BBC news are now saying that the bomb was meant to explode on the plane.
Why would they try to blow up a cargo plane? It doesn't make any sense.

Yeah it seems some media is more inclined to go with "trusted" anon sources with the best headline regardless of the truth of the content . not sure if thats what this is .....as you never know about anything you read or watch anymore ...

"The public may recognise specific enhancements including heightened cargo screening and additional security at airports.

"Passengers should continue to expect an unpredictable mix of security layers that include explosives trace detection, advanced imaging technology, canine teams and pat downs, among others.”

He added: "As always, we remind the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement."

Ross Rice, spokesman for the FBI's Chicago office, said: "There have been no threats made or received indicating that anyone or any location in Chicago is at risk.

"The two suspicious packages did not contain explosives."

Yes, this definitely seems to me to be about an excuse to invade or take control of Yemen. I believe there are already some forces there anyway, and from what I have been reading they have 'stepped up security' (sic) there since this event.

The Yemeni authorities are cooperative so there is no need to take control of Yemen, but yes our soldiers have been there for a long time.

The BBC is reporting that Yemeni authorities have confiscated 20+ suspicious items. Also the Home Secretary said a short time ago that the printer cartridge device was viable and could have exploded.

You know, this doesn't add up for me. Yesterday the Home Sec said there were explosives but no bomb, and they have actually identified the substance. Today Home Sec says the device was viable. So - how come they couldn't see the device was viable yesterday, when they were able to remove and analyse the substance? I'm getting the impression that US could be pressuring the UK to back up its story!

Quite a few things aren't making sense. It's like 9/11 - for some reason they never seem to be able to get their stories straight.

Dr. Moussad Ali-Mohammadi was almost certainly killed by those agencies. One of, if not the best way to degrade the progress of a nuclear program is to target the human expertise and this has been going on for a while now. However I would not attribute terror attacks in Yemen to those same agencies.

Some people are attributing terrorist attacks in Afghanistan to those agencies. I'm not sure why you say you wouldn't attribute terror attacks in Yemen to those same agences, but I wasn't referring to terrorist attacks in Yemen, but black operatives could well have organised the 'packages' on the plane.

I see, I think I misread it the first time around.

They're saying it's probably Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Looks like they're definitely pushing for something to happen in Yemen.

The US and Brits need Yemen, America to surround Iran even more. Brits should never have left Aden

You got that right.
I recall Yemen as being mentioned in the crosshairs of the US earlier this year:

Tue 5 Jan 2010

Summary: Everything seems to suggest that 9/11 was an inside job, an excuse to initiate Brzezinski's "Grand Chess-board" - military operations in Central Asia in order to submit it to the New World Order World Government. More and more people think so - and are therefore skeptical when new "terrorist attacks" occur. An attempt by a Nigerian in a plane from Amsterdam to Detroit to detonate a bomb triggered suspicions of a false flag action by U.S. government in order to create the right panic to renew the unconstitutional Patriot Act in Congress in February.

There is also suspicion that the USA has plans to deploy its military in Yemen, where the terrorist is said to have had his insufficient education.Mr. Obama and Gordon Brown claim that Yemen is haunted by Al-Qaeda fighters who have fled Afghanistan and Pakistan and are now making the world unsafe from Yemen.

There will probably just ensue some bombing and a police expeditionary force, as the U.S. cannot cope with a new front. Besides, A Somali Shabab/"Al-Qaida" sympathizer in Denmark has tried to collect the 1 mio. dollar reward and a ticket to Allah´s Paradise for killing a Muhammad-cartoonist.

What would you do if you were Iran?

Imagine that was the US surrounded by the "enemy"
What would the US do?

"THEY" will never "get it straight" because that's part of the plan !

the "Theory-AntiTheory" is the base for all the confusion.

one official says one thing ,,, another one says something else AND,

the "Leaders" of nations don't say much of anything!

this whole episode is a Holloween Trick with no treat (for us normal people).

why else would all these recognizable "officials" be "ACTING" like this ?

follow the funding and you will see the behind the scenes contractors getting paid big money.

they are still stuck on the "stupid is in style" routine.

Has Anyone ever wondered why the U.N. is silent on this if it's SOOO important ???

Suspicious packages not from Yemen - now that is interesting indeed! So just where did they originate and how did did they end up in Yemen?

Yes, interesting. Yemen has denied being the point of departure, and UAE is now denying any suspect packages were on Flight 201 - the one which was accompanied by US jets.

Yes, as I wrote that it did cross my mind that the confused stories are all part of the plan.

I was just looking at the UPS Internation service list.

www.ups.com...

Can I get someone to help me find the airport in Yemen where the package could have been put on the planes?

I just can't find it. I guess if you can put a package on a plane that doesn't land at your airport, you can do almost anything.

MSM seems to be putting their all out on the political arena today. I have been waiting for updates on earlier reports of a woman arrested in Yemen for mailing the packages. Also an update on the other 20 plus packages that may be in flight or on US soil. Has anyone heard anything further on these reports?

Can this be a false flag operation beginning?

I don't think you're a jerk at all...that is exactly what I was thinking...not to mention
since there's an increasing number of people calling for the banning of airport scanners---due to this event, it's already
been reported that further security measures will be taken at airports... SOME people will fall for this nonsense and willingly be humiliated, groped, and will now shut up about the banning... not me, though.
In addition, some sites have cited, connected the dots to...a "war" between FedEx and UPS...guess which one is unionized?

Well it makes sense if the plan was to trigger it over a City in the US.
Look what happened when the same thing happened over Lockerbie-and that was only a small place.
The mystery is that the Home Office has said that they dont believe that it was able to be controlled-so how could it be monitored and timed ?
Yet we are told that there was a sim attatched which suggests that it was GSM enabled ?

What if the contents of the cartridge contained dirty bomb deposits ?
In that case it would not matter if it was a Cargo plane would it ?
Theres more to this than meets the eye.
If this was stage managed-then surely they wont be able to get away with it since this is more than the US and UK.
It would need co-operation from lots-including Germany where the East Midlands bound plane also made a stop over.

BBC news are reporting that a house was surrounded and a woman in her 20s arrested along with her parents.
The reports we have heard about the other packages are that there is another 24/26.
Its not clear if these are being examined or being tracked.
The media are falling over themselves to get info.
Cameron and Co are probably sighing in refief as its temp diverted everyone here in the UK away from the cuts.
There was uproar following announcements this week about a raise of up to 55% in Airport taxes from November 1st.
Its bizzare that the focus has now switched not on how much more it will cost us to fly-but how much longer it will take to navigate more stringent airport security.
They dont need to terrorists to force us into not flying-we dont fear them.
The Gov can do a much better job in making people stay at home......by making it too expensive to think about flying !

Note the comments though....they seem contrasting.

"Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said the US and the United Arab Emirates had provided Yemen with information that helped identify the woman, and he pledged that his country would continue fighting al-Qaeda "in co-operation with its partners".

"But we do not want anyone to interfere in Yemeni affairs by hunting down al-Qaeda," he added.
