I patiently read the first 15 pages of this thread. I wanted to read each opinion on here before I gave my opinion, but I simply do not have the
patience.
I am not an expert in photography. In fact I know nothing about it. But I live in Southern Illinois and I have hunted turkey for 35 years. I consider
myself an expert in hunting wild turkey if there is any such thing as an "expert". I want to make one thing perfectly clear. At least one opinion
posted here referred to them as being "dumb". This could not be further from the truth. They have a sharp sense of smell, sight, and hearing. In 35
years I have never gotten with 15 yards of a wild turkey. I have often sat for hours just outside of the "killing zone" of a wild turkey. They are a
highly patient bird. based on my knowledge and experience I can say a few things that I know.
1. This object is not a turkey;
2. This object posed no threat to these turkeys.
Assuming that the before, during and after frames being shown here are legitimate, it is also my opinion that no human would have been able to place
this object and removed it during these 3(THREE) frames without startling the other turkeys. Admitting no knowledge of photography, I believe this
object is within the kill zone of these other turkeys. The average kill zone is between 30 and 50 yards. These birds would, in my opinion, show some
acknowledgment of of any other bird of prey that enters this 30 to 50 yard kill zone.. I have watched them become startled by a small sparrow.
All bets are off if these are domesticated turkeys....
EDIT: I should have kept reading. Blue Jay. Good find OP
