Has the quality of topics on ATS dropped?

Is is me or has the quality of some of the posts on here reflect a tabloid. i mean i expect to see some nutty stories in here considering that its a conspiracy site. But in the last year or so i have seen an influx of immaturity and banal posting. not only has the aggression gone up a notch but also some of the posts have been almost dumbed down. not to mention the posts that make the front page are not worth the photons there projecting. i know you have seen posts like these every week yes but maybe the reason there are so many posts like this is because its an actual problem. people dont usually notice when nothing is wrong. its only when things start to get ugly that things get noticed. i have been watching this site turn from a kick arse underground forum for information about fringe issues turn into a mass media marketed watered down toothless tiger. i guess money will do that to you.

i even find the irony that the conspiracy chicks do a EXPOSE on BP and what a evil conglomerate they are and then on the front page of ATS is a video advert for none other than BP. talk about hypocrisy. so BP are evil for not cleaning up the oil spill and not informing the general public as to whats going on but there ok when they are paying you to advertise on your website???? hmmm ok then.

Yea...

I've sort of seen a rise in aggression, and threads have become less interesting... To me that is. I don't know bout yalls..

It's obviously a disinformation campaign by those pesky, reptilian, shape-shifters from the illuminati, who want to flood these boards so you'll miss the Truth, that space jesus is headed towards earth on his intergalactic space cruiser to save us fom the demons and spread the message of peace, love and joy across the universe. I don't think BP is paying ATS to advertise here, the videos and other advertisement that pop up have to do with how you surf the net, it tracks your isp. It was explained by Skeptic Overlord in the ATS Issues thread not long ago.

oh goody im being tracked lol, yeah i have read somewhere on here there is cookie being tracked or some such thing. i dont know squat about net code so im not even going to attempt to understand how it works. but im sure someone is getting paid for the adverts on this site. and if memory serves me i do even remember some moons ago a post about people clicking adverts to support the sites donating to this site.

Actually it's kind of easy.

Basically Google Add Sense tracks the various sites that you use, your location, interests etc, and then formulates ads that are targeted by those results.

It's not nefarious in any way, I mean if you use Google you've been providing them with data for YEARS and so are billions of others. Same with Facebook or Myspace or any place that is free but has ads.

It is not ATS tracking you, it's your isp and it happens on all kind of sites, when you bring up a website the ads you get will not necessarily be the same ads I get.

i think your very close to the truth with that statement. there is such a feeling of apprehension on here like people waiting for something to happen. they blow even the smallest thing out of proportion just to say something exiting and cosmic is going on. The kids on here and there are kids on here are so bored with reality that they grasp at any straws of excitement.

I feel that way at times also, but I am learning how to weed through the already, talked to death threads, and trying to focus on something new or different or informative.

Ive also been noticing people reading others threads and then starting new threads on bits of info from others. This is getting kind of old.

Those that have been here a long time, just have to learn a new way. Thats what I'm doing, or I focus mostly on members names that I recognize, and have enjoyed their threads.

But then again thats just me

But seriously, if you keep watching often you sometimes catch something that's actually interesting maybe two or three times a week. Just think of the rest as entertainmen to kill the boredom while you wait. You have to admit, some of the nuttier ones are pretty funny in a scary sort of way.

Well you have to look at it from a growth perspective IMO. ATS is becoming more and more popular, therefore there are a wider variety of topics. Rehash of old topics, new ridiculous ones we've never heard of etc..

IF the content is less favorable than in years past, we only have ourselves to blame don't we? Be the change you want to see a wise man once said.

I will agree that I have to dig a little deeper to find stuff that's truly worth reading, but then again I do have wonderful friendships with some of the best thread makers in this place, so it's easy for me to stay updated.

And yes, people for generations have been obsessed with labeling and categorizing people. For example, did you know that cell phone companies who collected email addresses for mundane things like billing and shipping, actually compile large data bases of them and then sell them to advertisers and data miners?

Where do you think junk mail comes from when you aren't signing up for junk mail?

I agree, money does that to people. Note the society approval numbers and ats bank account ratings being tabbed right next to your name rather than in your profile, a surefire way to sway weak minds to click or not click based on how much ats money you have gained (by being pc mostly). I swear, as soon as I have 1000 points I will lash out at the usual suspects on the 911 forum, and lose all my points. Also, we are back to the oooh isn't it scary-look at the black background-motif. I just hate black backgrounds. Although craigslist sucks, at least you can read without strain, or having a spanking new computer monitor. It's like these people can't make up their minds if we should have choices or not. Then there's the standard creeping censorship. You expend thought and energy and come back to find threads are pulled because you mention that some of the names on a disinfo list you brought up from another site happen to have been among the first to respond to a disinfo thread here at ats. You know...the guy holding the bong who happens to show up whenever there's talk of paid agents etc.... But gee, he has a bong AND he has 12,000 ats points.

Seems all the guts have been ripped out of it. It is becoming very run of the mill. It's like the facebook billionaire teamed up with management to steer things in a new direction. Populist, passe, able to survive nwo demands.

There are still some animals left out in the yard

if you read the opening post you would see i actually address this issue. obviously the reason there are so many of these kinds of posts is because there are people who think this is a growing problem.
Being the change you wish to see is one thing. but whispering amongst a group of loud buffoons isnt going to result in quiet discussion. you will just get drowned out.

I did read the o.p. and my comment still stands. I do have to ask though, what do you hope to discuss/accomplish with this thread that was not discussed by all the many that came before? If it's a change in the direction of threads/topics/posts etc. that you wish to see, only action will accomplish that. Action in the way of newly posted threads regarding the content that you wish to see, anything less is simply more of the same (if you get my point)
