The Scottish Sun news

Published: 28 Jul 2009 but I haven't seen it on here.

Residents watched in awe as three bright orange dome-shaped objects hovered then flew at high speed in random spirals closer and closer to the village.

"The whole street was out with cameras and binoculars.

"Folk were coming out the pub and telephoning home about what they were seeing in the sky.

"It's been the talk of the place ever since it happened.

To First Response Debunkers:

This IS NOT Chinese lanterns... they flew in different directions and remained over the city for 2 hours.

"The objects were sort of dome shaped and bright, bright orange. "

"They were hovering for up to five minutes at a time then they would move really, really fast across the sky.

Sound exactly like Chinese Lanterns.

They must be aliens in spacecraft putting on a show for all the non
beleivers, just hovering around in the night sky with nothing better
to do, if i was a superior lifeform with inter stellar flight capabilities
thats what i would do!

See above note - to you...

Chinese lanterns generally flow with the wind, right?

... let's try fighting some ignorance together and at least read the story before deciding it's Chinese lanterns.

ok then - let's all stop looking at the sky and recording alleged UFOs because lestweforget thinks they wouldn't behave that way.

WTF??

I post a video from the news where a whole town of people watch a UFO for two hours and this is how people respond?

I read the entire story before I even read your posts so I could form my own opinion
and I posted some very relevant quotes.

Wind can change directions and speads at different elevations.

No need to get all upset. This is a discussion. How come you have not added your opinions? Why dont you tell us exactly what you believe we are to be seeing. Please give us your full analysis.

Based on the video and the description, it is classic behavior of Chinese Lanterns, IMO. If people are not used to seeing Chinese Lanterns then they will not know the behavior of them, if they are flying nearby. This sounds like the case here.

And nobody in this forum has ever said to stop looking up and recording. It is highly encouraged by ALL here. However, it is also highly encouraged to use a bit of skepticism and go thru a process of elimination in order to find the truth.

So, everyone, keep looking up!

Your problem like so many here on ATS is that you are so
convinced that aliens fly around our atmosphere you are blinded
by it. All mechanical flight is man made. Dont you find it a little
coincidental the first sightings of unidentified craft in the US were
2 years after paperclip?

chinese lantern. thread officially debunked, further arguments on the authenticity of this subject not need. i have spoken, to go against my words is to go against the words of the lord.

Unfair but I can see where from and why you would formulate such a viewpoint.

I suggest a great deal of research on your part would show you just how stupidly wrong this statement of fact from yourself is. Google is your friend here as is your local and regional library.

you sure know a lot about me - especially since I didn't even pose my opinion! You realize you just called me, and "so many here on ATS" blinded when none of us even said anything!! wow... your preconceived prejudice is sad, must really limit some conversations for you.

UFOs have been part of history for over 3,000 years.

Edited: they could well be Chinese lanterns... my first thought was that they were not is because the one traveled quite a ways while one stood still, and the guy watching said something like "look at it!! It just went straight up!!"

"Chinese lantern" is the new "swamp gas" or "light from Venus" and since these are too far away to really know, might as well discount the whole thing as lanterns.

That poster who said about the Chinese lanterns could be a very well slotted in plant. Once the 'lantern' is out, alot of people back off rapidly.

Not posing an opinion whilst telling others what something is not says a lot more about a person than you may think.

Saying 'spend some of your finite time here in existence looking at this claim from over a year ago which actually states that it is Chinese lanterns from a wedding in the comments section but before you say anything I'm refuting that these are Chinese lanterns without any evidence to support my claim and so don't bother stating it yourself as I won't listen' seems to bm that you have an opinion formed already and don't want for opinions that go against you 'supposedly unstated' opinion to see the light of day.

So you did state an opinion, you just didn't do it very articulately.

Silence speaks volumes - see every thread I've killed.

He has never seen one what would he know. And by seen one i mean the people in this video have not seen one like i have .

Not just some lite but the skin of the craft and all and it moved slow (well slow but covered miles and miles in no time) the size well it was big i mean land some 747s on it big. Anyway this video has the same kinda of slow moving (a little slower) but not the detail i have seen (years ago).

I wonder if there is better video or what the people may have seen (if more then lights) this could be a new UK craft or a "ETUFO" the 1 i seen was not man made and if it was everything we know is a lie.

I'm going to guess you've never educated anyone.

You are allowed to call it brilliant, you are even allowed to mention huge egos but if you mention wrong then you have to mention why it's wrong.

Otherwise it's just someone on a soapbox lauding their opinions to an audience.

So tell me how you manage to tell 'debunkers' what it 'is not' whilst simultaneously asking people for their 'opinions' but having 'not stated your own'?

Seems to me you believe in ET and are prepared to look like foolish in the eyes of those who use their eyes to do so.

I could be wrong though and hope I am.
