And none of the people building the mosque did either. Furthermore? The guys who did do it are all dead. We can't really ask them anything, can we?

Do you know where they were from?

I said people see it as such, can you blame them?

Can you take their loss into consideration?

Excuse me, but why can't their wishes be met?

I get told NO all the time.

Why can't we consider their feelings?

Their feelings were considered. There was a vote. The people with the power and desire to decide the fate of this building voted and allowed it to go through. Why do so many other people feel the need to be offended for them? Because Hannity said to?

cordoba house...................

Cordoba was, of course, the seat of the caliphate established in what is now modern Spain after the Islamic invasion from North Africa in the 8th century A.D. The medieval occupation of Spain – “al-Andalus” – is considered by Islamic theorists to have been an inevitable step in the manifest destiny of Islam, and its eventual reversal through the lengthy European “Reconquista” a tragic but temporary triumph of the infidels. The great mosque at Cordoba was built on the foundation of a Christian cathedral, and when Europeans retook Cordoba in the 13th century they turned the magnificent mosque back into a cathederal.......

“Cordoba,” in Islamic symbolic terms, means Islamic rule in the West. It does not mean “coexistence,” unless coexistence is interpreted as referring to Islamic rule.

closing gitmo
pulling out of iraq
pulling out of afghanistan

There is no difference buddy.

The muslim terrorists who hijacked those planes never set off car bombs in Ireland. The same terrorists never lynched jews, homosexuals and black people for the simple fact that they existed.

Your logic is unbelievable, I'm going to go ahead and label you as a troll as well...sorry dude, we tried to reach out to you, but you are apparently stuck in your ways. BTW, is the '96 in your name representative of the year you were born? It would make sense, because at 13-15 years old I thought I had the world figured out as well.

I know this has been asked more than once but not really answered. How many of the people in this thread so vociferously opposing this mosque actually live anywhere near the site?

Any of you?

Of course I don't blame them. Of course I can empathize and "take it into consideration." That goes without saying.

But since you bring it up, tell me...are they going to allow the hate and hard feelings and sad feelings to fester forever? Perpetuate because of this? Restrict the rights of others because of this? Make even more people "feel" bad because of this?

Where does it end? What would satisfy these people with these feelings?

But you make point. Feeling "conquered" is a personal issue or feeling, not a realistic one.

Excuse me, but why can't their wishes be met?

I get told NO all the time.

You lost me. Who's wishes? And at what expense? Are we a nation who panders to the wishes of every loud group now? Against our values, principles, and laws? Didn't you mention Sharia law "taking over?" If not, I'm sure someone did. Well how are wishes different?

Why can't we consider their feelings?

Already covered.

Do you actually think that by us saying no to them, they haven't infiltrated and destroyed us? They're going to prove we're afraid, bigoted, and care nothing about our very own laws and values.

reply to post by intrepid

Yeah, another crock.

Long memories and never forgetting are one thing. Caving in on what you claim to stand for is quite another. At least that's how I see it.

And to clarify, I assumed Stormdancer was referring to those who felt conquered i.e. Native Americans. I may have misremembered. I don't know how we can fix that.

REVEALED IN ARABIC – GROUND ZERO MOSQUE FOUNDER RAUF WANTS TO ESTABLISH SHARIAH

by Walid Shoebat

extraordinary contradictions between what he says in English and what he says in Arabic

Only two months before, on March 24, 2010, Abdul Rauf is quoted in an article in Arabic for Rights4All entitled (from one of his responses) “I Do Not Believe in Religious Dialogue”.

When asked his view regarding an Islamic state, Abdul Rauf responded that “Throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians, it is clear an Islamic state can be established in more then just a single form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of Shariah that are required to govern
