Ok new theory they are totally installing a new feature Mindbook, lets your friends read your mind instantly, no more pesky status updates now everyone can just read your mind. Governments can control everyone now instantly!!

That is so very sad that people equate FB with the entire internet.

I just did a Facebook poll asking this question and linked it to my Twitter account.

So far the vote stands at 117/3 in favor of "yes".

It's up now? Phew, some of you almost had to interact with actual people there for a few minutes!

Hahah, I thought this was a joke thread at first. Seriously, I think someone a couple months ago made a joke about how Facebook has become such a religious part of people's lives that if it goes down for just a few minutes, panic would ensue.

I guess this is a case of life imitating art =)

News Story here

Facebook has been having trouble with their Graph API. From what I've seen when programming the "Fan" page, Facebook is notorious for constantly changing around code. I've had several issues with .swf embeds and "livefeed" embeds within the facebook page. Their API is so scrambled this was bound to happen at one point.

LOL, I like the OP. When Facebook goes down for (at the time) 15 minutes his first reaction is not to move along with life, but instead post on the internet about it. Oh the humanity. We truly are doomed.

Does it make me a horrible person to wish Facebook (and the related ilk) would go away? Granted it makes it easier to keep in touch with some far away friends, but I found a lot of people who added me were just acquaintances who often didn't keep in touch offline anyway.
So why would they care about being "friends" on a website? Did the online community replace the physical one? Instead of rows upon rows of identical houses in Suburbia, we have millions upon millions of carbon copy websites.

And as I read your words, on a computer screen, I suddenly am fully aware of the definition of "irony".

Thanks Joe. My computer literacy is not one of my strong points. I don't know what exactly you said, but I'm sure it makes sense

Thanks for sharing your expertise with us,

What do you mean, some stuff has disappeared? Do you mean Facebook page content, or personal stuff, or something else? I'm just trying to be sure I understand what you're saying.

Yep, some stuff disappeared, in the "people you know section" there were pictures of people who had not been added as a friend, I went to look at one profile, and when I returned, (clicked back) to the other pictures they were gone. Maybe the reason is something mundane, but I don't see why, and would lack continuity.
