As a kid I remember watching a moon landing where a box was found by the side of a crater. The news guy asked what the box was and was told it was left by one of the moon walkers, only the moon walkers were never anywhere near the box. The topic was dropped and no one said another word about it.

Goodness knows this would save communities millions on annual road repair but guess what greed and greasing "ol buddies" hands prevented it's successful usage in majority of communities. Here's a article Tires and roads

Now very difficult to find any MSM sources but I do remember seeing the story on the AP wire.

British tanks storm Basra jail to free undercover soldiers

British troops used tanks last night to break down the walls of a prison in the southern Iraqi city of Basra and free two undercover British soldiers who were seized earlier in the day by local police.

...the two undercover soldiers - almost certainly special forces - were held by Iraqi security forces...

The soldiers, who were said to have been wearing Arab headdress, were accused of firing at Iraqi police when stopped at a road block.

Muhammad al-Abadi, an official in the Basra governorate, told journalists the two undercover soldiers had looked suspicious to police. "A policeman approached them and then one of these guys fired at him. Then the police managed to capture them."

British special forces caught dressed as Arab 'terrorists'

There have been a number of incidents in this area and throughout Iraq in which police and civilians have been targeted and killed by "terrorists" or "insurgents". But this is the first time that any of those responsible have been caught in the act, and it is now clear that at least some of them are working directly for the occupying forces, as many Iraqis have openly suspected all along.

UK Soldiers Caught Dressed As Iraqis Killing Local Police

The reports stated two British commando special forces dressed as Iraqis have been caught by the Iraqis after they were found shooting and killing local policemen. And the Iraqis put them in jail.

The British army then, came with tanks, destroyed the jail and freed the two British commandos. In the process, all the Iraqi prisoners in the jail ran away to freedom.

Riots started, and I saw British tanks engulfed with Molotov coktails and British soldiers running out of their tanks, some were on fire.

This report gives credibility to the 'conspiracy theorists' who have long claimed many terrorist acts in Iraq are, in fact, being initiated and carried out by US, British and Israeli forces.

The TRUTH is the British had to either rescue or kill these two commandos in order to keep these operations secret. Fortunately for the two Brits, they were saved.

One story I heard was from early this year, and was about liquid spray-on glass. It was basically a new product that could be sprayed on just about anything, from tv's to kitchen sinks, it would stop cosmetic scratches, and make everything easier to clean.

It was even mentioned on here, and was soon to be released, but I haven't head anything about it since.

An interesting list. It is obvious why some of these have faded from view. The case of the "DC Madame" is obvious, it is a genuine cover-up. Some of the others, however, simply faded from view because they are no longer news. Scientists revise their estimate of the amount of hydroxyl radicals in the lunar soil; that's worth one screaming headline: "Water on the Moon!" Then what? If you're interested in following the story up, all the information is out there, There's just nothing the mass media finds interesting. Yet others never made it to respectable media because the sources didn't pass journalistic scrutiny. Newspapers and most TV news operations require confirmation from three independent sources before they accept an allegation as trustworthy... this is one reason why they seldom report "testimony" from self-proclaimed "whistle blowers." Certain blogs with an agenda have no such qualms (I'm looking at you, "Infowars.)

What a fascinating topic! All of the items mentioned are thought provoking. It gives me some inspiration for a future post on my website. Now which to choose....

You know, it happens to me all the time. Something will spring into my head and I think.... Why don't we ever hear about THAT anymore?? One example, and I don't know if it is a conspiracy or just something that got old... is the case of Alvin Greene, the strange fella who won the Senate primary in SC without a shred of campaigning or money spent (other than the $10,000 filing fee, which one would assume would be difficult to come up with for a man who is unemployed as Mr. Greene was at the time of his filing). No one knew who he was. So how the heck did he win by a landslide? Even in Congress there were those shouting "Conspiracy!", but I don't know what ever came of it. It was all over the MSM for a time, John Stewart lampooned it, the poor guy did interviews that were utterly embarrassing, and then just... poof! We don't hear anything about him anymore. And the main election hasn't happened yet. As far as I know he's still on the ballot.

The reason this sticks out in my mind so prominently is that, and I'll probably get laughed off the stage here.. something about him just screams Manchurian Candidate to me. I mean... just watch this interview:

Alvin Green Interview with Keith Olbermann

So, maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree here, but it definitely falls into the category of something that was splashed all over the media for a short time and then went away completely.

It has not gone away completely. The New York Times mentioned him in the Op/Ed section just yesterday, The suspicion is that he is a "trojan horse" run by Republican operatives to render the Democratic ticket unelectable. He'll be back in the limelight on election day.

Does anyone remember the story of a highly decorated intelligence officer who was hunted down in I think it was Houston and killed by the local police?
It would have been almost 2 years ago I think, it was highly suspicous at the time.

Yup.

www.foxnews.com...

Don't know what ever came from it though. I never really followed the story.

I may have missed it but what about a few things that where huge on ATS at the time but went by the way side in the MSM rather quickly.

The Barksdale missing nuke

Lots of strange happenings around that incident.

And...

FBI Fears Chinese Hackers Have Back Door Into US Government & Military

Another intriguing story that got a little play in the MSM but died quickly.

Rubberised tarmac (asphalt) is used quite widely in the UK, mainly as a safer landing surface around children's public play areas. It has a kind of bouncyness and can be dyed!

It is also used as a noise pollution reductor on some stretches of motorway in built up or urban areas and a topcoat of green dyed rubberised surfacing is commonly seen in urban cycle lanes.

My take on the fact that this obviously easily obtainable and useful material is not more widely used as road surfacing, is that it could negatively impact on car sales and repair operations. Environmental lobbyists voices are not so loud as those of the mightly combustion engine brigade.

C'mon... All that POWER? You saying that you wouldn't have... uhhm, enjoyed a fringe benefit or several? I'm sure he wasn't the first President to do so. And he won't be the last. One thing about Obama. I bet he'll stay true to his wife forever. Same with George W. Bush. I just don't see either of them straying from their wives.

Now, if I were married to Hilary... Hmmmmm... I dunno.
Realize this is half-jesting. But still... man.
