last winter was very hard
long times of coldness - even down to -16°C and -20°C
tons of snow and icicles - yeah right on the very window with its view to the village green

my son even saved one part in our freezer

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/d85e971c0418.jpg[/atsimg]

from the outside
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/fdf9c5de34b7.jpg[/atsimg]

the biggest icicle was nearly as long as the window is high before it was killed

as i mentioned before i am living in northern berlin.
that part of berlin is called "reinickendorf"
one of reinickendorf.s locations is tegel – i bet some of you have heard of tegel airport before - yeah it is in reinickendorf!

this is one of the contrasts i love of berlin, there is the airport and you just turn around and see pictures like the ones in this thread so far.

following is a picture of the "sechserbrücke" - the harbor bridge at the lake tegel – sixpence bridge.
it has got its name - or actually the older version of it - by a ferry which was established by a berlin fisherman.
people wanted to walk in the forests of reinickendorf and at the lake tegel, they had to cross the flowing "fließ"
that fisherman took them over, charging five pfennig (penny) - which is called "sechser" - six pence - in berlin.
later on he built a small bridge and charged that fee to cross the bridge

now a bit of the fernsehturm - tv tower.
it is very close to the railway station alexanderplatz.
a huge building seen all over the place, located in mitte a part of the former east of berlin.
the sphere high on top contains a restaurant and it reflects the sun in form of a cross which was called "cross of the east" among berlin citizens - not well acknowledged by the atheistic eastern government

and the sphere isn.t really green it is silver
i just colored it a bit for a former project ;D

Nice photos Orange. Especially the nature pics.

Its strange how similar it looks to where I live in the UK on the south coast. I live in a very small village in the countryside.

Maybe you should swap jobs from graphics to photography

thanks john

much appreciated your comments as always

i like to take photos but i wouldn.t consider myself as a good photographer and my equipment is "only" a small pink casio exilim with 8.1 megapixel - so nothing like a good SLR

but maybe … who knows
