"Why do YOU like Americans".....is more appropriate.

You began this thread with a 'negative' connotation towards Americans.
Though I have not read the thread, for sake of 'time management', I would assume if you ask a negative question, you will get a negative answer. This does not seem constructive and I could assume the thread would end such a way.

America itself is a microcosm of the 'world's populations.
Somehow, someway, the melting pot melted a multiplicity of invention and creativity encouraged by the multiple opportunities it implied for the immigrant. Freedom, Liberty and 'that' pursuit of happiness guarded by the wisdom of the Bill of Rights and the carefully constructed Constitution, offered man what he had not seen since the days dawn of the Roman Empire.

This is no longer the case.
Americans find it increasing difficult to relate to the country they grew up in.
An obvious 'coup' has been in the works though for quite some time now.
The people are awakening to who was behind the scenes controlling everything from the pentagon, to intelligence agencies, to politicians, to the feds, to the international banks to folks with more money than Sense.

Point being, when one insults the 'American' people, in essence they are insulting the world, since folks from all over the world increasingly make up the US population. This was part of the NWO plan to infiltrate, bankrupt, and further divide and conquer the people of the US as well as multiple other countries around the world. Long topic, won't rehash, though one is likely to understand what I say and where it comes from.....

The politicians and the government on the other hand, are clearly Not on the side of the 'people'.
ThIs is the 'primary' source of the friction and fire.
Kudos to Alex of Infowars.com and to his staff and 'helpers' for having the courage and audacity to report Much of the truth the world has been absent of for so.....too long.

i'll try to keep it short. im canadian. i've encountered many many americans in my short 24 years. i also worked for a company that assisted american customers. i've spoken literally to thousands of americans. there are similar attitudes among all of them. rudeness, arrogance, ignorance, closed minded, immature, sense of entitlement, low intellect, greedy. its just that the typical american attitudes about life, community, country, etc. are very different from the attitudes of canadians. which is why i think that canadians have such strong opinions about the american people. we've encountered enough jerks to not want to deal with any of them. but i do know many wonderful american people, so its just really unfortunate that the wonderful people are overshadowed by large numbers of not so wonderful people.

Hate is an emotion I save for my enemies, as an ex-pat I was born there back in 1961, so they're not enemies. What I do find contemptable is:

Their exasperating faith in their government and the two party system. As a regular poster on HP I run into these people continously, they repeat the partyline dogma as if rehearsed. If their party wins look how wonderful, if they lose it's because of the opposition. Don't they know all viable candidates of both parties get their campaigns and careers financed by the same fat cats, and they're the ones calling the shots, and have been for quite some time now?

The way they've let their desires take priority over their values. Lifestyle obsession, rampant consumerism, so much ambition so little time, these people want more stuff and they're not really sure why. For life to have meaning and be meaningful you've got to do meaningful things, not just work your butt off and buy things. Integrity is all but gone from there, everything and everyone is for sale. Money can buy you lot's of things but real satisfaction comes from defending your family and your values.

EVERYTHING about their government's foreign policy. I could write an anti history book, but maybe the most outstanding thing is the way they've been interfering in other countries, setting up cronie governments, and all to protect private interests and not national ones. The way they and their british friends have been abusing the middle east since WWII and when the muslims go radical and strike back it's because they're part of an axis of evil. It's nauseating, if they want to stop terrorism they should start by staying home.

The way they presume that since things are bad there they got to be worse everywhere else. A lot of friends and family think my new home is a third world country, but if it weren't for Spain, Columbus wouldn't have sailed. Yeah I know Spain has one heck of a barbarous history, but that's not now. I don't know how many times I've read in US MSM how Europe's economy is definitely gonna tank, Greece is going to pull them down. Blah, blah, blah. Never even came close, in fact things are starting to recover, not like the USA. Much more civilized, much less fear and crime, social medicine - yes it's free to all and believe me I've been in hospitals on both sides - medically Spain has nothing to envy the US. Just forget the BS about the USA having a superior lifestyle, that's the biggest lie ever! Although it may have been true in the 50's and 60's, it's no where near it now.

The way they whine endlessly about paying taxes. I guess this is more about the individual effort obsession and hero worship, combined with plain old fasioned greed. No man is an island. A man without family is nobody and a family without community has no way of bettering themselves. We pay huge taxes, here in Europe if you buy a house or a car or anything, it's 18% VAT tax, yes you read that right nearly one fifth, and that's just sales tax, we have income tax, property tax etc.. It used to drive me nuts when I first got here, but you take into account the socialized medicine, public transportation to everywhere even rural areas, well maintained infrastructures and roads, the money spent on pure research, the quality education and it's low cost, hmm lemme cut to the chase - The best things in life aren't free - so pay your taxes and smile. Give unto Ceasar what is his.

I think I could continue, but that's the worst of it, my advice to Americans, emmigrate before they take away your right to.

I will try to answer the quetion this tread asks by making these observations. I am from Australia.

Amricians have a habit of corrupting the culture of every country they go to. many years ago when I was young I went to Bankok the capital of Thiland in Aisa. I was advised by another Auatralian I met theere who had been there for a long time to make it known to locas I met that I was Austrlain and not Americian as the locals hated the Americians becausse they corrupted the local culture and had no respect for local customs etc.

Many People regard Americians as loud and full of themseleves.

Americians have exerted a lot of inlfuence on many other cultures either deliberately or inadvertantly. An american could easily write a book called "how to take over a country without firing a shot - flood them our culture."

This applies to Australia. I do not know why but it saddens me to notice just how much we Australians seem to regard things American as superior to things Australian. Aussies seem to fall over theselves in a deperate attempt to adopt things American, eg your ways of pronouncing words your phrases etc. Many aussies now say miller-terry instead of militt-tree, testa-moany instead of testaminee or, evidence, as we used to say once upon a time.

Our sports broadcasters talk about Deeeee-fence instaed of def-ence or 'down back' instead of 'in def-ense'

On the 26 Jaunary, our national day, we Aussies will run around waving aussie flags shouting Aussie Aussie Aussie but almost talking Americian. Leading up to the national day we will even have takback radio inviting people to phone in and relate what is means to be Australian. See how we have to keep trying to define ourselves??

We have shops in my state that sell nothing but things American, star spangled banners by the dozen. How many shops in the US sell Aussie stuff????

get the idea???

hope this helps
regards

Why do I hate America? I don't, that I'm aware of...

Lived here all my life. Are there certain things about my country I don't like? Oh, hell yes...

The general apathy of the citizenry. Lack of involvement in matters that concern us all, yes even you unfortunates living outside our borders in those no where places like, oh, Europe and stuff.

...

...

Our apathy. Our growing dependence upon nanny government to shelter us from life's travails. Our rudeness, otherwise termed as "keepin' it real"...

Did I mention apathy? When a nation, that prides itself on its republican form of democracy has voter turnouts of barely fifty percent, most times less, this is a problem. Yet we caterwaul like scalded cats when things in govt. go bad. I call that hypocrisy. ...and it's growing by the day.

But as bad as that is, there are still many things to love about this, my country.

The land.

The Great Plains. Stand on the grasslands of the Dakotas, and watch as the wind twists and turns the grass.

The Appalachian mountains. God's gift to humanity. Some of the loveliest places the world has to offer.

The Rockie mountains. Mother Earth reaching for Father Sky. Aspens shaking in the summer breezes.

The Pacific and Atlantic coasts...where land meets the sea, and the beauty that only rock, wave, and wind can create.

Alaska. A separate category. Where my heart, and a good portion of my soul reside. Where a million shades of gray, green, and white create a landscape that can only be a vision of Heaven transplanted to Earth.

The culture. Attend a bluegrass festival. An old fashioned hoe-down square dance. A baseball game in small town America. A county fair. These things will give you a view into the real America, that no two minute news report could ever give you. These are Americans... Rude. Loud. Caring. Curious. Giving. ...and many more. In other words? Just folks, very similar to the ones found everywhere else in the world.

All these things are America, too. There's much more to love than there is to hate. Anyone saying differently doesn't know America at all...

How strange is that? We're just like you, yes you...the ones living in Europe. ...or Africa... Or Asia... Or anywhere else in the world. Don't know why that would be, we are from Europe... or Africa... or Asia... We're also from North America. South America. ...and every point on the globe.

We are you. Hate America? You're going a long ways towards hating yourself. Love America? ...and you're loving yourselves. We are you. You are us.

That first video you posted made me embarrassed just to watch it. Tony Blair, a skater?

Everyone in my life knows who Tony Blair is, I haven't once found one person who didn't. In every society you will have your idiots, and when you point them out like that person did in your video, it can easily be judged in the wrong light (i.e. everyone in that society is an idiot).

I know I am not an idiot, though I do admit to not knowing many things. I do have willful ignorance for certain topics, while I explore into topics of interest in depth. Does this make me an idiot? I don't think it does, though my opinion on myself isn't credible.

Sure, I have been called an idiot in passing, but I have been told I was smart more times than not, usually by those who are willfully ignorant in my topics of interest.

Not all Americans are THAT dumb, I of course referring to the video. Granted, a lot of Americans are that dumb. Look around, don't you have idiots in your society, too? Couldn't you go around with a camera and ask the idiots that you see questions and have them answer them, then make a montage of that footage? Surely you could, and people would think the whole lot were idiots.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

A lot of people say that Americans have no culture. I get frustrated when I hear this. Like you listed, there are many things to American culture, as there is for every single culture ever in existence. Most of the culture here in the United States of America is a mix between other cultures, which is wonderful.

For those of you who believe the only thing to American culture is eating and buying everything beyond our budget, come to Texas. Go to Louisiana, go to Florida, go to New York. You will see so much culture, you wont believe your eyes.

Witness the Americana way of life, the real American way of life. As seagull said wonderfully, no two-minute news report could possibly describe it. Those are the real Americans.

I'm ashamed of being American.

My ancestors slaughtered the natives of this land, set up a dictatorship disguised under words like "democracy", and have engaged in genocide around the globe ever since.

Americans today are so "proud" of their nationality and culture, yet most are either completely lacking in any real standing positive values, or flip-flop according to what the media tells them to believe.

We let our government do things like criminalize marijuana, while allowing pharmaceutical companies to use us as lab rats.

Our public education system is nothing more than a glorified daycare, where basic knowledge is stretched out over 12 years, in the end resulting in a mostly useless education.

Our monetary system was stolen by private bankers decades ago, and Americans sheepishly accept inflation as the normal model for a 'healthy' economy.

The list goes on...and on...
Amercans are DUUUUUMB. (Can you say "American IDLE"?)

What is the point of this remark other than to start a flame war? Great, you are ashamed of being an American. You are not obligated to like it. You have your opinion, and you stated your opinion, and I respect your opinion.

Calling anyone that opposes your opinion a "dummy" is not the best approach.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the point of this question. For god's sake, there are ignorant fools in every country. But it's fashionable to bash the Yanks. Why don't we just draw a line under this topic (not this thread I'm not THAT arrogant) and produce something that is interesting, educational or though provoking.

I just don't see the point.

If any body "hates" Americans, then you are contributing to the World's problems, it's a cliché but love is the solution. Embrace the fact that Americans (and the rest of us) aren't perfect, acknowledge the fact that by hating America, you are as ignorant as those you're hating.

Bed bugs cannot jump or fly. So what happens when someone sees one and tries to kill it and mechanical parts come out? Or do the robotic bed bugs stay under the sheets all the time? If so, what kind of lame spy device would that be, always hidden with no visibility?

Your theory is potentially the least thought out one I have heard. Even the reptilian theory laughs at yours.

Hmmm...tough cross to bear, isn't it?

My ancestors slaughtered the natives of this land, set up a dictatorship disguised under words like "democracy", and have engaged in genocide around the globe ever since.

So, you're going plead guilty, and bear the "shame", for actions your rather remote ancestors may, or may not, have carried out? OK, have fun with that.

Dictatorship? Really? Why don't you ask someone who has actually lived under one what a dictatorship is actually like. A Russian who lived under the rule of Stalin. A Cambodian who survived Pol Pot? A Ugandan who survived Idi Amin... The list is only somewhat endless... America a dictatorship? You don't even know what one is, quite obviously...

Genocide. True enough, that the United State govt. has goofed in big ways. No real argument there. However, that is not the American people, though we do, as voters bear some responsibility for that. But "engaged in genocide around the globe ever since"? Hyperbolic rhetoric of a most over the top fashion.

Americans today are so "proud" of their nationality and culture, yet most are either completely lacking in any real standing positive values, or flip-flop according to what the media tells them to believe.

Indeed, I am. Thanks for noticing. ...what's a positive value? You yammer on about them, yet don't list a one...what's up with that? The vast majority of American's couldn't careless about your values, seriously...the noisy ones, who profess to, are a small, though sometimes disturbingly effective minority. You don't like it? Do something about it. Quit sitting there whining about it over the interwebs and get involved. Be one of those positive values you mentioned but didn't define...or at least a personification of them.

We let our government do things like criminalize marijuana, while allowing pharmaceutical companies to use us as lab rats.

Criminalize marijuana? You're equating that with the Indian Wars of the westward expansion? Really? Not sure, but I think you're priorities just got exposed... As for the Big Pharms? We agree on something at last...

Our public education system is nothing more than a glorified daycare, where basic knowledge is stretched out over 12 years, in the end resulting in a mostly useless education.

Huh. We agree again. How about that? However, an education is what you make of it. Depending upon a govt. to teach our kids anything at all is foolish in the extreme. Depending upon govt. to do anything, at all, is foolish, too. Not without oversight by it's citizens. That would be you. Until such time as you gather up your shame and leave, should you be so inclined... That would also include me, and everyone else living here.

Our monetary system was stolen by private bankers decades ago, and Americans sheepishly accept inflation as the normal model for a 'healthy' economy.

If it's as bad as you seem to think, why, oh why, do you not attempt to do something about it? Then again, it's easier to rant and rave from the anonymity of the computer screen, isn't it?

The list goes on...and on...
Amercans are DUUUUUMB. (Can you say "American IDLE"?)]/quote]

Americans are, as has been pointed out many times, not a whole lot different then people anywhere else... American Idle? Came up with that one all on your own, did you? I see much less "idle" than you apparently, every morning I see thousands of people going off to work, taking their children off to school, and otherwise making a living. Idle? You need to get out more...

Only the dummy Americans will disagree with me. =)

If not agreeing with your take on America, and Americans, than color me with that paintbrush.

Question: Why do you hate Americans? Can you give rational reasoning behind your contempt for the American people?

After all these pages I am wondering if you got your answer? I am also wondering why you even asked the question in the first place? Were you genuinely seeking information, or were you just hoping to be able to counter what you saw as common world opinion?

Do you think there is actual hate out there, or more dislike for what some people in the USA do or say? Is it all "Americans" or just some, like those in the videos?

So, was it worth it? Not knowing what your agenda or goal was, is there anything you gleaned here that you did not already know? Were there points you hoped the rest of the world would get?

Just wondering ........

I had no agenda. I started this thread to see if anyone could give me legitimate reasons as to why they don't like Americans, because in today's world, all you really have to do is claim your stance, no matter how ignorantly done, and beat down anyone who opposes you with name calling or other things along those lines.

I also wanted to see why people liked Americans.

I think the best answer I found was by Seagull, which you may click the link to read.

I value everyone's opinion, even though I may not agree with them. They have a right, I believe, to free speech. I am not an expert on foreign rights or constitutions by any means, but I believe, even if you are not an American citizen, you should be afforded unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; free speech, free press, freedom of religion and from religion, that should be the way of life for all.

And since the fundamental values of which this nation (the United States of America) was founded upon are as listed above, that is why I love being an American. That does not mean I am arrogant, ignorant, fat, lazy, nor a sheep to my own Government. I am who I am, I live how I wish, I abide the laws I feel are just and fair, and I take a point of view that can see both sides of the hill. I believe in justice, equality, and freedom. I believe in limited government, a republic of the people, by the people, and for the people.

All of this hatred and contempt, or whatever you wish to call it, is unnecessary and completely deconstructive. Please, if you will, take a look at the answers given by people just like you and really think about everything that has been said, as well as what you may believe. Is hate really the answer? Has it ever advanced your life? Has it ever made you happy?

I know the answer.

Do not hate Americans. Do not hate Muslims, Jews, Christians, Japanese, Russians, French, Irish, Welsh, English, Australians, New Zealanders, Chinese, Koreans, Cubans, Mexicans. We all have many things in common, but above all else, we wish to be happy. We all want love and acceptance and tolerance, whether we choose to admit it or not. We were all created the same way, whether you believe in Creationism or Evolution. We all cry, we all hurt, we all bleed. The color of our blood is the same though our skin may not, we feel pain the same way. We are all the same.

If you take a moment to think about that, all of your troubles will disappear, even if for a moment. How great of a feeling is that? Hatred is not the answer.

So let me cover a few points here.. As an American:

Everyone claiming that "Americans" are ignorant, are just as ignorant.. if not MORE ignorant for making such a claim. Ignorance is intolerance. Does it not make you just as ignorant to believe that YOU have it "right", that your ideals or beliefs or cultures are superior to that of an American's? Everyone is conditioned differently. That includes people in my own neighborhood. I wouldn't expect my neighbor to believe everything that I do, and I would never force him/her to. Why do you expect Americans to be just like you? We don't expect you to be just like us, you choose to do it. I mean hell, we market products all over the world because we figured out people want it. We aren't cramming it down your throats. If you're so sick of the non existent "American Culture" taking over your cultures, do something to stop it. You don't have to Americanize yourself. If other people want to emulate Americans.. Let them, it isn't your place to tell anyone what to do aside from yourself and maybe your children for a few odd years. There may be some ignorant Americans, but I'd venture to guess there is a proportional ratio of ignorant people wherever you are from. Aha.. Ignorance is bliss though. I think that may explain quite a bit about the problems many of you have with Americans.

So what if we love our country? What is wrong with passionately showing our pride? Tell me, are you not proud enough of your own country to wave a flag? Sure there are things our GOVERNMENT has done that may cast the Red White and Blue in a dim light, but how many of you from other countries can say you agree with everything your government does/did/will do? AMERICA is an idea, a way of life, the right to be free. It is not the tyrannical mindless workings of our so called "Democracy". It is not our government. AMERICA is FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE. Some corrupt individuals have learned how to exploit the people here.

Please do not forget all of the times the United States has extended a helping hand. Sometimes we may overstep our boundary, but again, this is not the citizens' fault. Where I'm from, whether the end result is what we desired or not.. We are always ready to thank those who at least attempted to help.

We've been conditioned to succeed. To work hard, to seize the day. Carpe Diem! We may be cocky, but rightfully so. I call it confidence. We aren't half as bad as the French, but I'm not here to make ignorant claims. You were conditioned in a different manner. For whatever reason your conditioning didn't have the same outcome as the American conditioning, but we aren't pointing fingers at you guys. We aren't constantly talking about how much we hate you. (The Middle East and Muslim Religion have been a target in recent times, but the general American public realizes that there is a difference between "Muslim Radicals" and Muslims.. Just as there is a difference between Catholics, Christians and our radical equivalent.. The "Evangelicals". Most people in the states don't agree with the war, but we'll support our troops. Those are sons, daughters, mothers and fathers over there) There are things we do wrong, and things we do right.. Please don't act like you or your government has never made mistakes.

If hating on the American People is the flavor of the month, so be it. It'll be someone else in ten years. It's okay to have some pride, it's okay to be confident. It is encouraged that you speak your mind. It is encouraged that you succeed. It is encouraged to be passionate in all you believe in and show that same passion in the love you share with others. That is the American Way. Is that so bad? Everyone needs to do a little bit of reflecting. This world is a mirror, and all that you do is reflected back onto you. There are good people everywhere, and there are ignorant people everywhere. You can't escape it. Stop it with the Holier than Thou attitudes.. You're only making yourselves look silly. Think about what you are saying, and think about what you are doing.

To steal a line or two from a man I'll simply refer to as Dave..
"For a moment if you please, forget what you believe, and naked you will see.. That we are all the same."
and "Above all things if kindness is your king, then heaven will be yours before you meet your end."

The OP frames your opinion if you decide to answer to it . And thus you are liable to a charge of steroetying et al if you take the bait .Who really hates anybody for their place of birth . Nobody . The only people that accuse others of doing so are the Israelis and the Americans . Both have an agenda that would cause nations to despise their actions . Both then see fit to use racist counter argument . If people were so pre disposed to hating nations and people for their place of birth , you'd see anti Fuji, anti austrian , anti hebrodean . Americans , it does not mean that they are all innocent either just because a national blanket blame is not in order . There is a good 30% population of Americans that are to blame . Dumbass rednecks, Imperialists , the Go USA crowd . And I surely do despise them . But , on the other hand , there are plenty of Americans who are nothing like these neanderthals, and suffer greatly in world wide reputation for being associated with them . I do not hate these Americans at all , your post polarizes and categorizes . It is not as simple as you portray .
