Maybe you are not so paranoid...about 5 years ago my neighbors started complaining that weird things were happening with their car. The seat position was being changed, sometimes the amount of gas didn't seem right... it got to the point that they started keeping meticulous records and taking pictures of the interior.

Finally the neighbor happened to be sick and up in the middle of the night. He heard his garage door go up and went down to check. He got there just in time to see his car drive away. It turned out that the neighbors on the other side were drug dealers. They somehow had gotten his keys and made copies and used his car (a nice family sedan) to pick up the drugs because they thought the police were watching for their car. They were only going a few miles. Eventually the cops actually staked out the neighborhood and made some arrests. This was in a nice normal middle class neighborhood where the only previous problem was that another neighbor painted his house in a color not approved by the home owner's association. Horrors!!!

Thats crazy! Great story.

Its interesting how things that you usually count on like a safe neighborhood slowly change as the economy gets bad. That is so awesome that they eventually caught the people doing that, I cant imagine the balls it would take to steal a car over and over again.

I drive a sports car that is a bit on the loud side so I think someone would be out of luck being sneaky if they tried starting it

You mentioned him hiding his face and laying down in his seat. That reminded me of a time when my wife was hurt on the job, and there was a PI staking us out for several days. The guy we discovered made his mistake when he chose to park near the bus-top, around the corner and across the field from our backyard. In a normal universe, he wouldn't have been noticed, but these were 3 to 5 acre plots, with 75+ yard long driveways. No one ever parked on the streets. Unfortunately for him, he was acting suspiciously when my 9 year old daughter, and her friends got off the bus that afternoon, and one of them called the cops. It was actually pretty amazing to see the response time on that call. We were pretty rural but the first car arrived in less then 60 seconds....

Did he identify himself as a PI?

I'll bet some of those guys feel pretty safe to bend the rules if they know your schedule well enough that they are unlikely to get caught.

I wouldn't worry about it. Probably just some mentally unhinged/paranoid and delusional individual. My girlfriend's brother was followed around town by a guy in a car for a full day a few years back. Everywhere he went he'd see the car parked up or driving by slowly. Occasionally the guy inside would take out a long lensed camera and take pictures. Needless to say, it scared him. Eventually went to the police about it that evening, they stopped the guy in town and it turned out he was just a complete nutcase with a history of doing the same thing to various people. Just goes to show it isn't always something sinister, there's a lot of strange people out there.

Yes, he eventually was able to prove to the cops that he was a PI, but they were pretty rough (not violent!) with him at first, because we all thought he was stalking the girls.

The cops refused to comment on who he was investigating, but the implication was pretty clear.

But seriously, just cross your t's and dot your i's. I must say the long time at the gas station seems suspicious at first. You say the guy was in his 50's? How old are you and GF?

As a few folk have already alluded to 99% of women are Snakes with tits .

This story sounds a bit weird in the fact that she just bolted in the van leaving you stranded at the house. Maybe she was expecting a "visitor" and the van not being there was a sure sign that she was NOT at home.

You say this guy was in his 50's and looked like a migrant worker type. If i was getting on in my years and worked in a hard manual labour type job all my days i would visit a massage therapist if i could afford it.

Maybe during one of her sessions her client revealed something she thought she'd enjoy that her boyfriend couldn't provide.

Maybe im just reading too much into this , but as you've stated you have a relatively new car in a sports model i think we can rule out a visit from Chip Foose and the OVERHAULIN boys

I think it's a bit disrespectful to the OP and his girlfriend to accuse her of cheating on him. Imagine how she'd feel is she happened to see a thread full of comments basically slandering her. Also, that comment about most women being 'snakes with tits' is just so vulgar and idiotic I don't even know what to say about it.

Fair enough P-S maybe my snakes comment is a bit below the belt, maybe it's only more like 49%, but hey we're all grown ups here aren't we. In my opinion if it looks like a fish , smells like a fish and tastes like a fish then it sure as hell aint chicken.

I agree with you,and what the op said is very insulting and I don't think the girlfriend is having an affair,and tell me why affairs and sex is the first thing that comes to some peoples minds,people,people please, sex is not the only thing happening out in the world!!

If all those pieces belong to the same puzzle (your gf supposedly just realizing that there's no gas in the car and taking off, staying away for an extended period, weird guy showing up, talking to someone perhaps on a head set and someone being in your car) it is hard to imagine what picture might be hidden there. I just have one or two questions about this strange case. Your family (gf's family?) was there, and her sister, and there are spare keys for your car in the house, could it be her that was in the car, perhaps borrowing it in the night? Who's idea was it that you should all meet at your house that time in the first place?

I think the OP is right to be suspicious. Reading what other posters think, and reading what happened, girlfriend acting a little unusual, recently getting out of massage school, and strange (to you) guy acting odd when he drives by. I lean towards the same possibilities as other posters. He is a druggie/ drug runner not wanting to have his face noticed. Maybe a creep stalking your girlfriend, possibly hoping for more than a massage (not making your girlfriend to blame, there are creeps), and you startled him by coming home. Or, unfortunately, your girlfriend does know the guy, and is dodging the real reason the guy was there. I would think though, that a 5 year relationship would be enough time to know her well, and maybe this possibility is out of the question. Good luck to you.

I have to say this.... me and my friends love to talk about people when we see them drive/walk by; this is especially fun in wal-mart, well maybe the guy took a wrong turn down your road, saw you and was sitting on the phone talking about you and laughing and sometimes, people who are doing things like that are paranoid and think things like someone may be able to read lips (I have covered my mouth and my face to hide laughing and talking when poking fun at people!) Then maybe he really had a laugh when he saw your GF, I can imagine him saying "omg, the girl is pretty, what is she doing with that? hahahaha" I am not sure this is the answer but I know I have acted this way while busting on people going by...my 2 cents.

By the way I finally noticed something out of place in my house.

I have a very old Knights Templar sword that belonged to my great grandfather that I keep displayed next to my bed. It is extremely delicate due to its age with the leather parts of the belt beginning the process of disintegrating. Because of this and the fact its out of sight of the rest of the house its really not ever touched.

Not sure why I didn't notice this right away but the sword was placed back upside down and in its sheaf backwards.

Just go out buy a covert camera (can buy that looks like a motion sensor - like house alarm) that uses SD card. Check it out for a month. Then if no evidence of anything un-towards, get rid of it !

really? disrespectful? since when did an honest opinion become disrespectful? i do know however that how you deliver your opinion can be disrespectful, (yes, the snakes with tits thing was disrespectful and ignorant in my opinion too) but im delivering my opinion in the most respectful way i can. just because its in my opinion that she may be cheating on him doesnt mean that its a disrespectful thought. this happens all the time whether its a woman cheating on a man or a man cheating on a woman.

i think its completely ignorant to just toss this idea out the window just because you sympathize with her seeing a thread about this. let me guess, youve never been cheated on, have you? the signs displayed by this mans girlfriend are typical things that happen before somebody finds out theyve been cheated on. am i saying that this is the case? i really dont know if shes cheating on him or not, but thats what makes it my OPINION. it makes me sick that people are actually sickened by the fact that some people here are willing to give their honest opinion in the interest of the OP. if you cant handle the subject matter of the thread, then go to another one.

youll probably get just as sickened by what you see there though.

edit: oh, and by the way using the whole "sex is the first thing that comes to mind" idea is childish. i looked at the nature of his girlfriends actions rather than jumping to conclusions. how old are you really? of course sex isnt the only thing that happens in this world, but it is a part of it and if you cant handle it then i feel sorry for you!
