Names on ATS I've Never Seen, yet they are hardwired in...

Ok this could have been in the disinformation forum or a number of others, but I placed it here as it is something which has been bothering me about this site for at least a year now.

I have been on here for several years and at times been so involved and lovin it, I scan all the forums looking for interesting news and oppinions, and all the while enjoy the various avatars, people and personalities who post.

It may seem like I hang in ceratin forums but really I like all the topics found here.

So, having spent a huge ammount of time here you get aquainted with the members pretty well. Some you seek out to read their great posts, others you try to dodge to not read their posts, but all in all we do cross paths often enough to become very familiar after a few years time.

Here's where it gets strange and questionable to me, I have taken note that in the past year and a half or about the time Skeptic went to washington, a HUGE group of members began showing up that had older membership dates, but that I had never seen before.

Now at first I figured it was just that often members will go away for a period of time and then later come back and become regular contributors once again.

This began to happen more and more and the boards were becoming frequented by older members but not known ones in large numbers.

Now for many months I just shined it on and wondered if it was a way of manipulating the stats here on membership or hits.

Even wondered if it could be various people in the up stairs posting without having to deal with their notariety status. Kind of like the rich man who goes to rent a wreck on his first date to unimpress his date, to see how she really feels about him...

Anyway, even if that was true I figured it was not my business and I again just ignored it. But it is just flooring how many members from the the past 4 years post regularly that I had never seen before.

Is there a conspiracy afoot? If so why?

There are SOLID contributors who just vanish, and there are new members all the time, but stay alert long enough and you will see what I mean.

like you said, people disappear for many reasons from these boards and come back for many reasons as well...enjoy the diversity, my friend....

its a balance, and sometimes they great ones gets banned, just for minor stuff.

Well I'm still looking for a CIA Patron to fund me. Until that happens I shall be my normal self and continue to post my posts.

Of course I'm new too... so maybe I'm not trustworthy...

Personally I try not to post anything unless it is necessary. Ive been a lurker for years, and up until recently Ive kept quiet.

Perhaps our stress is building and people are only now feeling like contributing?

Sometimes we lurk for a while before posting.

OK now the only one I recognize on this thread is Vicodin, well who can forget "That" name? LOL, I cracked up at the first poster, and then noticed that they were part of the ancient ones here...

I do appreciate the responses and yes it could be due to lurkers and I have considered that, but even if so the sheer numbers alone dont hold that into the total answer to this mystery.

I know what you mean.
It is kind of strange, and it too has caused me to wonder.
Not much surprises me any more.

Those "ceratin" (thanks for quoting my boo boo) forums if you had been around for the past 4 years are aliens ufo stuff, breaking alternative type news and all the doom and gloom type stuff here including anything disease and pandemic related. that kind of forums where I am known to post most. (That rhymed)

Paid poster - tell me your kidding, right?

I think there is a group of people who make a disinfromation post on the first page of a thread near the top, and then the other people in the group all star the post so it has more stars than the others, that way people subconciously believe what is in that post more than the others.

I see it a lot here.

I have had similar thoughts over the years...
