You know, I hear a great deal of talk in here about survival skills. Survive what? may I ask? We have learned about the cycles of Earth, we have seen and read about the Monoliths the Ancients left for us, we have read the ancient texts. I think we all know the world is coming to an end, and this is a process, for to be born, a thing must first die. This has happened before, we are now in the Fifth "Sun" as in the 5th world since first creation and beginning.

Here are my own "survival skills" that I am certain will serve me well WTSHTF, and the Earth turns over. I have learned to form a Merkaba. This is basically an electromagnetic field generator that will retain and store memory and personality for transport across great distances. Second, I have armed myself with Knowledge. A well rounded form of knowledge, beginning with school, and on to higher knowledge and Occult and Gnostic learning, and on to learning from beings not of this Earth, much like sessions in the "Gray Room," as someone in here has a thread on. This, to me anyway, is much like a classroom, with three professors, if you can call them that, and the lessons are taught via telepathy. Perhaps this is only for those like unto me, perhaps not, these things I do not know. I do believe that knowledge of the supernatural kind can be gained and learned by anyone. The key is to stop believing, and start knowing. Build your place, your home, place of rest, R&R place, whatever you may call it, build it on another plane now, and perfect it over time. Stop thinking about preserving the human body suit you are riding around in, and dwell on preserving the Soul, and the Memories of a lifetime. when the time comes, step out of your meat-suit and go there for a time. You can always come back. Mother Earth can, and will recreate herself in 6 Earth days time. Or give birth to as new world, I am not certain which. I just know it has happened before, and will happen again.

That was a great explanation.

The problem with this society and this world is the only bpeople with the power to change things are cowards.

We watch people in China work for 5 cents a day. Pakistani babies firebombed with depleted uranium. Nigerians starving to death in a toxic oil dump and do nothing.

We see the world and know its going to hell and do nothing as long as its not our family. Were better off so well just wait till our life degrades to 3rd world quality.

No we aren't mentally prepared, but we know the inevitable if this course continues, that's why were survivalists in the first place.

God helps those who help themselves and if that's the case we are alone.

We can see the pure evil that runs this world. The hidden hand that corrupts kills mames and diseases everything it touches. People say bring it on cause were treading water waiting till they have every last piece in place and its checkmate. These criminals and traitors to humanity deserve retribution but until enough people are willing to unite we will continue to be systematically slaughtered.

All of you military, police, bankers, lawyers, judges, politicians are the front lines in this system of enslavement. Remember who you work for.

We know we deserve what we have coming to us.

Let's forgive ourselves, and each other, and maybe avoid it.

Cuz most of you won't last more than a day.

Been hungry cold lonely and homeless for 7 years already.

Have a computer in a storage unit for a short time still, maybe.

What am I gonna do when I don't have it made anymore?

I wish like hell that some of the people that I have heard talking about how they would screw over any and everybody in order to survive if a situation arose where they had to, had been in situations where there was extreme adversity.. They would find out for real that in order to survive you have to be able to work with other people.... How would a person that survived because they outlasted everyone else justify their existence.... If humanity was to come to that point then it deserves to be wiped out at one fell swoop..... I know there have been situations I was in when I was in my teens that a lot of people like me wouldn't have survived if we had turned on each other instead of pulling together, caring, sharing and supporting each other.

If you haven't lived in the open for 6 or 7 weeks, gone without food and sometimes water for days at a time constantly moving from sunrise until sunset to reach a defensible position where food water and ammunition could be lifted in by helicopter.... Then you have to be able to dig in and construct a bunker that can and did take direct hits from rockets ,mortars and artillery. At that point things are great if incoming rockets and such don't come in when you come above ground but you are wearing clothing that is filthy and rotting of you and before it is over have gone 52 days without soap and enough water for a bath... That was hell on 18 and 19 year old Marines.... Imagine trying to do that without the proper intense training and physical conditioning and random helicopter support.... Think of how that would effect a person 60 years old with arthritis from injuries suffered earlier in life.... Think how bad it could get if military drones are searching for you to use for target practice.... It would be difficult for anybody to survive without being supplied with what is needed.... I will skip the diseases that go along with such a lifestyle.

I don't think anyone is prepared for something of that scale mentally, emotionally, or even logically.

You can buy all the guns and ammo, you can buy all the MREs and camo-mil-spec-equipment all you want, but at the end of it all, you're on your own, and you may not survive at all, or be given the opportunity. Even if you live in a high tech bunker.

Am I ready for it mentally? Not at all. The death, the smell of it all, the need to help those I love, I don't know how I can deal with it. I've had no formal training, I'm just a guy who lives in the city.

As fun as it is to think about these situations, I really doubt I would be any good if it ever happened.

What is it that people are going to freak out the most about? That the govt is not there to take care of them? That they are now responsible for their own lives? That the knowledge they have about Jersey Shore is not really going to help them now?
No culture in the past was mentally prepared to be assimilated into the current collective that we now call decent society. We are at the peak of our comfort levels. Entertainment disarms us long enough to stay asleep. We may not have much in the way of time to mentally prepare ourselves for what looks to be our probable future but that doesn't mean that it can't happen. Many plan to go to the wilderness and live off the land but nature is ruthless. There's a reason why cities are where they are due to food production and climate. All the more reason to learn to work together. Otherwise, we shall do what the current leaders of this planet desire and waste one another over scraps.

Do I think anyone is prepared mentally?
Absolutely not.
The smell? There are people worried about the smell?
Well, that just goes to show how unprepared people are.

No, I'm not trying to insult anyone - not at all - I'm just pointing out a fact - the smell, after about three big lung fulls? You don't smell it anymore.

IMO It wont be the moments of panic and terror that will 'get you' - at that point you'll either fall back on training (if you have it) or your fight or flight and shock mechanisms will kick in.

No, it's going to be in the moments of quiet. And reflection.
Those are going to be the really dangerous times.
Remembering all you had. All you took for granted, and comparing it to everything you don't have in the moments of survival after a world changing even.
People are creatures of habit, they're also creatures of comparisons.
Both these human attributes are very strong, and overriding them with living a life of constant havoc and chaos and want? OUCH - That’s what’s going to ‘get’ people.

It's my opinion if you’re really serious about all this ‘survival’ stuff, you’ve got to start ‘changing your mind’ - now.
Change your habits - now.
Change your routines - daily.
Try to get that mind set ready before the situation arises that you’ll ‘need’ it.

How? Well that's a little tougher as some don't have the luxury to go 52 days without soap and keep their jobs (or their personal relationships) intact.

But you can start with one of the HUGEST impacts the 'new life' will have on you. Your food.

Want an example?
Pull out your shopping list and go through it line by line, no cheating.
Take out everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that is pre-processed. E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G!

Now, start living life from this day forward WITHOUT those things. (And that means paper products too - not just things you eat.)

Try that for a few days, a week even.
And all the while train your mind.
Train your mind to stop thinking about the ‘what we had’ and only think about the ‘what we have’.

Now step it up a notch. Do the above - all your meals cold. (No fire, they're a dead giveaway to your position.)

Now try the above without light or heat in your home. Then, with only cold water.

So try the above and find out just how 'prepared’ you are - then come back and tell us what happened.

By the way - due to life changes I was forced into 'trying' it.
Honestly, at times of high emotion I almost believed I was better off dead.
Not quite, but almost.
And it was the REMEMBERING that nearly did me in.
The remembering.

peace

I find it peculiar that so few fail to realize that the way they live their lives now is a fairly new thing.

There are many people and institutions which profit from your helplessness.

We weren't always helpless,or we would have been extinct long ago.

It only took about 100 years for most to forget how it used to be.

We are like spoiled children now.

About 1 in 5 people will just sit their and die during the first days of a global catastrophe. They won't be able to cope with whats going on, and will literally shut down, sit there and starve.
85% of the rest who survive the "situation" will die during looting, via disease, and by starvation when the food runs out. Its one thing to be skilled with a gun, or to be a pack rat of survival gear, its another to know how to harvest seeds, plant and nurture crops, filter water, make your own charcoal for purifying water, and to build a balance of animals around your "new home" to keep insects down, grass tamed, food in supply, and security intact. Being able to cope with the countless dead you will encounter and likely witness taking place is another must for this Survivor Gen.
Its a lot to think about, and even more to prepare for, but I'm ready. That being said, if you're at ground zero when a meteor strikes, it won't matter what you know.

Presumably, of the first luxuries to end will be the internet and media communication.

No ATS, email, txts, calls to the folks/girlfriend, news, TV, radio etc.

Not to mention power/utilities/petrol.

Maybe one should consider with whom one spends these times of peril.

But, I'm sure you can deal with it, you might even enjoy parts of it.

Peace

No one will ever be mentally ready for mass doom and gloom. Friends and love ones dead or taken under martial law. No one is ready but it is somthing that must happen in order to show the ugly face of the elite.

As i sat here and went all over the responses,I began to realize it has only one answer "you must make yourself mentally ready".If there are loved ones and children involved I think that we have no choice but to be prepared.

How can we help others if our own state of mind is fragile,so I think we must start to wrap our mind around an alternative way of living so when the(SHTF) it wont be such a shock but a "Call of Duty"

I feel sorry for all the folks who have girlfriends/wives and children to take care of , I feel for them mainly cause of how hard it will be for them and most don't even understand the SHTF nor do they want to . I couldn't put a kid through that good thing i am single and no kids ....

For the young and the old their probably not mentally ready for anything bad.
The old saying; When the going gets tough, the tough get going. In other
words, those who are tough. It should be their duty to help them that are not.
