I am impressed with this list. I respect many of the names on it....and there are some I absolutely don't like...but at least it shows their commitment.

ATS is known for it's secrecy...but for this....it shouldn't be secret.

The time invested by the people on this list is unfathomable.

I've always put my heart and soul in my posts...and although my opinions have changed...i've always stated what I REALLY FELT.

I can't spend the time I used to on ATS...my daughter deserves most of my time....but I'll never fully be able to tear myself away from this community.

Congrats to the Top 50 Contributors!

So I've been considering the unintended consequences of this here list over the last couple of days ...

First let me say I appreciate the virtual pat on the bottom, but ...

In the words of the inimitable Citizen Cope it does feel a little like being between a bullet and a target ... as in I foresee many a post preluded by the inevitable "pfff, I expected more sense from a top 50 member."

How do I know this will happen? Because I'm going to do it to Proto at every opportunity!

I'm just kidding, thanks again, congrats to all that made it and those that undoubtably will ... in fact the kudos goes to every member who has contributed to ATS for without our mutual interactions, no lists are possible.



On a side note, it looks like inactivity over a period of time precludes members from being included in the '50' ... the unfortunate side effect of this is that our friend jkrog08, who is surely worthy of inclusion, has been left out. Perhaps an exception can be made in his case and a way can be found to add him manually, if only to allow new members to more easily discover his contributions. Just a thought ...

Wait my posts are supposed to make sense? Now you tell me.

The great news is that like in Fashion you are only as good as your last line, and in Hollywood you are only as good as your last movie, there really is no advantage in being a star or ahead of the curve.

I think we have seen some very recent members like Airspoon come on like gangbusters and make a impressive body of work in relatively short order.

I still am in awe of how much applause you have recieved in your brief couple of years on ATS.

So I think it's going to be great for the site and enhance it's competitive nature.

I honestly don't know how I ended up with more stars than anyone else on the top fifty list because half of my posts are more or less to provoke people to think on a deeper level in antagonistic ways.

As one poster put so aptly on a comment on my profile:

This is first time I have ever read someones posting and had an instant love/hate reaction.You are very good at putting comments straight forward,I offend people when I try this.After reading your posts twice I find myself areeing deeply with most....very good.

The truth is I am not trying to impress people with my posts, I am just trying to be honest in regards to my own opinions and perspectives and understanding on things, without worrying about who it might impress or who it might offend.

As a wise Zen Master has taught many of us so well (S.D.) they aren't my stars, they aren't my flags, they belong to the people who awarded them to me, the shared community at large. The collective.

The only thing I owe the world is my honest oppinion, it's the only thing I have to give to the world too, besides my love and well wishes.

You can't loose something you never really had my friend, the rankings, the stars, the flags, they are all just abstract ideas, notions of something, that have no meaning in the here and now, what has meaning in the here and now, is an ability to share your honest opinions, and perpectives, and love.

That's something that can help us all moving forward, after all there really is no way to go back!

ATS is evolving along with the world, we just have to roll with it buddy!

You know how much you spend in a place when you see how many post you have during the years as a member, I can not even imagine how in the world I posted so much.

I have to say that lately I don't' spend as much time as I used too, but still I stop by too often

In my case I don't work my children are adults and all I do is exercises and take care of my husband and three dogs.

I seen the picture of you adorable baby if I had a grandchild I will be gone from ATS for a while too.

Yeah, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you think about it, there are some CRITICAL people around here being left off that list. People that made a real difference.

I think it's time we put into perspective exactly what this list really is. If anyone's head is swelling, they sell ice packs and Goody's down at the local store.

Why would I not be surprised if another list is on the way, after all the contributors have now been placated?

And btw, SD, why are you pulling a BH on us and taken everyone off your friends list? I noticed that a bit ago, kinda surprised me.

Well done to you all.

Now that you have all got the recognition you so rightly deserve perhaps you will now put your considerable energies into actually getting a life.

I mean some of you have posted so much that i had to use a calculator to define your daily post input.

So does this mean that you are the gurus of all human knowledge?..no it does not, does it mean that you are now targets for argumentative combat? on my part absolutely yes!!

My thanks go to Bill S.O. for providing a handy top 50 hit list!!

But i feel i must remind you all before the accolades go to your heads and egos, that the next new member you come across, who has no stars, no flags, no title, could be Stephen Hawking or Ed Witten, so tread carefully my friends.

Now that your names have been published for all to see, it is now up to you to be magnanimous and gracious, to show humility to your fellow members, who although less prolific than your good selves, contribute just the same.

As my final word on this topic i would like you to understand why i now consider you as targets.
I am an egalitarian, and as such i treat all people with equal value, this list smacks of elitism to which i am bitterly opposed.
Actually i am constantly surprised that a site such as ATS which claims to share my egalitarian viewpoint, indulges in contradictory activities such as flags,points,stars and titles, things which are clearly hierarchical in nature and against the egalitarian grain.

So, you have been warned, there shall be no mercy in the attempts to bring you back down to our level.

Is somebody angry s/he didn't make the list? Lol, J/K. Relax dude, I don't think anyone is pretending this to be the Nobel Prize. It's just a list of top contributors who have been recognized by their peers through flags and stars. I would hope that you reply to someone based upon the message, as opposed to the messenger.

Nothing will change there either, I get character assasination attacks almost everytime I create a new thread. So far I have dodged the bullet, the ban hammer and yet I suspect one day an irrate and disagreeing member will send me over the proverbial edge.

I always think in this manner, always. Could not agree more. And I also think that there are potential Hawkings and Wittens without the educational background nor the status quo, here among us as well. All kidding aside those of us who work tirelessly to expose the conspiracies and plans of the ruling elite, do as much to promote them by exposing people to them, many of whom presume that it's a for gone conclusion that there will be no stopping the elite in carrying them out.

Very much like many of the Islamaphobes end up exposing positive aspects about Islam as a religion and negative aspects in their own while slandering one and promoting an other, tempting open and curious minds to learn more about Islam than just the transparent carefully crafted slanders.

In Gainesville this week Jews, and Christians in many Congregations will have their Rabbis and Preachers reading passages from the Quran, which will number thousands of people being exposed to positive aspects of it, while only 50 are going to be actually buring the Qurans.

Yet what we all do either honestly, dishonestly, disengenously, genuinely, wisely or foolishly here on ATS is share what we know, or just as often as what we would only like others to know, promoting a free flow of information, that at times can be quite illuminating even though some likely do lament so much information is being exchanged.

Who I am sure is not alarmed or concerned by this, are the Powers that Be, who love and take advantage of the chaos that so much conflicting information, and so many differing oppinions create, to effectively divide the masses on largely meaningless superficial and emotional issues, while the Powers that Be drive the world in that vaccuum.

We are all illuminists shedding light on different paths, some that lead to ruin and tragedy, some that lead to promise and hope, all equally lost trying to find our way in a world where few see and want to accept how interelated and co-dependent we are upon one another to succeed and enjoy a quality of life.

For the time being we remain divided and conquered, ruled by voices of fear, anger and dispair on one side, and tyrants and despots on the other.

Many see ATS as a source of entertainment, some sport, some news, some as a platform and a soap box, and some for the real potential it has.

A place and a way for people to really begin to understand our inherent differences to learn through them, to compromise and forge a better path through the many shades of gray that color our choices.

That's the real secret of above top secret.

As Kosmic Jack enthused the top 50 members are all quite different in their different perspectives, hopes, fears, conclusions, yet we have all managed to come together in one place, where we seldom if ever agree, but at least haven't taken to killing one another yet!

That's some hope to Illuminate!

Hmmm...

That sounds an awful like outspoken environmentalists whom don't actually practice environmentalism. Or war supporters who won't actually go to war, and then complain about too many taxes.
