Mohammed is now the most popular name for newborn boys in England and Wales ahead of Jack and Harry, it emerged today.
The name, when 12 different spellings were included, was given to 7,549 youngsters in 2009, official statistics revealed.
Oliver was the second most popular and it was given to 7,364 boys in England and Wales in 12 months.

This is real bad news and i fear for the future of Britain, although i'm sure most of those boys will grow up to be law abiding citizens, i fear for the true British identity.

But the real problem is that you can't talk about things like this in public in Britain any more without being branded 'racist'.

What do you guys make of this?

Edit: Muhammad according to this article means all different variety of the spelling, officially Muhammad is not the no.1 but only if you put all the different spelling variations together, that's all this article is saying.

The Daily Mail is known for it's propaganda by the way, it's full of it.

I see a LOT more hatred towards Muslims than any Muslims showing hatred here in the UK, that to me says a lot.

I also see big media stories like that archbishop story, which was all his words not any muslim, a lot of hatred being created by "non muslims" a lot of opinions from "non muslims" There are plenty of stories like this OP, but barely any from real Muslims. And IF you DO hear a story, they specifically select the worst of the worst to go in the media, simple propaganda.

First of all, I struggle to believe that Muhammad is the most popular boys name in England and Wales, it could be, but I would be very surprised.

Secondly, yes, Leeds, London and Manchester in particular have relatively large Muslim communities but stating that 'EVERYWHERE is full to the brim of Muslims' is completely ignorant.

Only 2.5% of the UK population are Muslim.

So now I would be asking myself, if I were you, why do I have such ridiculous beliefs like the ones I have quoted above? That's the real issue here.

In fairness, I have looked at numerous different websites on the subject and all have been different. The one similarity is none of them have Mohammed as the top name and most not even the top 100.

well if muslims come here and we dont folllow there traditions we are racisit if we go over there and do not follow there ways we are racist.... bottom line is there going to take advantage of how overly sensitive we have become and will take over,,,, and it is our faulyt.... 60 years and most of the world has turned into sensitive molycodles

Your right im from essex.....im south essex so next to london (40 mins away by tube )

London has been creeping into my part of essex for the last 10 years.........we now have a muslim recreation centre in our town, just shows how many muslims now live here Oh and this centre was paid for by all of us taxpayers yet we are only allowed in certain parts of the building at certain times, and must abide my the muslims rules....wtf????????

yes, and you always end up in the bad part of town when you start to see islamic wrighting on the walls and signs. it becoming a sad site, england is losing its idenity.

2.5% of the population would mean only 2.5% of the birth rate. This would imply that people other than Muslims were naming their children Mohamed, which I'm not buying.

Also Oliver is apparently second. My name is Oliver and I'm 38 and I can assure you that its quite an uncommon name, even now. Very rarely do I come across another Oliver.

I also live in quite a big seaside town south of Bristol and you would be hard pushed to find any Muslims here. I'm sure there are a few but saying England is crawling with them is gross exaggeration.
You'd also struggle to find more than 10 African, Asian, or Indians.
Big city centres have always been an eclectic mix of races since the 50's and 60's its no different now.

Its a propaganda piece in my opinion.

Is it the religion people have a problem with, or is it ethnicity? Most of them are born British.
