It is an open goal to take advantage of and reply with a joke and that's okay. But I consider this a very serious question.

Who to be the first liaison ....myself....and I am not joking..!!

My qualifications?....I am human.... for a start, I have no hidden agenda, I am a nobody... and I can built bridges.

Why?.....because I am motivated to use the opportunity to make our world a better one....for everybody.

Well I would agree with your choice of Carl Sagan, if he was alive still, that is.

My choice would be Brian Cox. He is a brilliant scientist with an everyman sort of demeanor.

I would like to be involved myself but id want to be a part of a group of complete random normal people, who have all kinds of different jobs. Basically put everyones names into a hat and pull them out. Reason being is that you know that the people contacting the aliens would have nothing to hold back and that the aliens would experience true people from the planet earth.

I wouldnt want any form of person from politics or related to government, reason being is becuase she can trust them as far as you can throw them. all the sneeky lies and things our countries of the world hide from the general public from their own people. I wouldnt want any type of military persons to make contact reason being obviously they have connections with governments and it may also seem as a threat to the aliens themselves.

Backing up my thoughts of random people to meet them is that they can provide the aliens of what it is like to be a normal person living under our trust worthy (or not so trust worthy) governments

I personally think the best person would be someone who is in contact with the Galactic Federation of Light, someone like Mr. Ivo Ashtar Benda in the Czech Republic. Don't get me wrong, I understand how some people feel about this space organization and I respect your skeptic opinions, however from my point of view it would be a good shot. I don't think Dr. Greer or Dr. Bassett would be good choices for first contact. I don't trust them that much. They would however serve a good role as consultants, no doubt. As for Mr. Obama - I am not sure, because that may seem that the USA is important than the rest of the world, which isn't really good. Michio Kaku is a good scientist, but so is Hawking. Are they good enough? The chosen lady from the UN is not a bad choice in my opinion, at least she speaks on behalf the UN - the united nations of this planet. It's hard to answer this question really, but I hope my view will be useful to you.

Perfect choice, in my opinion...

I'll second that one.

no single person...it would have to be a representitive of all nations on earth

as unpopular as it is, the UN would be the best place for initial contact as it shows no favoritism towards any one country, political agenda, race, etc...

The UN is screwed up, yes, but you know what...the human race is screwed up...I would venture to say the UN is a perfect representation of the people currently...

if aliens wish to understand us, they need to look no further...and if we are ashamed at the absolute screwy nature of the UN, well, don't blame them...blame yourself...they simply reflect us as a whole...want to change how things are, then first change yourself and how you view opposing thoughts...

I guess I'd send either Blossom Goodchild or Sarah Palin. One claims to know aliens and the other is possibly some lower form of alien life. Just sayin'.

well, it certainly shouldn't be someone who represents only one small group of people, be it the catholic church (the pope) or americans (Obama)... (and i'm not saying that just because i hate both of them... meaning the leaders, not groups
)

but if you insist on having a politician as a first contact, i can think of only one person, the current secretary-general of the United Nations... imho he is the one person closest to having the right to speak on behalf of all people in the world

Got to be 2 or 3.

Me.
John Lydon.

Dolphins can of course be debated...I think they are very clever, but are simply adapters...they will never build a spaceship to go check out the stars.

I think that ultimately, any interstellar species would be concerned about the ones starting to leave the planet...which is us...so even if we aren't the brightest of species on earth, we are the ones of concern for them.

Umm Carl Sagan is dead, I sorry but if I was landing on a alien planet and they tried to get me to talk to there dead ancestor I'd be offended.
