Interesting thread. I lurked here for a number of years and finally decided to create an account only to lurk for another year or so until posting. There's a chance I created an account one drunken night in my early lurking days that was probably never used. If I get extra bored maybe I'll see if it exists and revive my other self to add to the conspiracy.

Well good luck with the new thread. You know what you're doing so don't complain about a 'conspiracy' if it gets closed or worse.

In terms of noticing faked old memberships, I'm not really buying it. There's no advantage in having an older sign-up date as I can see it. Antar's failure to have mentally tagged and dated the 100, 000 or so members (past and present) is not very surprising. There are dozens of forums where members live in little eco-systems.

As an outcome of this thread a few guys will start seeing 'fake' members. Same process as people convincing their minds that NZ has 'moved.' That was the silliest thread in a long time.

ETA: I sound like your mum in that first line!

I agree with you. It's just that it was not so noticeable in my eyes until recently. Not that I am "looking for it" now, but the number of suspicious posts that have caught my eye is astonishing as of late.

Well I guess I do feel ancient most days. I've been a lurker for the most part with the occasional post here and there. Have to agree, there have been lots of changes here.

well to be honest, I have been here longer
than this past February. I was here using
a different username, however during a
divorce and moving out and being offline
for a while. I had no idea what my old username
was when I decided to come back, lol.

So I started another account and started
over again. And if I ever remember what that
old username was .... well then I'd have to
grapple with maybe not remembering my
old password too.

I did try to look over the members list
and try to find my old account but I got
totally bored after about 30 mins of
searching for it, so I gave up finding it.

So now, I'm boondock-saint
hahahaha

but I've been here since 06 or 07
I believe.

People do leave for various reasons
and come back. As in my case,
I was using a family pc before I
left in the divorce so I left it with
the family. And with it, my stored
username and password. Then later
when I got a new pc, I had to start over.

But there are tons of reasons why some
people vanish for a while and then return.

I have read all pages to this post and all the replies have been varied. Many like myself have many concerns, but have found that telling anyone that truly cares at ATS is a joke.

When the BP Oil Disaster occurred, ATS created a special BP section. Since its inception, this BP section has made many rules that ensure all BP related threads or submissions are under this BP section. At first I thought this was pretty good planning for the onslaught of so many BP areas of concern.

Well, now I think that the BP section was created so that any meaningful issues that BP does not want discussed would be relegated to the darkest corner of ATS where no one would find the thread let alone read it and in such a way, it would keep others from reading or considering the premise or concern of the posters thread subject matter title.

It is my hard felt opinion that ATS is set up to screen all BP related matters. The BP oil disaster is what BP wants to control. As such it makes sense to me to have BP contract or pay all those web sites of good size to monitor and to report and to quell certain BP related matters. Good paying customers with deep pockets is something that impresses many who would eagerly serve Satan.

My last thread was posted in a effort to solicit some true investigative agency to get involved in investigating a BP related matter. What happened what that my thread sits is some dark hole where no one knows its there and after 48 hours I fully understood why my last thread has been relegated to some black hole on ATS where my BP related matter would never be considered by anyone. That is what incensed me. ATS was being tested when I submitted my last thread and they proved to me exactly what they are doing.

In fact when I tried using the search feature it would not even show up. Well, look it up. the subject matter title is "ATS Member Alarmed by Findings, Seeks Help". This is the very thread that has gone the way of suppression and when it did, it proved to me exactly what I was suspecting, not the other way around.

While disinformation agents are here on ATS in abundance, ATS within its core management in my opinion has been corrupted by BP and it is now showing it just like those constant leaking BP oil pipes.

Take care and don't ever forget what is going on right under your eyes and noses. Thanks for the posting, but it's subject matter title was too much on my mind to just pass up and remain silent about.

Hiya Max. This is your thread...ATS Member Alarmed by Strange findings-Seeks help.

I've written two or three threads that didn't get a star or reply...it happens. I've just flagged yours now.

What you could do is put a link to your thread in your signature. It's very easy and will give people another opportunity to respond to it. Try it and see...sometimes a 'conspiracy of silence' is just a thread that didn't interest people.

Have you considered that current members, as well as older ones, have more than one account?

Bingo.

That has be brought to my attention recently and a very prominent member at that, with numerous accounts, what I would like to know is how this is possible, because I thought this forum was safer in that area.

*liw enters thread and looks around suspiciously*

Some of the people who are the subject of this thread are here! eeks.
Others have strategically stayed away.

The Others will break down and eventually surface. Then we can begin the questioning phase of our investigation.

well dancer, just as soon as those posters get their
new RFID Chip. That will stop happening.

As far as me goes, I have never used multiple
accounts at the same time. I explained my
story of creating a new account after moving
but I do not have access to that old account
anymore and can't even remember the name
on that account. But I am quite sure that some
do do that. It just isn't me

Yeah, this happens. I guess if they have a dynamic IP and a stock browser, it's hard to be caught out. I only know of a couple, but am fairly suspicious of others. I was even arguing with someone's sock-puppet a couple of weeks ago.

They create these account like being wrong twice will make a difference.

I agree with your observation, I have noticed it too, last time was the "Why all the Anger" thread that SO started recently, I sat scratching my head because there where maybe 5 or 6 members I had never seen before, yet they have statistics on their profiles that suggest they are prolific posters.

I had even noticed it before but like you had thought little of it.

It could be just a coincidence, however I don't go for coincidences much any more, not at the rate they seem to be happening.

Changes nothing though, can only stick with it as long as it grabs attention and interest, as soon as it begins to become nothing but manipulation, then it will lose its sparkle, its already down to a dull sheen for me.

You have to wonder whats going on when members like Mike singh disapear, I loved their threads, as I did the threads of several members who seem to have vanished, those where the members who needed others to back them up when the abuse began to flow, sadly they where allowed to be abused without much effort from others who like me thought their effort and work brought a lot to ATS.

Those spaces seem to have now been filled with failed comedians who have no interest in this weird World we live in, and those who idiotically star and flag them for no effort.

Check out this guy...Banes. He signed up and made his first post to argue in favour of Lloyd Pye's Starchild skull. Brand new member, profile background and shiny-ass avatar! I called him out and he denied it. Check out his dates.

Joined up, posted for Lloyd Pye three times and left...

That's a current member using sock-puppetry and possibly connected to Pye. We can rule out Pye because whatever keyboard Pye uses has a broken CAPS LOCK SO EVERYTHING LOOKS LIKE THIS!!!
