Well it must be something else that is making my pages load slower and "jump about". Its still loading up now as I type! I know its not just my machine I have tried logging on using another pc.

Originally posted by SkepticOverlordAdditionally, based on the traffic metrics, the redesign is a success as daily and weekly traffic are "through the roof." ...

Do you really think its the redesign that has done this? Im not being funny but ATS kinda looks the same as it has done for a few years. I will admit to the idea that the redesign hasn't stopped the number growth!

Im wondering now why Im having issues (page is still loading! lol) and I cant stand the way the page jumps as I scroll down and I miss the "go light". Never-mind, I wasn't much of a poster, more of a reader so ATS wont miss me.

There seems to be a small handful of people with similar issues, at least one staffer included, which are defying typical methods of troubleshooting. Any additional information you could provide (privately if needed) as to your computer/browser set-up might be helpful.

As to the metrics, numbers don't lie. There was a significant jump in the number of content pages (threads) seen by guests within days of the completed redesign, as well as a marked drop in "abandonment" (seeing one page, then leaving) among first-time visitors.

Also, while overall page-views are up about 30%, total bandwidth from our servers (web page HTML) is down by about 20% -- another indicator that the overall design is more efficient.

In Firefox I have had issues before with pages (not ATS) jumping about and also sometimes that page will only load when the mouse is moving and stops when it isn't

Last time I had the issue I turned off all my add ons and then turned them back on one by one until I found the one causing the problem, I seem to remember it was firebug, the issue fixed itself when firebug updated

I am finding that ATS is loading slow as well. For example, when I try to star a post it takes upwards of 20 to 30 seconds for anything to happen before the page finally reloads with the star on it. I've actually gotten into the habit of repeatedly hitting a star several times until it "responds". Similarly, if I try and post a response it can take several seconds sometimes before the dialogue box appears.

Optimally there should be no wait time whatsoever for any of these keyboard strokes. Sump'ns up.

I wanted to add something to my post above and I counted to 22 before the page came up telling me I had passed the 4 hr mark or whatever.

Once I'm done and click the "post" button it can take as long as the star thing for the post to show. Before it went so fast I was unable to read the green lettered list that told you what steps were occuring behind the scenes. Now I could read the list backwards and upside down and nothing would have happened yet.
Is this a traffic issue?

Am I a ghost?
According to the information on my mini-profile, I went offline about fifteen minutes ago.
It has been saying this (adjusting the time appropriately) for at least the last ten minutes.

Edit; I was "on ATS now" immediately after posting this, but now I'm back at having left six minutes ago.

holy batman disraeli, you are right. I also left 6 minutes ago according to my mini profile.

Actually that is apx. how long I have been back on, this session. Go figure.

It would be accurate if it read "member returned 15 minutes ago" or something along those lines. (It is now 15 minutes since I've been back). But I'm about to leave -- wonder what it will say once I'm gone.

how much longer will the forums list in MyATS be disabled? I really, really don't navigate this site except through MyATS....so I am kind of stuck. You're messing up my interwebz rhythm.

Oh WOW!! I just loaded up google chrome and the difference is amazing! Pages load up so much faster and no more jumping. I would like to try and fix firefox though but heck if it means I can still frequent ATS then I shall chrome it.

Its still a shame "go light" is gone but I dont want to end this post on a misery note. Have a happy Christmas SO, thanks for your time too *air kisses*

This might have been covered already but the thread is too big to go back through. I'd just like MyATS to go back to the right hand side, rather than being at the bottom.

As for the jumping when scrolling make sure firefox is not set to magnification over 100%...that may be what's causing the page to jump.

Mine is where it should be. You might try deleting your other favorite forums, then re-subscribing or re-favoriting them. They should then appear in the order in which you subscribed, with My ATS being first and on the right.

of course the stats are great to look at a person's posts with more perspective on how 'involved' they are at ats disucssion. But also it is just for fun in the end, and ppl shouldn't take it so seriously, not everything needs to be a competition! but good old fun is never to be rejected.

Geez wouldn't it be nice to get some kind of warning when the site is about to go down for "servicing"!!

Right in the middle of a post and lost everything.
If ever there was a good reason for a sliding banner or pup-up this would be it.

or, was this not some planned shutdown and did something just happen to make a major part of the site inopperable. There were moments, because there was no explanation given, that I thought the government might actually have decided to close ATS for all of our good and safety.

I've got the "recent posts" page on its own tab. It updates itself what, every 10 seconds or so?
click
click
click
Although I'm off reading threads I jump everytime I hear the click and some silly part of me wants to go and see who just said something, where? Oooooh. My nerves are all on edge cuz I can't relax and enjoy my thread knowing other people are talking elsewhere..

... and I haven't even had my morning coffee yet.

The side-tabs that provided quick-links to common items not in the main menu has been replaced by a "bottom of page" ribbon that can be hidden or displayed on demand.

The new "ribbon" also provides a link and information for ATS Live broadcasts.
