You're correct SG. Christianity (along with every other major religion) has been a motivating force behind some of the worst atrocities in history. It's also true that these people have the religious freedom/right to build a mosque wherever they want.

But my question is...why? Why build a mosque right next to GZ? Why must it open on the 10th anniversary of the WTC attacks? What is the problem with building mosque #23 on Coney Island and opening it on the 1st of Dec. next year? What difference does it make to people of Islamic faith where the mosque is built?

Unfortunately for you Southern Guardian, all people are born with the right to support any idea, or any belief they like. This includes xenophobia, racism and any other political belief-theory under the sun.
The only exception I know is whenever people incite terrorism-treason against our nation. Even then God-the creators, still (self evidently) gave people the right to be able to support these things (even if the law is rightfully trying to prohibit it).

It’s not hypocritical to favour Christianity over Islam, and never will be. For starters the ever greater, expansion of Christianity, into American culture, has the majority support of the American people. But the ever greater expansion of Islam does not.
Whilst Christians have done many wrongs, they have rarely been aimed at Americans. Meanwhile whilst Islam has done many wrongs (they are not often) aimed against Muslims (well certainly their men).

The opposition of Islam, without opposition of Christianity is merely something you oppose, and "defame" using a poor choice of words.

I'm not sure of their reasons, but one possibility could be to make a statement:

We are American Muslims and we honor the dead who were killed on that terrible day. In memory and commemoration, we will open our mosque on the 10th anniversary of Sept 11 to show that Muslims worldwide support the Americans and decry what the terrorists did on that day.

OR

Up yours, America! We'll take advantage of your freedoms and show you whose religion is best! Take that!

Why does it matter? Would a Christian church on the site be any different? WHY? Because Muslims are terrorists?

Well it seems the ol my Muslim Faith (erm, he must have mispoken) president ended up on the Wrong side of an issue again.

I am sure their will hundreds if not thousands of apologetic and well thought out reasons why the mosque should be built.

I think the Ryder company should build a HUGE distribution center across the road from the Murrah building.

Oh, and if I offended anyone's political correct sensibilities.

Political Correctness and the let's all be friends conspiracy.

Oh, and here is a muslim that actually has A BRAIN in her head, something sadly missing from our muslim in chief. Erm sorry, I must have mispoken, dang it is almost catchy. Dang politically incorrect of me.

quote from the video

"Bloomberg and other bleeding heart liberals like him........."

I guess she is slightly politically incorrect also.

So, because some Christians supported slavery 200 years ago, it's hypocritical to think that building a mosque at Ground Zero will do very little to promote tolerance and diversity?

Ok, nice logical argument you got there...

Carseller...do you like anything that isn't "non-white?"

I bet you only like "white out" and love using it over black pens. I bet you hate crayons as well....and magic markers because they are mostly black.

Nearly everything you are against is non-white.

Please explain.....prove that you aren't a racist bigot.

That's the one thing about ATS.....there are plenty of racists who post on this website....but that can't say what they really want to say because...

A. They don't want to ruin their rep.
B. The T & C forbids smearing the N word and other deragatory terms on this website. Sometimes the comments slip through...with a racial stereotype or joke.....but believe me..

I can see plenty of racism on this website....and I know others can as well.

Betcha $100 buck the same exact hypocrites see nothing at all wrong with US military bases all over the Middle East and Central Asia, billion dollar embassies in Baghdad, and the deaths and displacement of millions of Muslim people. Responsibility only flows one way, eh? What mindset rationalizes away this kind of thing? Seriously.

It's amazing to see all the hardcore, STERN CONSTITUTIONALISTS oppose this.

Hmm....I wonder why. Cripes. They'll use the Constitution ALL DAY when it comes to defending rich white people.....but holy hell......if it doesn't have money and it isn't white....then it's evil!!!

Many of the same people make comparisons to Obama with Hitler....when oddly enough....many of the people posting on this website are far closer to being a Hitler than him.

Sounds more like the KKK, Neo Nazi's each day Lucidity.

This country is going down the damn tubes.

Still going back to the Bush did it syndrome? Or the other guy syndrome or the false analogy syndrome.

Constitutionalist here, get those damn bases out of other countries.

Wonder why the ONLY one in government saying these things is Ron Paul?

Wonder why the MSM and those spewing the rhetoric propagated there, always end up at the same argument.

Bush did it Syndrome. BDIS

I have to come up with better acronym.

BITRS Do you have BITRS? Bush is the reason syndrome.

Or maybe BDIFS? Bush Did it first Syndrome.

Or maybe BTOGS? But the other guy Syndrome.

Or maybe CTSS? Change the subject syndrome.

Or maybe FAS? False Analogy syndrome.

Or maybe UMS? Undistributed Middle Syndrome.

I think a Japanese based company should start a seaplane business in Hawaii. I hear there are open commercial sites near the Missouri Memorial now.

No problem with that, that would be just racist against Japanese if someone was to complain.

Now where did I say Bush? Go build your strawman somewhere else, preferably out of sight and then set fire to it, k?

Whats a catholic church doing next to Ground Zero? What is that chapel doing there as well? Im not really concerned about the conspiracy supposedly behind their motivation. I am only concerned about their rights and considering there is a much deeper conspiracy hidden within the vatican, I think you should worry more about that catholic church just down the road if you insist to go down that road.

The Church and chapel were already there before the towers fell my friend.....so that straw man doesnt stand up.....

I think its their right to do it if they want to ........this is America

I dont have to agree with it tho, and do i think there are ulterior motives for it? Damn straight...........I guess well just have to wait and see!

But if you think for one minute that there arent mosques around the US that preach that worthless "kill everyone" diatribe then youre either willfully ignorant or havent been keepin up, cause there are........

Will this be one? who knows, I hope not, but the man responsible for it sure has some pretty interesting ties with some interesting people.

Conquerors in the muslim faith are known for building mosques on "holy" or "sacred" sites of countries they feel they have conquered........

This site would fall into that category..........one only has to look at the history of it to begin to question........

My hunch is , ya this is a finger in the face of whats seen as the "Western Establishment" by the Muslim people, the more extreme ones anway.......

I know plenty of muslim people here where I live, they dont think this way, but they dont agree with this mosque going up either, and they love western society and what it brings........

Anyway , Is it their right to put this up.........sure is.......

Do we have to like it? Nope.....

I do however find it funny that the same people who are yelling at everyone who doesnt agree with this, are the same people that want to take "God" out of everything else, and stop the pledge in schools.......

Very strange indeed

There are Christian churches that do the same thing, Westboro Baptist Church being one of them. So that is a straw man argument too.

Conquerors in the muslim faith are known for building mosques on "holy" or "sacred" sites of countries they feel they have conquered........

So have Christians, another straw man argument.

Basically the only thing that you have achieved in proving here is that religions can produce intolerance. So if any religion can produce intolerance, they all are equal.

“The Wahhabi Invasion of America”

Reza F. Safa, author of Inside Islam, estimates that since 1973, the Saudi government has spent an unbelievable $87 billion to promote Wahhabism in the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe.

According to official Saudi information, Saudi funds have been used to build and maintain

over 1,500 mosques,

202 colleges

210 Islamic Centers wholly or partly financed by Saudi Arabia

and almost 2,000 schools for educating Muslim children in non-Islamic countries in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia

www.jfednepa.org...

So it's Ok for the Saudis to fund the spread of Wahhibism (look it up, if you dare) in the West

but certain people with agendas are trying to convince Westerners they should not oppose the spread of Wahhibism ?

How convenient !

And to push their agenda of Wahhibism, the (PAID ?) Saudi-supporters are utilizing ATS and other forums as platforms for FREE !

Again, how convenient

Why isn't anyone freaking out about the mosque inside the Pentagon? Right inside (not near) the Pentagon where 184 people died. The mosque the Marines built in 2006.

a. Because Obama the Muslim wasn't in office
b. Because Bush the Bad would have kicked their asses
c. Because no one told them to freak out
d. None of the above
e. Make up your own answer

Don't you all think someone should really call the fright wing and let them know they need to stop the Islamification of the Pentagon?

Yep, and the mosque has just as much right to be there as well.

I think its their right to do it if they want to ........this is America

Wonderful. And you have every right to your opinion, and like wise I have every right to mine. I am glad you understand.

I dont have to agree with it tho,

Nope, you don't have to agree with it, but you have no right to lobby the government Federal/local/state to bar them from freely establishing a place of worship.

and do i think there are ulterior motives for it?

Because its muslims? And all muslims have some dark sinister plan behind them?

I know plenty of muslim people here where I live, they dont think this way,

Well then you just answered your question.

I do however find it funny that the same people who are yelling at everyone who doesnt agree with this,

thats because the vast majority of people who oppose this mosque going up insist it should not be allowed to go up. If somebodies constitutional rights are in danger of being taken away from a mob, would you stay silent? I certainly won't and I have not in this instance.

Why do conservatives continue to compare us to Saudi Arabia? Are we a religious monarchy or is this a republic we live in? Get a clue.

I never said there werent,I agree indeed that there are, but thats neither here nor there, Westbro hasnt gone out and killed anyone, the fact is it was muslims that flew those planes into the towers, and thats what has people upset....If wesbro baptist church went and burned down a mosque and erected a christian church close to the same spot, people would be FLIPPING out!

So have Christians, another straw man argument. Basically the only thing that you have achieved in proving here is that religions can produce intolerance. So if any religion can produce intolerance, they all are equal.

Explain to me how thats a straw man argument? It has plenty of relevance, they do it in honor of allah and to prove their "superiority" , arent all you libs against ANY religion that would IMPOSE its religion on you?

Because thats what youre going to eventual get, ASK EUROPE.....

You guys only stand up and fight for the "constitution" when it because a political game that can be played.....this is above politics.....

Like i said, I dont agree with it, but its their right to do so......YOU guys need to be objective in understanding WHY people would be offended......

Not to mention the history behind the man responsible for it.......I notice this was carefully evaded.......

Continue trying to cherry pick my postings.........
