See there is a difference between older women and younger men, compared to young women to older men. The difference is the masculinity, hormones ect. The reason it is looked down upon with older men and younger women is because well it is sick, a 30 year old with a 16 year old girl is just wrong. The guy can rape her; he can do a lot of things to her that is wrong. Now switch this around. What is a 30 year old woman going to do to a 16, 17, 18 year old kid? She’s obviously not going to rape him as (no offense intended) the guy is probably stronger then the teacher at that age. So if no rape or sexual harassment is involved it is just the age of consent that is the problem. Call me bias but even though I do see a problem with this, I would not classify them as a "criminal" because the teacher is a nymph. But like again I am bias, if this was about a 30 teacher that’s a guy, with a 16 year old girl I would be saying different things right now. I just personally think a 16, 17, 18 year old male can take care of himself, compared to a female in that position.

Control Yourselves!

We can control ourselves. We are not brutes or beasts.

We do have emotions that come into play even if we don't realize it at the time.We can control our urges and desires. That is one of the main ways in which we are different than animals.

We haven't even started discussing the possible transmission of STD's. With all the evidence just on this thread, what about a male student getting AIDS or herpes, or genital warts or HPV, or chlamydia or hepatitis .etc. These trusted teachers could be giving a lifetime of illness or death to young men or affecting their ability to have children in the future? And think of all the heartbreak involved.

While we need to treat people equally, that does not mean treating them the same.

Teenage boys would likely remember being 'molested' by their high teacher as one of the highlights of their lives.

Teachers and students should not have sex, regardless of age or gender. Almost all of the techers on that site had sex with young men, not little boys. In my book, "that' my boy!".

Having some free time and wanting to review the incident I described on the first page, I found an old news article detailing the case.

BRISTOL -- — Former New Britain High School teacher Kristi Van Buren sat quietly next to her husband Wednesday as a prosecutor told how she had sexual intercourse with a student in several local parking lots last year.

Van Buren barely blinked as prosecutor Stephen Preleski went on to describe the oral sex she engaged in with at least one student in her Burlington home. She offered no apologies and remained calm as she was subsequently sentenced to 45 days in prison, becoming the state's first woman to be incarcerated for having sex with students while she was a teacher. The students themselves were seventeen and eighteen-years-old at the time the crimes were committed. I do not believe that she was charged with sexual assault according to the ages of the pupils, but charged under a law that prohibits teachers from having sexual relations with students:

Court officials said Van Buren was the first female teacher in the state to be charged and sentenced under a state law passed in 1994 that prohibits any sex, consensual or otherwise, between students and teachers.

What I do find ironic, however, is that Van Buren reported a staff member who was having a relationship with the very student Van Buren was later accused of assaulting.

A former certified public accountant who began teaching in 1995, Van Buren confirmed that one of the students had approached her in May 2000 about his relationship with another staff member.

In an interview before the court session, Van Buren said she reported to administrators what the teen said. The paraprofessional was placed on a paid administrative leave while the police department and state Department of Children and Families conducted an investigation. Shortly after that, the paraprofessional resigned from the district. She has not been charged with any crime.

If I was one of the students, I wouldn't care. But thats speaking from the 14 or 15 or 16 year old point of view, but from an adult point of view with children I think its horrible. For one, if it was men they get 15 to 25 to 30 years in prison, but for the woman she gets little or no time. Especially the one that was from texas and had sex with an 18 year old. I think that shouldn't be considered but they changed the law to make it a crime and the grand jury wouldn't indict her. But if that was a man having sex with his 18 year old female studen, you can bet your last dollar they would have pushed for indictment.

Back to the thread.. I'll just take it visceral. If he's older and the teacher, she's vulnerable. If the genders reverse, we've got people looking for the URL to buy the DVD. The gut thing is the truth... the female of the species IS vulnerable, it's how we're built. The laws have nothing to do with it.
This kind of double standard is the reason why the laws smell funny, and a lot of revenue happens. But I'm an old fashioned guy on this one: everybody who starts up WITH A STUDENT should get slammed for it. Off- duty, and with both participants of LEGAL AGE, I don't care if it's Harold and Maude. Well, maybe not that much point spread...

I know. At least there are some studies done on the abuse at public schools. I guess we need to keep bringing out these articles and showing what goes on and on and on.

Sorry. I am sooo sick of the priest bashing that goes on, but if we keep our eyes open for news of this sort and keep bringing these crimes into the light of day, maybe we can get some support from people.

There weren't just 17 or 18 year olds getting busy, there were children ranging from 9 up to 16, to me that's a child predator, No ifs ands or buts. Look every guy had a teacher that was hot but as an adult and a parent you should not be giving your children high fives for nailing the teacher, the kid was just abused.
Let's turn the tables on the supporters. You 17 year old daughter is getting nailed by her 38 year old band teacher... you gonna give her a high five? Didn't think so. And no, it's not different.

Teacher is a person of authority over a student, they are also professionals with degrees in higher education. Using that authority to gain sexual gratification is wrong.

I noticed that the sentencing was relatively light when compared to a male sexual predator. 3 months was the norm... how is that justice?

See my post a few before yours. I clearly pointed out that it IS DIFFERENT.

There is absolutely no PHYSICAL risk to an unborn child in the case of a teen father.

MOST of the reason why we have these laws to begin with is because of PHYSICAL risks to teen mothers and PHYSICAL risks to babies of teen mothers.

Any such list with male teachers?

Predators tend to choose jobs where they have access to their preferred victims, so it doesnt really surprise me. What does surprise me is how many more women are up to this than you ever hear about on the news. And these are just the ones who get caught. Imagine what the total number must be.

Oh yes sir, pregnancy is not an illness or a disease. It is a healthy time for most mothers and babies.

The only PHYSICAL RISKS to teen mothers and the babies of teen mothers (if they survive the abortion chambers) are that they have no daddy in the picture to physically protect them, a lot of babies' daddies do not physically support them. Almost every time a single mother's child is killed, it turns out to be "the mothers live-in boyfriend"!

Also, there is a great PHYSICAL RISK to a pregnant teen with an unborn child, with a teen father who does not want to be responsible and that being battered and hit until one or both are dead.

I really don't know why you are bringing this up. It seems off the topic of sexual abusers of boys and those who cheer them on.
