I'm not about to go into them because I'm not convinced but I made an account here to let everyone know that apparently Freedom Hosting, a hidden service on the Tor network was raided by the Feds today and had their servers seized.

Hmmmm....

If that's true, it's definitely time to start worrying. Here's an excerpt from a story published yesterday. I'll include a link to the whole article at the bottom.

WikiLeaks was also represented at the conference by Jacob Appelbaum, a well-known computer hacker responsible for breaking Apple’s FileVault encryption system as well as managing a large part of Tor, a project that allows almost-perfect anonymity on the web.

“When you ignore the injustices of the world, you are part of the problem,” said Appelbaum at the conference, filling in for Assange, who was unable to attend due to his wanted status for leaking classified military information on WikiLeaks. Federal agents were so numerous they were “crawling up the walls,” said one source.

“If you’ve read [about hackers], then you know that you just can’t stop us. The purpose here is to give you the data, so that you can make your own analysis,” said Appelbaum.

Appelbaum cited distrust of the mainstream media, since its articles never behaved like a scientific journal, whereas WikiLeaks worked on releasing only raw source material free for public interpretation.

“When the media is gagged, we refuse to be gagged,” stated Appelbaum. “This whole idea of hunting for [Assange], you can cut off the head—but there will be more.”

After his speech, Appelbaum had to use a doppelgänger to escape the rush of federal agents onstage, and at a later unrelated talk was harassed by two FBI agents who asked to have a talk with him so that they could flesh things out.

Here's a link to the rest of the article.

Apparently it was a hidden service in the TOR network. It sounds like it is no more because it got raided, so apparently it wasn't such a secret.

I wonder if BarackObama is the password.

let me see if I can grasp something here.

Is the insurance file different than the
Iraq documents file or are these 2 the
same encrypted file?

If they are different, then we have no idea
what is in the insurance file.
It could be ET stuff
could it not???

and if so, that might explain
why they want it so badly
to take down wiki.

any thoughts??

Yes, of course its been tried...and discussed...over and over again in this thread.

My guess is that when we're supposed to have the password, we'll know it without a doubt. Does anyone know of a way to network computers and brute force the file (think SETI at home)? I bet we could get some massive computing power together to try to crack this file without much effort...

WikiLeaks communications infrastructure is currently under attack. Project BO move to coms channel S. Activate Reston5.

With respect to all of the speculation regarding the above, I'm inclined to think it does refer to Reston, VA. It's right outside of Washington, DC and is part of the tech hub of that area. In addition to lots of technology companies, it also has a large number of hosting data centers and other co-lo type sites. BTW - it also is home to offices of a lot of government agencies.

It might be as simple as saying activate or bring on-line server # 5 in their Reston, VA data center location. I'm sure Wikileaks has servers all over the place...

If it was ET stuff, and they were directly from the government, then it would be forced disclosure. and that would be a definate win for the people.

Has anyone tried to log in to Coms channel S on chat (if coms = communication I assume they mean the chatroom?). Mind you I have no idea of how IRC works so I might be talking rubbish...worth a try?

If it was ET stuff then wouldn't all of the greys, the Nordics, the pleiadians, draconians, reptilians and thousand millions find the wikileaks staff and abduct them to keep their terrible secret on the hush? I think so, thank you very much.

Wow, can everyone asking redundant questions please just go through this thread and read it before you post? It decreases the quality for everyone else when the same things come up over and over.

maybe it's only the gubment
who wants to keep it a secret
thereby making ET indifferent
to the idea.

You would have to get the password to unlock the file.

I have definitely been thinking about the potential that this could be some very profound information. Not necessarily the "insurance" file, but maybe the one they are intending on leaking.

We can not forget that there are a MINIMUM of 120 feds tasked just on wikileaks right now. That number is likely an understatement.

The government has made it very clear that they see this as a severe threat and are actively focusing on it. not only are they focusing on it, but they are dedicating a ton of resources to fight them.

The thing I keep thinking about is all the talked and reported information going around at the time that Bradley Manning got arrested. Manning had secured very open access to much of the governments databases. He had access for over a year wasnt it? He said that he basically just copied everything he could 24/7. He was copying files nonstop for a very long time.

Given the response that the government has put forth, I have the feeling that the feds know that while the files that all this recent controversy are about might not be super damaging, OTHER files that the feds know or suspect wikileaks has access to are the threat.

All I am saying is that the response from the government is indicative of their being very intimidated by wikileaks. The files we are dealing with and are rumored to be released soon might not even be the juiciest, but the Feds clearly know that wikileaks has access to some VERY damaging material.

How do we try passwords for it?
And what program do we need to do it?

I've downloaded it, but I don't know how to get into it and attempt passwords.

Cheers
