WHAT?!!

You are Effing kidding me aren't you?!!

'Come on, she was only 16..'!

That has to be the stupidest crap i've ever read!

Sorry, but that's the truth of it. I cannot believe anyone would try to excuse the murdering cow, because she was 16!

The murderers of little 2 year old toddler James Bulger basically stoned the poor little kid to death, and they were 10 years old. They got about 8 years each.

This murdering freak, got community bloody service, for stabbing a defenseless NEWBORN BABY 27 TIMES...that's 27 times...a newborn baby, snuffed out of existence minutes after taking it's first breath.

What a disgusting piece of murdering filth.

The 'judge' is a pathetic nitwit, he deserves to be investigated for gross negligence, hopefully the court of appeal will step in and provide at least a tiny bit of sanity in this case, and throw the horrible waste of space in a cold damp cell for a decade or two.

Hopefully.

Just read this post of yours, after i posted above.

MY FEELINGS EXACTLY!

I also thought that after the James Bulger case, the judiciary were planning on lowering the age at which someone could be tried as an adult?

The Bulger murderers were 10 at the time, and i remember there was a lot of debate at the time, whether or not they understood their crime or not. (of course they did)

I remember being 10 and being 16, and i would certainly have known it would have been wrong to hit another kid, let alone stone him to death, as for being 16, i was in the army at 18, and training alongside a couple of 16 year olds who were considered responsible and adult enough to handle automatic weapons! Let alone know that stabbing a defenseless newborn baby 27 time was sickening freakish slaughter!

I cannot believe some of the responses you have got to this thread mate.

You post the story, say you're sickened by it, and get zero stars...someone says 'she's made a mistake' (like she'd been caught cheating on a maths test at school or caught with a bag of weed or something!), and they get 4 stars..!!?

Sometimes this place is as bad as our justice system.

I agree with the concensus that the girl deserves a second chance, BUT ...

if the father of the baby killed it, would people be as forgiving? i highly doubt it!!!

If the father of the baby killed it, would he have just gone through the pain and trauma of unexpected childbirth all alone?

I am absolutely SICKENED by this.

Probably no where near as sickened as that girl was when she gave birth unexpectedly...

Talk about a complete mind warp!

First, a girl who apparently has good parents, cant keep her legs closed.

Excuse me? Really? You are now blaming a young girl with hormones for not "keeping her legs closed"?

How do you know she wasn't raped? How do you know she wasn't drugged? How do you know anything about this?

Nice parenting. Then she MURDERS the baby when its born.

Yep... happens a lot in nature... especially when its unexpected...

Then she doesnt even get a custodial sentence! What the HELL has this "justice" system come to when a cold hearted murderer basically gets away with it?

You've never given birth unexpectedly have you? I can tell you have tried real hard to empathize with this young girl.

And the worst part of all is that this murderers identity is protected under law, because of her age. She should be named and shamed so people know just exactly what she has done. She will probably go throughout life without telling anyone, and only her parents and the police will know.

Such is the power of forgiveness... And at such a young age... with such a shocking situation as to give birth unexpectedly...

Good for her!

The judge in this case is an absolute moron.

Well the judge knows enough to become a judge... so the judge is not an absolute moron...

EVERY murderer has to live with what they have done, and there are often very real, understandable corcumstances that drove them to murder their victim, but how many of them get this sort of leniency?

Because of the very real circumstances which led to this.... just as you mentioned....

This country gets lower and lower every day, and I am absolutely ASHAMED of it, and no longer call myself british.

I'd be ashamed of your country too... but not because of the youth ;-) Because it spawns non-empathetic emotional reflexers like yourself.

I do think that what this teenage girl did was wrong. But even though i wasnt there for it i can maybe understand why she did it. I think that alot of people that have posted that this is a complete outrage are people that have never given birth to a child, The things that go through your mind after birth is amazing, if you wanted the child but you can only imagine, what the teenage girl was thinking after going through all the pain, perhaps blood loss and then all of a sudden there is a little baby underneath her.

After all she is still just a child. We dont know exactly what her mental state was after the birth, if she thought she would be supported or shunned, we weren't there.

She shouldn't be demonized after all she will have to live with this tragic memory for the rest of her life, yes she couldve done things differently, but we have all been teens and we all know the quick-later-regretting decisions we make and just imagine those decisions being made just after giving birth in her case not knowing what the hell was going on.

She doesnt need to tell anyone, her name should not be made public, its her choice as to whether anyone knows about what she did, i highly doubt after going through this much trauma she will even think about getting pregnant. And even if she did would need a great deal of psychiatric help and counselling just to get through it.

This girl has put herself through enough pain without the public making her an outcast, especially when there are people worse than her out there, people that are walking the streets getting off scot free on multipule charges of child rape, pedophilia, kidnapping.

You can only not know your pregnant if your morbidly obese.

Also mental issues much? Ppl will no doubt say it was from incest and other such rumors, which is her get out of jail card.

Very lenient sentance for infanticide either way.

Not true. I didn't show at all with my first child despite my then, 98lbs frame.

However it is instinctively ingrained into any woman who has just given birth to protect the child she just gave birth to. The brain releases chemicals during labor to ensure this, so something seriously went wrong with this process.

Look you can all call what i say crap an be angry and disgusted. I am too.
Ofcourse it was a horrible thing to do. I didn't know that apperantly most 16 year olds are well adjusted members of society and never act on impulse, or hormones for that matter.

Sending an 10 year old (the other case that was mentioned) or a 16 year old to jail is not a solution.
They need serious help, not jailtime. No good can come from putting a kid into that kind of enviroment.

Go ahead and call me stupid or a softie, i still know i am a realist.
Hiding troubled kids in jails might make you feel better, but it doesn't work for me.
