What is sad is that people purposely name their babies after a delusional sex perv who lied and murdered ... A power hungry loon who started a cult by stealing bits and pieces of other cults (pagan, christian, jewish) and threw in some faux-heavenly-visions in order to keep power ... The man responsible for putting a group together that destroyed ancient and vibrant civlizations in North Africa and the middle east. ... and who left millions dead or enslaved.

That's who they named their babies after.
A middle name of Adolph would be appropriate.
And it's very sad.

This thread might serve a double purpose. On the onset it might seem like certain members are paranoid Islamophobics who are trying to spread fear and anti-Muslim sentiment. When you take a closer inspection, it seems this thread might have been started by those who are actually Pro-Muslim because they know that certain members will take the bait and go on to make ridiculous claims. Think about it.

How does the most popular name being Mohammed (even if this were true) indicate that the UK is being overrun by Muslims? It is a silly conclusion that paints anyone who speaks critically of Islam look like uneducated morons. In addition, it creates overt sympathy for Muslims because when anybody says something like "they are taking over the country" you think about the type of people who make these claims and associate it with ridiculous ideas such as those found in the article in the OP.

What does the above achieve? When people with genuine concerns come forth and say they are worried about the future, they are looked upon as racists and fascists. When people who live in the UK say their neighbourhoods are being overrun and their jobs taken away (when they actually are experiencing these things), people think they are lying and linking them to articles like the one in the OP.

Am I over-analysing this? Maybe I am, but I find it hard to believe these types of threads come about for no reason other to spread anti-X sentiment. The ignorant answer would be to say "they just hate Muslims and want to vent their anger", but we know ATS is meant to be about denying ignorance. Is it just a coincidence that articles like these surface at the same time politicians from European countries call for stricter immigration control and bans on wearing burkas in public places?

If you put all of the different spellings of the same name, a lot more names would be higher up (Daniel, Dan, Danny/ John, Johnny, Jonathan)

It's just propaganda at it's worst, but it wouldn't be the daily mail if it didn't have a daily dose of racism and lies

Hey im muslim myself, first of all i gotta say thanks for the kind statement, some guys here are just too kind..

To address the issue about the names, a lot if not most muslim boys even me included have our prophets name put into our fist name, yet we use our second name as our main one. Kinda like paying homage to our prophet.
For example my name is Mohammed Najmul, yet the name everyone knows me by is Najmul. Mohammed is just used in important documents etc.

Quite a large majority have this style of naing their children, though its not at all indicative of the population of the muslims here. For example if all christians were to use a similar approach to our prophet jesus for their name, yet continue to be called by their main name, its just for respect sorta like. Then the most common name would be his.

Even then im quite skeptical that Mohammed is even the most common name but that would explain it.

For the guys who say islam is causing all the fear mongering, terrorism, world domination...dont you guys watch the news?
Who is it thats actually doing the world dominating? Afghanistan is going though a war, iraq is going through a war, both pointless and can be considered mass genocide. Pakistan is geting bombed whilst going through a major flood disaster. Iran is being implicated for fear monering ad terror and WMDs, when its obvious thats not the case, Gaza went through war and now is pretty much a prison, whilst their homes are taken away etc.
All the MSN in western countires desptie all the atrocities going on, still # all over muslims.
Yet when the so called terrorist groups, which are and have been funded by the tptb stand firm, and make threats, tey are making these threats and actions from a dfeensive perspective. Even then th majority of muslims you ask about terror groups will still condemn teir actions and would say the best approach to dealing with invaders and tyranny is to pray and only pray, for we are powerless.

Anyway ill keep it short, gotta go to the ym where i can train, get strong so i can become a fighter and adorn the AK47 and do jihad! ......lol i bet you woulda believed me too. Btw if its hatred you live on, the only thing i can do is pray for you to have peace in your hearts, we muslims dont want or need sympathy or pity. We believe in a bunch of prophecies to play ot, till then all we can do is pray, pray for you,for eachother and leave the rest in Gods hands

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

It's funny how this thread is in the 'General Conspiracies' forum.

To everyone who feels hostile, get out there, find someone named Mohammed, and have a pleasant, long chat with them. Then do it again. Then again. Until you've gone through every single Mohammed. THEN, I'll listen to your opinion on whether you like or dislike Mohammeds. Until then, you're being ridiculous and ignorant.

This is exactly what I was going to write. It's clearly xenophobic propaganda published by a paper that's well known for it's very right wing bias.

Wow..just..wow.

I stepped away from this thread yesterday hoping the overwhelming goodness of humanity would take over this thread and the hate/fear/racism would subside a bit. Boy was I wrong!

A name is a name. Immigration is how nations grow and become better.

I'll say it again:I'm from Texas, hear a lot of racist crap, and this stuff is just sad. At least here we get the dumb asses spouting racism. You Brits fancy yourself being smarter than us, yet it's still there. You even try to justify it! Get over yourselves.

Why do I care? Because an injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere. You guys make me sad. I was in a good mood until now. (oh and that doesn't mean I get on ATS and spout a rant that would make Hitler wet member that used that as an excuse)

Yes, we can all agree that, whether it be a small portion, or a mistakenly large group, Islam has it's problem. So does Christianity. Wait a minute...didn't one of your Royal family long ago try/did kill others who wished to pray to a "different" God? Here we got the Westboro "Baptist Church". You don't see people calling for them to stop living here!

Religious and cultural intolerance has been the bane of humanity since the first person heard their imaginary friend telling them to be better.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for you Brits. You are our forefathers, you are the reason MY country is so great. You have always worked hand in hand with us and helped us, along with you, become what we are. (I could even make arguments to where you guys do things better.)

Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised though. Maybe those ignorant fools here in the South learned it from their big brothers around this thread...

Jack ( the third most popular name ) is a diminutive form of John, also. Add to that, Eastern European immigrants having children here, who might have called their child Jan, Ivan, Ion etc.

Not to mention, Muslim parents who call their son Yaya or Yahya.

I think we can safely say that John - in all its variants - is by far the most popular boys name in Britain !
I guess there's not a Daily Mail article on that ''story'', though.

Charlie, William, Harry and Alfie are very old fasioned names in particular and I honestly don't know anyone who would use them as their childs name.

I'm not saying theres anything wrong with those names but to suggest they are in the top ten popular here in the UK is a bit laughable to me.

I'd say top names were more like; John, Scott, Lee, Nick, Danny, Josh, Mike, Billy etc yes I know some of them are shortened versions of names such as William but seriously who calls their kids Charlie or Alfie?

Once again, no offence but it just seems a little bizarre to say the least...

utter bull #,

The Daily Mail is known to insight rage, hate, and all things that make people go - 'oh isn't that bad'. If you are here on ATS I would have thought it's to get away from that type of media reporting - not repeat it. There is no basis for that report at all and I think quoting it here is bad news and not ATS news. The previous post with the top ten names is more like it, and i know at least 7 children with those names. checkout my username in case your wondering where I am from.

Unfortunately I have to agree, Britian is losing what little left it had of an identity at an increasing pace. I blame political correctness, it's a joke when I can't fly a Union Jack flag outside my home or that now most major UK supermarkets have aisles dedicated to Polish food.

I don't have anything wrong with foreigners entering and living in this country if done so legally and as long as they support the economy by working.

What annoys me is the British government putting foreigners first, above the UK's own citizens.

Ah, I find myself saying this nearly every other week here on ATS...

Wait a second...it's a shame to have a Polish food aisle?!!

What kind of logic are you using?!

I'd fight for a SHELF of Polish food. All we have is Asian and Mexican.

Like I said, number one positive of immigration: awesome food.

Seriously though, how does someone say it's a shame to have a Polish food aisle? And how does that mean you are losing your identity? The only way one loses that is if they let it go. Or let petty things get in the way.

Maybe I didn't mean it in so much of a literal sense but it's the concept that I don't agree with, I've never been so couldn't say for sure but I'm fairly certain they don't have English food aisles in Polish supermarkets?

As I said, it's the concept that I don't agree with, a large number of polish people have entered this country illegally to work for cheap labour and then send that money back home where it almost trebles.

Not to mention the companies who will happily employ a polish citizen over an Englishman and knowing full well that they'll accept half the wage.

What about the English people in this country who are having a hard time? Where is the support for them?

The UK seems to favour foreign nationals over it's own citizens, maybe you would have to live here to understand but that's certainly the way it feels at times.

I'm all for multiculturalism and all that but when I can't fly a Union Jack flag out of my window in my country for fear of offending people from other religions?

Like I said, we have lost our identity.

Second that mate.

I am all for Muslims and whoever being in this country and abiding by OUR customs and traditions, as we would when we visit their countries. They need to show respect and they will receive respect. It is a 2 way thing.

Unfortunately this is not so, I am quite suprised there aren't more riots or protests in the UK to be honest. I am not saying this to incite racial hatred, quite the contrary, I believe the average English person should be able to show national pride without being told it offends foreigners.

A good example of this was the recent World Cup. We were banned from having St Georges Flags on our work vans for fear of giving the image that our company is 'racist'! What is that about?

I seriously think that it is now too late for Britain. Things will only get much worse....

Rev

The bulls are running down the high street. What is interesting is that there are about ten different variants of this name. It still isn't a prob because we will not stand for Sharia law. We don't need it. Also there are many Moslems who will loose their culture like most second generation immigrants have done.
