U know,...i really thought it was a race thing with obama who has been in office a little under 3 years, in which in a time frame to clean up what George bush left behind which was disastrous as well as the republican mind set that led to all of it as well.
So I thought and said no because it happened in the Clinton era as well ,so its not a race issue.
What I don’t understand is, its clear as day what direction republicans go when they have office and what they do, they create destruction spend all the money on war and basically say hell with any body that makes less then 40,000 a year.
I’m not going to go into all that but, well ,I guess my main question is.
Why in Gods green earth of goodness and tranquility would a human even want to be or even vote a republican in office ,this world went through hell and back in those 8 hellish years of Bush tyrant presidency in office.

I mean u have to be real sick in the head to want to go back to those days…u really do?

What have republicans done for u lately?

What’s really wrong with humans of today, are u not glad the troops are coming home?
When looked back some 2 to 3 thousand years from now, this generation of humans will be thought of as ‘the 21 centuries cave man race’ a primitive form of humans with technology but no conclusive evidence as being to bright. And the tea party really sums that up.

It's sad that on ATS you can receive 4 Flags, 7 Stars and no supportive replies. Why are Democrats so scared to show themselves here? I'm here and I am a Democrat. Not a Northern Liberal Democrat like Obama but rather a Joe Manchin Southern Democrat who respects tradition and a government that helps people when they need it, who believes in reinvesting to rebuild America and slashing the deficit.

You don't have to be a San Francisco liberal to be a Democrat and you don't have to be a Tea Party Conservative to be a Republican. These two parties span a large spectrum and it is high time we take back our parties for all moderates across America.

I supported the Democrats this election cycle, they aren't perfect because society is not perfect. Politicians are raised in the same neighborhoods and played on the same swings us all of us. They have obtained a position of power and yes our politics have become heavily corrupted but it is up to society to restore the honor of public office. We must fight for that honor and elect candidates who we don't share every position with us but one that we trust will do a better job of serving you than the other guy.

We have a two-party system and it will always remain, like it or hate it, but it is up to us as Americans to bring ourselves together and bring Washington together for the common interests of the working men and women from New York to Little Rock to Seattle. This is our country and we should never be ashamed to show who we are in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I will wear my badge of Blue with honor through the good and the bad of the Democratic Party, I won't join their team when they do good and run from them when they do bad. Occasionally this might mean voting for the Republican or an Independent because a Democrat is just that bad. Both sides have a wide open field to play in so I have decided to pick the one I feel most comfortable with and that is the Democrats.

Good thread, S+F

I'm Democrat at heart, yet I look at what the individual candidate has done in the past, and what they speak of for the future, that in itself is what drives my vote; My vote card will be mixed everytime.

I think that the reason that our government is the way it is because we tend to get angry and vote in whichever direction is the opposite to who where angry with. I know that it makes no sense, but this is the way that things have been done for a very long time.

I remember telling someone recently that if the walls in the white house where clear, we would see everyone hanging out, and laughing their butts off at how easy it is to make someone willingly give up what is dear to them over a conflict that we didn't start, and have no real way to win.

The time that it took for everyone to vote, and make tea party movements, people could have decided that they didn't want to take ANY of this anymore. We as a people tend to think that our fight has to be won through someone, always a middle man.

Well I'm here to say that this is absolutely untrue. This election means nothing to me, the votes mean nothing to me, because whoever won is going to do the same thing. The same people that didn't have a job today, will probably not have a job tomorrow. Someone who lost their house today, will still lose their homes. Now all we did was allow for the next year or so to be a big fight over everything, while peoples lives drift away. Same tactics.. new people.

Peace, NRE.

I guess people get dazzled by the clever campaign slogans and flashy speeches and forget the core values that have been pushed by the party since day dot. So they vote for the person rather than the party, despite the fact that the party is what they are really voting for...

Let's break this down and hit'em one at a time, but let me preference by stating that I am not now nor have I ever been a Democrat, Republican etc. Life-long independent.

I never felt the 8 years under G.W. Bush were hellish. I absolutely felt heavy political turmoil though. I was never a fan of Bush, and can name a few things that I dislike from his administration (No child Left Behind, TARP, DHS and the Patriot Act) but no matter what, the viable candidates running against him were far worse options.

I mean u have to be real sick in the head to want to go back to those days…u really do?

I don't think anyone voting for a Republican wants to or thinks they are going "back to those days" they just desperately want to go anywhere other than where the current administration are going, and they despise the way the democrats have forced an agenda on the American people. Not to mention that all the 'evils' done by Bush in 8 years seems small in comparison to the stuff done in only 2+ by the Obama administration and democratic congress with the added horror that their 'evils' will fester for decades (a debt that generations will have to be made slave to the state to even begin to pay.)

What have republicans done for u lately?

The only thing I can say they have done, is fight against the anti-freedom agenda and incomprehensible debt forced upon the people by the democrats and Obama admin.

What’s really wrong with humans of today, are u not glad the troops are coming home?

As mentioned before, this hasn't really happened. They re-titled the mission, moved some people around to other countries and ensured the media doesn't report on events in that area the way they did under Bush. Out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

In our two party system, if things are going bad, especially as bad as they are now, you can either piddle your vote away on who you honestly think is best, or you vote with a well-funded and powerful party who is at least in opposition.

However, with this particular election, with so many tea partiers and independents casting ballots our of shear rage or fear for the nation, the Republicans going in will not be able to pull of the same old game. If they don't do at least half of what the people electing them are hoping, reign in spending, down-size government, and restore some basic freedoms, the next wave of votes will not be cast by paper but by lead.

To answer one thing that you asked, what have the Republicans done for me lately.

Well you see, NOTHING, that is what the government is supposed to do. They are not supposed to do anything for me or TO me. Get it? Good.

Also, what do people pay in income tax when you make under 40k? Probably nothing or 10%. What are they supposed to do, give you some Obama cash? This is rhetorical.

I have a question for you, just one.

So how you doing right now? I suppose you are really looking forward to ALL those tax increases in 2013 huh? You know the ones that go into effect right after the 2012 elections.

Oh the idiocy of it all.

Best post of this thread IMO, and one that really illuminates the great divide between liberals and conservatives. Liberals want, no expect, government to take care of them, while conservatives want, no expect, to be able to take care of themselves. Being able to take care of yourself is the greatest freedom you can have.

Well a democratic president kept a promise to bring some if not 85% of them home,if a republican was in office the USA would syill be in red yellow and green alert brown orange purple ,and campaigns this election would of been trying to scare the dog living sh-- out of every body.

We haven't forgotten what some apparently never knew or understood ...

That the president sets policy, but congress spends the money.

That the dems took over congress in 2006 - two years before the economy crashed on 2008.

Alas, history ...

Absolutely! Except I would have spelled it much differently ...

Are you screaming?

For one, just research democrat barney frank's involvement with freddie and fannie on the whole sub-prime mortgage mess. How much did that cost us all?
