I am a believer in UFOs but i also try to look at things in a proper manor...
And i also know that is will get shouted down for stating this.

but in England it is becoming very very common for people to use Chinese lanterns

As they can appear very bright and very large in the sky....and on windy nights they do almost exactly as those orbs appear to be doing.

they rise up and then they just hang floating across the sky...

and when they hit higher wind areas they will just flicker out as the candles inside just blow out...

now if anyone wants to test this theory simply grab your video camera go out at night a let some fly...say 10....let them get high enough and far enough away ...and start filming.

you just might be suprised

I am not a skeptic....but i am very objective....because there are so many sceptics out there and they will feed on things like this.

now if the vid was in colour i bet you alsmost ten to one...

they would be orange.

so tear me apart for my interpretation ...but know that i am not a skeptic..

That is all fine and dandy, but I really can't say as I see these rising up, so I think we definitly kill the lantern idea.

I'm from North East England and there isn't a 'swamp' anywhere up here large enough to cause that, not swamp gas.

Not like any lantern I've ever seen.

Flares possibly.

Thing that I don't understand is that they all generate from the same stationary point of origin?

I'm no expert at all, I'm sure other's will have a more informed explanation or viewpoint.

I have asked some associates who are also in local UFO and Paranormal groups to try and find out more about the group that posted it and where it was filmed, I suspect somewhere from Washington upwards.

P.S. Gateshead is far from being a villiage, it is a town in Tyneside and Tyne & Wear where about 80,000 people live.
It is seperated from Newcastle by the river Tyne.

I hope this helps:
This apparently the guy responsible for the footage if you are looking the groups:

paul franciosi of franciosi paranormal society.

Here is a list of R.A.F. bases in North East England.

www.raf.mod.uk...

R.A.F. Boulmer is about an hours drive north of Tyneside.

All the other bases are even further away and are further south than where I live.

Newcastle Airport is a busy international airport and anything unusual would have been witnessed by lots of people.

Cleadon is a small villiage south of South Shields and near Washington which is where those who filmed it are from.
There are no air bases anywhere near Cleadon but it is pretty close to the sea.

I made a test with the lights in sequence in fast forward and fast reverse, something is
wrong here in my opinion, it seems the lights sequence has been inserted in the video,
check this video I captured from the original but in fast forward and backwards. Can you
see the left and right limits where the lights are moving, the range is limited like if a
subscreen has been inserted with some kind of animation. It isn't clear in the zoom
portion because the zoom goes inside the limited range but check the no zoom portion
and watch the sequence carefully. Make your opinion.

Hmmm that is rather curious isnt it. and I notice that doesnt come from anywhere near where the people just happen to walk in front of the camera? That disturb me a bit when that happened.

I sure hope some of these folks get replies but I am not holding my breath on that.

Very cool what you did with the fast forward etc. Certainly sheds a new light

this event seems to be taking place right over the villiage.

can anyone ring the airfield and ask them? if so then i will gladly do it and see what they have to say.

Gateshead has a population of 190,000 that would make it huge by American standards in many states. It certainly isn't a village and i doubt very much you would be dropping paratroops or flares over it. It's actually part of the Newcastle conurbation, a huge area . there are bases in the area, but it is also coastal. I'm a little surprised to see the objects , seemingly, moving in a easterly direction. I could be wrong, but I'm assuming the North sea to the East and this is looking North. If that is so, I'd expect the breeze to be blowing inland at night.

very cool, keep us updated. Maybe he's more known in his ghost hunting circles?I'm trying to track him down too on yt through his friend that posted the video for him. Trying to get him to come here and also trying to catch the video he said he had of it flying over the house and being as big as one as well. That should be interesting in itself.
Did you notice if his facebook seemed to be flooded all the sudden?

This fast forward / reverse clip is very interesting.
I actually like the post and find it rather compelling.

0. Lanterns - As others indicate - not lanterns, this is not typical lantern behaviour.

1. Flares - one would think so initially... but I have concerns with this.
The area is a built up residential area, so military would not (one would not expect anyway) release flares over such an area or near to - not wanting to upset people, not wanting to get police reports, and not wanting to risk injury etc. Additionally there is the fast forward / rewind video by Free Spirit which does NOT show typical Flare behaviour!

2. Videographer - initially I feel concerned that it is someone into the Paranormal, however one has to suppose that eventually someone seeking something would find something...

3. OR - as Free Spirit indicates - and the worst possible event - a believer creates an effect like this by inserting an image or sequence of images

4. OR -(agains honestly 5%) - the behaviour captured by Free Spirit somehow indicates an object or series of objects acting intelligently. My gut tells me otherwise but this is a possibility. If you watch Free Spirit speeded up video, and imagine a spinning disc like UFO... well... need I say more (other than I don't like saying such things being a skeptic).

CONCLUSION:
My Conclusion is that I cannot immediately debunk this as simply as others might. Flares would seem to be an answer until you see the fast forward / rewind video.
Inserted/faked lights seem quite a possibility, but I don't see other evidence (yet) that this is inserted into the video (other than suspicion because of the source of the video).
Or maybe - just maybe - (and I am only 5% on this) we are seeing a Phoenix Lights sequence.

POSTSCRIPT - and edited after reading post by FireMoon...
If so - then there should be SOME (edited re:FireMoon response!) other reports...
And that leads me to my final concern...
If what we see was actual... there would definitely be Some (withdrawn... tens, dozens or hundreds... I have since read an interesting response by FireMoon and I agree with his statement and I withdraw this piece!) other reports because of the proximity of residences, either innocent "flares were seen by witnesses" or "UFO like object similar to that seen over China visits NE England"

And I have not yet seen such reports.

With this last point in hand - I fear that Free Spirit might be on to something that is anything but alien.

EDIT: I agree with what FireMoon has since stated... However I would like to think that such a prolonged event, and seemingly at altitude would elicit additional reports...

ANOTHER POSTSCRIPT (again!)
If we see reports of other witnesses and other videos from other angles, or still images from other people, then I would being to be extremely interested in this video... especially then with regards to the fast forward / rewind post by Free Spirit... because then (and again we are not seeing any such other reports!) we might be seeing an intelligent object rotating in the night sky...
Patiently awaiting hundreds (ok dozens) of additional reports...

TTFN

Edited to add a (second) Postscript...

Some nice work on the video there freespirit.

I have passed the footage links to Nick Pope ex MOD Ufo desk and we will see what Nick says once hes seen your additional footage freespirit.

Initially Nick was going down the Lantern / Flares route although im sure we can count those two out of answer now.

Here is the link to the Franciosi Paranormal Society website:

www.franciosiparanormalsociety.co.uk...

Edit to add:

There is nothing on the website yet about this incident, in fact there is nothing at all about UFO's.

ok I dont know if this part really means anything, but this is what was posted under the description."ufo`s seen over the north east of england at around 2am on july 18th 2010 by paul franciosi of franciosi paranormal society. uploaded by the eye of glebe, washington."
I have gathered it is a big city, but still I would guess as 2am it is going to be a wee bit quieter at that time. We might just be having a delay as well from other posters actually feeling safe enough to post what they saw too. You know how the brits can be all proper and such!

well that may well be but they could also be at the end of the flight...they are coming down and the candles are extinguishing....but to just blantantly deny any possibility out of hand when you posed the post i think you have already decided the are ufo....

but once again...try the test i stated i i bet you change your mind quite swiftly.

i say it from experience....not just off handly...

but the choice is yours

lol thats funny! How would I know that, I thought all brits were proper! Not! Anyhow, it does appear that ghost hunting is more their thing. I would think though, even with that type of experience, they have some clue as to what they are filming and would only want the best or at least to be able to debunk for themselves. Their website is a bit hard to read though. Still they do have some stuff.
