As almost everyone knows by now Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign yesterday after a right-wing blogger edited a speech she gave to the NAACP back in march. The White House telling her to resign because she will be on Glenn Beck! The NAACP came out in condemnation of her and Tom Vilsack(Agriculture Department leader) publicly condemned her.

It was created by a lunatic right-wing blogger and mass distributed on virtually all news sites, especially propagated by FOX News. Not a single journalist or government official or NAACP leader took the time to actually watch her full speech which would have immediately proven that edited video to be the exact opposite of what she was actually saying.

She told a remarkable story, a story that should fill all Americans with pride and hope yet we were suckered into believing she ripped off a poor white farmer because she was a racist. A huge falsification propagated by the right-wing media.

Now to Obama and his team, they screwed up the life of this great woman because they were afraid of Glenn Beck! They were afraid of it airing on Glenn Beck program! Are you #ing kidding!? This guy is paranoid of things airing on Glenn Beck!?

Then we must turn our anger to the media, how dare they air this load of bull#! CNN, MSNBC, Blogs, etc... All aired this crap without looking into it. Professional journalism? Professional journalism? Where is that???


Now to the a separate portion of this thread.


FOX News is the biggest lying machine in the United States. These right-wing media outlets and blogs are read and watched by millions of people, they call themselves journalists when they are far from it! They are nothing but a huge propaganda machine! They spew huge propaganda for the right, they tell people they aren't racist it's actually reverse racism, they have control over the white house because Obama and his staff are afraid of what Glenn Beck says!

Now we have this lunatic going to the Lincoln Memorial on MLK's birthday saying him and the Tea Party are the torch bearers of the Civil Rights Movement and they are not the racists, Obama and the Liberals are!

Glenn Beck is a huge racist, a massive white supremecist! Mormonism, which Glenn Beck is, was consider a racist organization until the 1960's because they openly said blacks were inferior, it's a core part of their religion!

The Tea Party is a massive Right-wing racist organization that proclaims they are the true Americans, they represent average America. Yet they are overwhelmingly white, racist and ultra-conservative. They now have their own Caucus within the House of Representatives where they can further install their racist, ultra-conservative and corporatist policies that have for decades brought America to its knees!

This is a war! This is not a bloody war, this is an ideological war. A war over the future of America where on one-side we have the people who would like America to move forward and educate themselves, on the other-side we have the people who would like America to move backwards and install racism, sexism and hatred through indoctrination.

This is a war that we cannot lose, it is a war against right-wing bloggers like Dan Gainor, Right-Wing Media Critic, Offers Cash For Assault On Alan Grayson. So Alan Grayson promises to punch back. PUNCH BACK GRAYSON, PUNCH BACK!!!!!

This is what we are dealing with here, people who are either so stupid they spread their own ignorance or people who are willing to terrify Americans so they listen to them. That is what is happening on right-wing blogs, that is what is happening on AM Radio, that is what is happening on FOX News, and that is what is happening on Above Top Secret.

So many people here claim to be above the ignorance, hell they even say to deny and denounce it. I am not saying I am the most enlightened person or that I am not ignorant to some things because that would be a lie. But people who attack others for not agreeing with them and then say, "I don't watch Fox, Glenn Beck or other right-wingers." Either they are lying or they are spreading their own ignorance.

It is one thing to talk politics and have debates, support your own positions no matter what they are. It is another to spread ignorance and attack militantly against anyone who does not support your right-wing agenda.

I do not see the issue here, there are always going to be 2 or more sides to anything. While you have this need to bash FOX News (Faux), there are just as many travesties in the reporting of almost anything in all networks.

This kind of viral incident happens EVERY DAY on all sorts of topics, from the downright frivolous to the critically important. Even here at ATS. It's an alarming escalating trend. What's more it really is a SICKNESS, and it's dangerous. The minute story "broke" it was CLEAR what was happening. Crystal clear.

She should sue the HELL out of this irresponsible blogger and the media for libel and make an example of both him and them for the world to see in the national spotlight. I would gladly contribute to this end, and hope she doesn't rest till heads roll and this beast never "blogs" again and people in the MSM lose ALL their credibility.

But you know what? I have to say it's also the READER'S responsibility to investigate and not go off the emotional deep end and not trust what they're reading so willingly or so blindly. Show some restraint until you have all the facts and NEVER assume you do.

(As for her boss and whatever other idiot in the Obama administration who made the decision to fire her without investigating and with such apparent fear of a television show should probably be jobless too. But you know what? To be fair to them, we don't really know what went down in their conversations with her. For all we know she told them to stick it where the sun don't shine by that point. Or not.)

I think the whole incident is laughable. If you go to the Bloggers website there were other clips and the blogger did take things out of context.

Why wouldn't you explain yourself? Other than calling others racist, intolerant, and saying that they are the next Hitler (little sarcasm there, did you catch it?) you are not actually putting forth any of the reasoning behind your accusations. I understand that a lot of folks are against religion as you seem to be with your signature, do you have any evidence that Glenn Beck himself is an avowed racist other than his Mormon beliefs?

If not, I do not think that your attacks are warranted, and that his questions are probably very worthy of those that will be perusing this thread in the future.

I will be waiting expectantly for proof, as I too think he is a shill. For totally different reasons though.

Also as others have mentioned, Glenn Beck was the reason she was called repeatedly on the phone while she was driving to work. They even made her pull off to the shoulder and told her to resign immediately right there on that shoulder.

Glenn Beck didn't cover the story and he didn't condemn her either. Beck had nothing to do with it. The Obama Admins paranoia had everything to do with it.


I'm really getting sick of the race crap. Good people, black, white, hispanic, are all being hurt by this media frenzy over race as of late. We need to stop giving this crap any more credence than it deserves. Which is none.

FOX News gets it.....reports it, and lets the viewers decide. The others decide for the viewers whether something is news or not, and that depends mainly how it affects the Democrat Party, Obama in particular.

I think you may need to rethink though, there is a limit to the liberalism that can be applied before a system necessarily fails. That limit has long since passed and yet we continue to the left. The point he was trying to make was compared to "today" we are way more liberal, he was in no way saying that our founding fathers were the most conservative of anyone in the past.

Kinda funny how the founding fathers would be considered libertarians and constitutionalists in current vocabulary, not really conservative...
