I have lamented the state of our modern society for quite some time. And, here is why:

The gender roles have mostly been switched in western Europe and most of the states.
It is interesting because this is typically only done in a white context.

With other races like the asians and blacks this whole 'womans lib' and feminism is seen as insane and backward.
The reason? 'It's natural for men to be like that so you shouldn't destroy what is natural'
Asian people have said this to me (male and female) as well as black people (male and female).
Don't get me wrong there is a certain element of gender-scrambling attempts in Asia, but typically this is ignored or doesn't have an impact on them.

I know being a stay-at-home mom has got to be tough. I know the crap me and my brother put my mom through with our messes, hyperactivty, and general crazyness.

Well I've never seen "Dallas" so I'm not sure what goes on there but if it is like what I described, then I'll be on it!

As for the cheif, nanny, and gardener, they will be needed to tend to their work around the house, not for me. I would be faithful to my devilishly handsome lumberjack. Besides, if I did cheat on him he would give me a head-butt straight to the ovaries.

I intend to watch hour after hour of american idol, americas top model, britains got talent and big brother, maybe i will also throw in some Dancing on Ice. By the time i'm done with that my senses will be so numb you will have no chance.

As for the rest of this thread i see a mixture of standpoints. There are the people for equality, the standard male chauvanists and then there are the man hating women who hide behind feminism. Feminism is dead, ruined by women who have a massive chip on their shoulder and think men must be punished. These are the women who demand rights for women but ignore when men get utterly shafted.

Why in this day and age would anyone select a group to back in the equality stakes? Surely the sensible approach is to support equality for all humans and forget gender, race and creed.

What is all the feminism doesn't stand up for men baloney?

Feminism was about equal rights, if it ignores when mens rights are trampled it is no longer about equal rights and it turns into a movement which is about domineering the opposite sex. Men are not allowed to argue for their rights because if they do then they are labelled as chauvinists and so they are instantly silenced.

I would say equal rights to children and in divorce would be the key issues. If a man takes his children and leaves his wife then that man will quickly find himself at the centre of a kidnapping claim. If the women does the same then the man can do nothing except approach the courts who will be rather against him.

However don't think i'm saying women shouldn't also have their rights fought for, this is about equality and sadly the feminist movement has been hijacked by some rather nasty and spiteful individuals.

Hey i've always been down to be a "stay at home" dad. I love to cook and dont mind cleaning. I could do everything i wanted to do in between. If i found a women that wanted to provide while i man the fort the sign my butt up lol.

but, then, I'll completely lose the people it seems when I point out to them that well....
stay at home moms have very little earning potential, their husbands have alot more, and the court will take that into consideration when they make the judgement as to who should get the kids...
since those kids will decrease the earning potential of the one who gets them......
the mother usuallly ends up getting custody...
is it right, nope, but neither is men getting paid a few bucks more than their female counterparts who are doing the same job.

Women at my work, and every job I've been at since I can remember, always ask me to do their heavy lifting for them. Hence, they are not doing the same job. I go home tired sometimes, just from the physical demand of having to do the lifting for two people, on average. They talk to ke in a baby voice trying to seduce me into doing it, but I know what they are doing, and I help anyway......not because their seduction worked but because I'm a nice guy. Lately, though I have been telling them, welcome to equality, and make them figure out a way to do it themselves, or get some other sucker. BTW, he last ten years I have been getting paid less than women, and have verified it with check stubs visually at two of my last jobs. This is definitely not a mans world.......we were lied to.

umm...let see, think my experience is a little different than yours....
worked at one shop where well....I hurt my foot at it doing work that no one else wanted to do...even with the hurt foot, I volunteered to work on the biggest press, lifting the heaviest stock when the person that was working there was rounded up by immigration... they found someone to replace me...they had to train him to do the job I was doing...and well, not only could I do that job, but I could also do everything in finishing, could laminate, grommet, and knew at least enough on every machine in the place to at least assist on it....
they hired him for a couple of bucks more than me....

then well, one day, the magnets came through the place, and all the printers were griping about why they shouldn't be printing them.....magnets are heavy stock, we we ran them, you were transporting a few tons of the crap in a days time....I had a doctors note at that time limiting me to lifting only about 30 lbs....
I got sick of listening to the griping just told the boss I would do them...and did them....

my present job isn't that much better, but well, now with screwed up feet, hernia, and a back that's been causing me trouble, I just ain't lifting anything over that 30 lbs, and well, I'm gonna be changing careers by the end of this year...
even if the career I end up changing to is housewife......
it's the man's world, they keep griping at how we women should be home, and well, let hubby work two jobs if he has to.....it seems like that's what the men want anyways!

The irony of your post is that Feminism would not have even gained attention if it were not for Powerful MEN who saw an opportunity to double the number of Taxpayers, among other hidden benefits.

Men don't need powerful women to make movements to effect political changes. Men don't need to form lobbies so that at least X number of men will feature in the areas women tend to excel in. Men don't need to create a false sense of victimhood and label past generations of women as oppressors to explain their shortcomings in the areas women tend to excel in.

Maybe you should have read what i said earlier where i explained this, but nice ad hom trying to paint me as a chauvinist. I never said women shouldn't have equal rights or that them having equal rights tramples on male rights. What i have stated is that the feminist movement is now going a step past that, check some of the modern movements biggest names like Germaine Greer who happily states that men are useless and uneccessary. Check again the court system which favours women in divorce and legal custody of children.

This is not to say that there are areas where women are not discriminated against, what i am doing is arguing both sides, for true equality and that is what feminism was actually about in the very beginning.

As for Family Courts; when it comes to access or visitation, in most western nations, both parents get shared custody unless there are other circumstances involved however in saying that may I inform you that no two cases are alike and each have it's merits.

Now how does the Family Court system not work for you and why? These are the questions you have to ask yourself and perhaps the very lawyer over seeing your case to explain it to you and if you don't like it there is such a thing as an Appeals Court.

Sweet. I used to hold men in this high regard also,. Until I found out what goes on behind the doors that were opened and closed for us. The good old days when men had jobs that could support two people even a family.

When the cost of living got so high a mans wages were not enough the women HAD to go out and get a job to maintain the lifestyle they both were accustomed to.
These were the days when companies, fresh and rich off the wages of Americans began laying off dads, yanked pensions and health coverage and began sending work overseas and downsizing.

Don't blame women.
Blame the unwise politics of allowing businesses and corporations to grow too big and counteract their usefulness to our society.
Blame the political party that allows business and corporations to exploit and discard individuals like so much garbage..

Now all they do is lay on the couch and whine about how unfair life has been to them.

Here is your enemy:
These companies that own us, that we support, yet at the same time they do not pay us enough to keep up with the cost of living.
And now they can vote.

This reply suggests you think i have children and am therefore bitter about not seeing my kids. well i don't have kids, so i'm afraid you're barking up the wrong tree. It is a simple fact that women nearly always get the majority of custody and men are usually turned into weekend fathers.

I support equal rights for men and women, you seem to prefer a particular side.
