Nope. 'Cuz the white Anglo-Saxon males still run the show.

...A white president doesn't have to make that call.

On the other hand the WASP PTB are calling on their fellow WASPs to procreate - 'cuz they're not having babies and TPTB are getting quite worried about the numbers.

Another level of hidden racism.

Affirmative Action in the U.S. has made blacks...who have largely lifted themselves out of poverty, look like people who owe their rise to affirmative action and other government programs" - Dr. T Sowell

www1.american.edu...

I think those statistics show the statement that blacks "have largely lifted themselves out of poverty," for the lie, and probably politically motivated, lie, that it is.

The truth is that real racism was obliterated one hundred years ago...except for a tiny minority of crazies.

Real racism wouldn't include segregated colleges; public schools; institutionalized segregation of public services, such as buses and public water fountains? Illegality of interracial marriages, which wasn't stopped until 1967? And besides the public, officially sanctioned racism we could hardly call the KKK and other racists active throughout the south throughout the "civil rights era" a "tiny minority" could we really? The bombings and intimidation from the period certainly wouldn't argue that racism had been "obliterated" decades in the past. This thread is revisionism at its worst. I won't bother to respond to the affirmative action slant, as the foundation of this argument is a cesspit of revisionist garbage.

If you don't think the kkk is a minority in the south, maybe you should look again......funny, if you're from the south you automatically are a racist......never really did understand that.

I'm from the south myself. I don't believe the KKK are effective, widespread, or politically accepted in the south today. I edited my post to clarify the point. I do find it highly suspicious of your motives that that one point was the only thing you responded to when I clearly pointed out that the initial statement that racism was 100 years dead and gone was not even close to the facts.
But you ignore what doesn't suit you, okay?

edit to add: Another possibility, we've had a time jump to, say 2076, and it's been 100 or more years since racism was an institutionalized fact, and it's time to take the long view.

100 years ago? What about all of that Civil Rights stuff? You know, that part in our history where people made other people sit in the backs of buses and drink out of different water fountains and use different public facilities because of the color of their skin?

well hell, if that ain't racism, then I don't know what is!

The stats show that 70% of blacks are above the poverty line. They dont show that affirmative action has lifted them out of poverty.

Actually, what they show is very little change in 29 years. From, say 27.5% down to about 24% below the poverty line, while also showing whites holding steady at about 8% for the same period. That you defend this as an acceptable improvement speaks volumes about where you're coming from. And since my point clearly had nothing to do with "affirmative action," and everything to do with the absurdity of the assertion in the opening quote that blacks had largely lifted themselves out of poverty, I'm not sure you're capable of honest debate. Oh, and the fact that you ignore my other points completely, reinforces that notion. I'll give you another chance, though, I'm gracious like that.

I'm not going to call you a racist. I'm going to let your OP, and subsequent responses speak for themselves.

Everyone has it in their own ability to make of their life what they want (except those with mental/physical disabilities)

Oh really? I suppose because I'm deaf, I'm supposed to have lowered expectations in life?

I certainly hope it was a typo because it makes affirmative action look like a good thing.

There is the open type of racism of the far-right and the hidden type of racism of the far-left. The hidden type of racism is more dangerous because most people - including the far-left - are not even aware of it being racism.

There is both hidden and open racism on the left and the right of the political spectrum.

The seed of this stupidity lies at the core of leftist ideology that claims that all minority groups are "oppressed" and the "ruling class" is automatically "the oppressor".

What?

Brainwashed in this way, a leftist thinks that just because 1% of the far-right behave and talk like racists, that this applies to 99% of the right-wing.
Brainwashed in this way, an idiot believes that because some leftists subscribe to such stupidity, all must do.

Whilst I too disagree with 'affirmative action' and its UK equivalent, I feel compelled to point out that such policies aren't restricted simply to the 'far' left.

That depends whether it severely impedes you or not.

For example, a man with cerebral palsy may wish to become the world's greatest weightlifter; however, due to no fault of his own, the chances are that he probably won't be. Likewise, a blind man may wish to become a great formula one driver, or a fighter pilot - neither of which are going to happen (at least until technology advances sufficiently).

People who are badly physically or mentally impaired will, by nature, usually have less choices available to them than a fully fit and healthy person.

This whole thread is bull anyway.

We might as well ditch affirmative action and legalize discrimination again. Oh wait, discrimination is still out there. Either make it possible for people like me to find employment or quit crying about those who've given up and gone on the dole.

Why is it absurd to think that the blacks that are not in poverty have lifted themselves out of poverty? If not them, who did?

[more.

This also goes for gender norming where in professions like a firefighter women are allowed to perforrm at a far less physical ability to get a job. In NYC, to become a fire fighter, a male candidate must carry a dummy of 120lbs down two flights of stairs. A female candidate needs to drag the dummy down. Who would you rather come and get you out of a burning building, a gent who is going to pick you up or a woman who is going to drag you down by your feet?

are you serious?

i want a frozen frappicinno when that "SNIP' gets me out of the burning building. so if it's a girl or a guy as long as my ass ain't on fire, i really don't care. lol.

you like being carried by strong firemen?

Well, affirmative action may not have worked for the black community, but it has worked wonders for women in the workforce. Although affirmative action is generally associated with blacks in this country, the greatest beneficiary of affirmative action programs have been women, from getting into college to getting into middle management, to getting into the boardroom.

Also, I notice a lot of misunderstanding about how most affirmative action works. It is most often used when two candidates are just about equal in every way except ethnicity. If 98% of your workforce, or your student body is one ethnicity, then you might consider having a bit of diversity a plus, given the same qualifications.

Additionally. If a someone gets into college through affirmative action (like Clarence Thomas did), that has nothing to do with HOW he does in college. If he can't handle the work, he'll flunk out. If he excels (like Thomas did) then, clearly he was qualified to be there, even if affirmative action gave him a hand up getting into the school.

The HIDDEN racism? NOT SO HIDDEN!

Obama himself spent 20 years in an anti-white black-power cult that blamed white people for every problem on the planet. Obama himself, in his book, spewed racist remarks. His wifeypoo did throughout her pre-whitehouse time.

Obama's Church Not Your Average Christian Church

The Democrat Party's Long History of Racism
History News Network - Racist History of the Democrat Party
The Democratic Party's Legacy of Racism

This is a REALLY good article -
Institutionalized Racism and the Democratic Party

And of course we have the fact that the Democratic Party is massively in love with abortion 'rights' but fails to acknowledge that it is black genocide ... fails to acknowledge that the roots of abortion 'rights' came from Margaret Sanger ...a woman who hated black skinned people and wanted to thin out the herd.

abortion is black genocide

Human Events Article

Quotes from the article -

White Republicans nationally are 25 percentage points more likely on average to vote for the Democratic senatorial candidate when the GOP hopeful is black. ...In House races, white Democrats are 38 percentage points less likely to vote Democratic if their candidate is black."
