Anyways should one downlaod the insurance file in case a key is released i nthe future or soemthing? Or do you thing it could harm your computer or have some other negative effect.

What do you think?

I think you need to learn how computers work and how files need to be executable to be able to run and actually do something.

No, there is no danger downloading and keeping the file. Its just a blob of useless data until you get to know the key. With the key, the binary blob probably decrypts to be a zip file or similar containing information. But you will never find out without the key.

the real truth is that the US government and all world secrecy got really hurt by wikileaks

the truth is that, lets say wikileaks is a cia operation trying to get whistle blowers: what they did is just to grow the truth movement and to inspire other people to create their own organizations to spread the truth

and lets say wikileaks is real good organization: if something happens to assange or any other guy in wikileaks or the organization itself, it will blow with much more people trying to do something similar, instead of slowing down the movement

so, either way, its a win win situation for the world ...

Thats what I mean, say we all download it now because we are curious and if the link is deleted from the website, everyone will be like 'THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO TAKE DOWN WIKILEAKS!' and there will be like 20 threads.

SO we all have a copy on our hardrive, then someone on the internet posts a key and we can all open it, would you do it? It could be anything like? A big double bluff?

But the curiosity killed the cat right?

I'm guessing he already thought about the gov killing the internet. Thats probably why he brought certain media on board for the last leak. I think this is big enough now that it doesn't matter if the 'kill switch' got pushed on the net.

actually it was one of the media guys that got in contact with wikileaks ... and since the amount of information was so large, they decided to allow 3 media groups to access the files before release

I can't say that I entirely trust Wikileaks. I say this because of the way Wikileaks has been handling the leaking of information. That said, they're doing us a public service in their own way.

Have I downloaded this insurance file? Yes, I have. So have the people I know. It's spreading like wildfire.

Its reading pieces like this that really make me smile.

As previously reported, Manning told ex-hacker Adrian Lamo that he had recently given 260,000 classified U.S. diplomatic cables to Wikileaks, and said the documents exposed “almost-criminal political back dealings.”

“Hillary Clinton and several thousand diplomats around the world are going to have a heart attack when they wake up one morning, and find an entire repository of classified foreign policy is available, in searchable format, to the public,” Manning told Lamo in an online chat session.

“If he really had access to these cables, we’ve got a terrible situation on our hands,” an anonymous American diplomat told the Daily Beast. “We’re still trying to figure out what he had access to. A lot of my colleagues overseas are sweating this out, given what those cables may contain.”

It's interesting Hillary is name-checked and not Obama. Is Obama the 'straw man' and Hillary is the puppet-master? Wonder what will be on her mind at the Wedding today?

Has Assange got the best wedding present ever for the Clintons?

We can't decipher the file, but the governement CAN and probably already has.

Brilliant way to let the govt know to back off in my opinion.

AWESOME

it about time someone do something like this
the public needs to know the real informations
WE PAID FOR EVERYTHING(taxpayers)
so at least dont they DARE hide anything or anytruth that we paid for...
we OWN THEM its the people who elect and make the economy living
now with their constant denial and lies release to the public
they own us pretty bad ... its a psychological prison we live in today
they control our mind our thoughs by editing the real true things

the founder of wikileak and the marines who helped this leak are REAL HEROES... they know the truth and they said ITS ENOUGHT
all marines should be able NOW to tell between the difference of Good/Bad
and a truth/lie

i think this new undisclosed mysterious info may hide the HOLY GRAIL
on the real reasons why we did go to war with afghanistan and Irak in the first place ... of course the Gov will denied it after its release
but more people will know the truth after this (+80% and more)
even some high officials will now realise they were duped and will perhaps do something to have a complete regime change...
no more "FOREIGN INTERREST"
the congress needs to have REAL AMERICANS not a 3/4 controlled pro-zionist congress

it depend now of how the white house will change its policies to THE BETTER and not condemn it and accuse the leakers of having blood on their hands with this release .... (oh... they done that already)
so ASSANGE WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR ....
GO FOR IT ALL THE WAY BEFORE THEY WIPE YOUR SITE DOWN + ALL TORRENTS SITE

The US government responded by telling their lapdogs in the media to portray Assange as someone with blood on his hands. They were talking about charging him with treason and murder on 'FOX' yesterday.

That's pretty much all they can do at this point.

Character assassination (as opposed to actual assassination) is always used as a propaganda tool to varying levels of effectiveness.

They probably hold the opinion that the brown stuff sticks regardless of what is released. If he can be discredited, the information will have less of an impact, and there will be introduced a psychological element of doubt of authenticity...'maybe it's true information or maybe it's that nasty, discredited person lying their face off' kind of deal.

There's not much else that can be done by the US government at this point really. Although it does say to Assange, they may be considering coming after him regardless of the 'insurance', based on a belief that people will not believe the information if they do a good enough personality assault on him first.

It's a chess game.

i am sick of all the secrecy and crap. The governments of the world treat it's own citizens like crap and children and condem people like assange fr sharing the truth.
Good on him and i support him 100%. The government and the military have become pathalogical liers over the years and it will only get worse.
when it should be getting better!!! we have come to far to let deceptive gvernment and military operations set us back.

The growing consensus is:
1) Pr0n
2) Something that will send world markets into a tailspin

Now, number one would be completely hilarious, but I am pretty sure it is number two. I think this is just in case someone gets bumped off. The United States government probably knows what it is already. Its only a matter of time before the key gets released.

It is a game of chance and a game of strategy. Someone is going to lose big.

I know I will repeat some of what has been said, but please bear with me.

The file posted "Insurance" may be of fascination for all of us; we may download it and wait with baited breath for Assange to give us the key; but this is not at all the point of the "Insurance" file.

Whatever it contains, the federal government of the USA has already opened it and read what is inside. It is Assange's gambit that the material is so damning of Republicans and Democrats alike including the current administration in the Executive Branch that the USA and its attendant 'security' and 'intelligence' agencies will leave them alone and stop floating threats "through the ether" of retaliation or the outright taking out (that means "killing") Assange or any of his associates.

My suspicion is that there are people in the USA's federal government who are shaking in their shoes ... planning to purchase property in South America ... disappear ... you know the drill. Is it a good time for the Bushes to leave for Paraguay?

We'll see.

I just don't think Wikileaks is legit.

They release all these tons of files on Afghanistan and yet nothing about the Opium/Heroin Trade?? Nothing about who is really funding the Taliban insurgency??

Gotta be kidding me.

Anyone who has done research knows that Heroin is one of the central aspects of the Afghanistan operations.

But yet nothing in these so called "leaks" exposes anything worth calling it a leak. I am sorry.

Call me disinfo all you want, but it only proves you do not know my history.

Why was the Taliban destroying all of the poppy fields and then the minute the International military alliance shows up, the poppy fields are exploding and increasing daily? And yet nothing is done to stop this??

And none of these "leaks" expose any of it. What the hell?

So of course I call shenanigans.

Please research this heroin aspect of all of this. And ask yourselves why none of this is being exposed right now?

Everyone knows we kill people wrongly over there, thats widely known accepted fact. Tons of soldiers who served there tell us all about it.

Many of those soldiers, even one that is a very close friend, claims they think the insurgency (Taliban) is being funded by our own NATO alliance simply to keep the war going. This is just speculation based on the things they saw when they were there...

None of the real secrets are being revealed by wikileaks.

If they do come out and expose the drug cartel or the secret funding of the Taliban, I'll start considering wikileaks useful. Until then, I don't trust a thing they have to say or "leak". Sorry.

Oh yeah and when I said he must have the cipher given to him by someone else, I was referring to the fact that they will get documents and sit on them for a few weeks then come out saying "we cracked the encryption heres the files" which is total bunk IMO you cannot just break into it that easily I am sorry I just cannot believe it lol.

When I saw the key phrase in an earlier article, I had a pretty good idea what Wikileaks is. Obama is feeding this information to attempt to discredit the republican party in a push to help his re-election. Blame Bush has been his game plan from day one. He is using all the information from the "previous administration" to make Democrats look good. Think about it, he decides to take a soft approach with Assange and ask him nicely to stop.

It's just a theory, but it sounds good to me.

How strong AES256 can be:

The average cracking speed for AES256 is 1,500 p/s.
With 8 lowercase alphabet characters, we'll have 26^8 keyspace
To crack it, you need 4.4 years.

what probably is the case:
If they use 10 characters MixAlphaNumeric : 62^10 keyspace
To crack it, you need 26614008303 years

Whatever is in there, no one will be bruteforce opening it any time soon. I doubt the US government knows what is ins...actually, our technology is probably hundreds of years ahead of what we have so....it would probably still take a few years.

We are not getting this unless arrest warrants and or hits are placed upon the wikileaks staff.

They are making sure this is so widely distributed that there will be ZERO censorship.
Whatever is in that file is important. I mean, world shattering important.

Crossing my fingers, UFO disclosure. Or maybe Cheney deleted emails.

one way or the other, wikileaks is pretty much blackmailing the gov't.

if you punish us we will release the super secret squirrel document here that you dont want us to release!!

whither or not there is any substantial info is not important. i wonder if uncle sam will call thier bluff? lol

Think again. There is no better way to put cause a massive outrage of pro-government efforts to strangle uncensored use of the internet than this current situation. That could be the driving force here in letting him "get away" with what he is doing. He is playing their game, not the other way around.
