I did not expect that ending! I think that from here on what will become of sam remains unknown. But perhaps the whle lure to this town was part of an even bigger plot to bring down the wall?

Something I thought of the other day that just dawned on me.

Two of the meanest demons in the show were Alastair and Crowley.

Then it hit me.

Aleister Crowley

Just an interesting tidbit as I was watching some older episodes today.

Yeap. They won't leave it alone.Souless Sam was scary and strong and this is what they need if they want to fight the other scary thing that walks free now,the Mother.I was expecting the wall to come down after only one episode,so yes it was a surprise for me as well.

Don't you love them when they do this kind of stuff? They have these "tributes" more often than you think.Especially in the older episodes, check out the boys aliases
Aliases season 4

I knew about the aliases, but it just dawned on me that they have more stuff goin' on. Like the "devil's traps" they use are actually pentacles from the Key of Solomon an actual occult book.

I have bought "John Winchester's journal"(ok i admit I'M A GEEK
) which is the same as the one they use in the show(or almost the same),there are stuff in there about the occult and some exorcism rituals that are the real thing. They had no reason not to use some of the real stuff or real names when the whole show is about demons, monsters etc.
The writers have done a great job, researching metaphysics, occult and supernatural.

That's true, they have done a lot of research into the occult for this show, kinda reminds me of that episode where they were on the film set hunting that ghost? Season 2 Episode 18 "Hollywood Babylon".

Anywho, onto this season and this weeks episode. Looks like poor Sam is not only going to have to deal with memories of his body on earth without his soul, but also dealing with memories of his soul in the cage with Lucifer and Michael. That ought to be a strange integration period.

Hmmm, they have a book for sale do they?
I may have to look into that right there.
The episode was pretty good. I like how Sam remembered a bit as he rolled into town.
Soulless Sam left a mess for soulful Sam to deal with. He's paying for his past deeds these days.
He could have avoided trouble if he would have killed the cop when he was pulled over, instead he beat him and left him behind.

Killing the Mother seemed too easy to me (unless I misunderstood something and she wasn't the Mother).
The boys just walk in and slash her dead. I was surprised that those who Sam put down were still alive.

It wasn't the mother, it was a monster called (I think) an arachnia, some European immigrant monster like many of the others that Sam and Samuel fought over the last year, it was rather easy to put down, but the problem was that many of the "eggs" were left behind and weren't destroyed, and that's why they came back.

Nope, the "Purgatory Mother" is still out there and wasn't dealt with at all in this episode. This was more along the lines of bad Karma coming back to bite Sam on the butt.

Actually they have many books on sale
The journal, novels, companions, the book of all the creatures, take your pick...
Anyway John's journal ends where the first season begins. There are many information about the past.John's quest on finding Azazel, hunting journals etc.Very good piece of work.

My thoughts on the writing is I agree they really should take as much information as they can from the stories and history of angels, monsters and what ever rituals they can find information about.
As to the episode I am sorry that they could not just leave Sam with his soul alone, however I do suppose that to much has happened to him to be able to just leave it alone. Sam now being good wants to make as much right as he can, that is what the two of them do.
As to the ending that was interesting. He is a tough sob, so I like to think he will survive the wall coming down or the memories, which ever it is. Dean will of coarse get what ever help he needs to keep Sam alive. I am thinking Cas will come into the picture, however I also think the one person that might be able to keep Sam alive with the memories of the fire and brimstone would be Michael. So it might be interesting if he comes back into the picture.
Sam being the one to fight the mother again is another good idea, it might be right.

I think maybe the arachnia and the easy slaying was just a diversion by the writers to take us off guard before hitting us with the bombshell as many people did not expect the memories to have such a sudden impact. I still think that something is luring sam and the whole thing may have been a set up. We will see though.

Also is the winchester book a licenced prop or is it fan made? That would be an awesome collectors piece!

If your referring to the book of Winchester as written by the profit that is a prop. But all it really does is tell the stories of there hunting so not like you could not get those books and read them. For the fans the writers might even put them in the form of a narrative as though written by the profit.
The idea that he is being played by death is a good idea. The way I look at it is what would death be playing tword? Death in his own right holds more power then both Michael and Lucifer. So why would he want to play the Winchesters.

Not bad a run of the mill hunter episode with an un expected slight twist, i was expecting another cliff hanger but i guess it was intentionally done to make us drop our guards for the next episode

It was entertaining. I thought it was similar to those old navy commercials with the posed mannequins with voice overs. This would have done better with the old Sammie. He would have let the ghost kill the co-worker instead of saving him and allowing the sister to die.

Poor Dean got parent trapped. He got blamed by his ex for messing with her head, when it was her son who called him there? The whole episode seemed to be about injustice. Perhaps the boys needed another lesson in cause and effect.

Next week's looks familiar, doesn't it?

First off I did not completely get what happened to Isable at the end. I got it she died but I just did not get how it happened to her. If any one could fill that in please do so.
I have said in the past I would like Dean to have been able to keep his surrogate family and still be able to be a hunter. The way this season is going and with this episode I do think it has reinforced the point that it can not happen that way. To me that is still unfortunate.

Isabel was supposed to get in the car and stay there, but instead she got out and got impaled when Dean's car smashed the window. Christine meets Final Destination sort of karma.

Dean was all like "No! Not my baby!". You could really feel for him.

I've actually gotten behind since season 5. It was my first season watching the show, and was pretty dark at times, especially towards the end of the season, but it was awesome. How is season 6? I watched the 1st episode and part of the 2nd, and it just seemed kind of slow. Sort of a big drop off from the huge suspense and butt kicking at the end of season 5.

Kinda sucks i can't do what i used to, watch The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural back to back. Just haven't really gotten around to it.
