I have indicated in my other thread Is this what it feels like to "shift" I have had a lot of strange things happening to me. This is one of them, and I felt it deserved it's own thread.

When I dream I feel like I am living another life, or another person's life.

It's very different from regular "dreaming", where the senses are "dulled", or you feel like you are watching a movie. It "feels" like another existence, another reality, like "life" but the circumstances are completely different.

I wonder if anyone else on ATS is experiencing a similar phenomenon?

I feel the same way, and when I tell other people, friends and family. They can't relate.
Last night was the most vivid. And I was lucid, I felt like a child looking amazed at everything. I immediately asked to look outside, I felt so amazed. As soon as I asked what city I was in I didn't get a response, I asked someone else, and I woke up.
My dreams are also really long, I feel as if i dream a whole day, or two. I can even recall dreams I have had in a dream.
I love it.

Thats funny you just made this topic, I was just thinking about the same thing(like literally just now). Unfortunately, recently I haven't been able to remeber my dreams at all, but I have a hunch that what your talking about happens to me during the time I dont remember, I dont know why, its just a hunch. Really interesting topic though, maybe has something to do with twin souls.

It does feel like another "life" when I'm dreaming. My life, but different from the daytime life. Very vivid, very real. And yes, it feels like it goes on for a full day often. I can definitely say I am having some great adventures.

I'm specifically talking about the dreams that are remembered, and theses "dreams" if that is what they are, are as vivid as my life, which is why I feel that they aren't really dreams, if that makes any sense.

makes complete sense to me.

Have you ever watched that show called 'Quantum Leap" were the guy is stuck in the machine he built and is zapped through time into different peoples bodies so that he can correct things that have gone wrong in that life?

Some of my dreams are kind of like that... not all of them, but some of them. Although most of my dreams are very vivid, I undesrtand what you mean saying that some of the feel different compared to the others, like your really liveing another life.

I think it might be possible to be liveing parrallel lives sometimes, sort of like haveing past lives only there going on more or less at the same time. Its sort of a difficult concept to grasp though, at least for me, thinking about it makes me feel a bit bewildered :p

I have experienced dreams myself that I truly thought was reality untill I woke. One time I had a stranger than usual experience in a dream. I was about 20 years old in college and a couple times I had this dream where I was walking around my grandparents house which I was living in during school but everythign thing was opposite. The house is brand new, large, open bright. But in my dream it was dark and almost like it should have been comdemned. I walked up the stairs and they turned left instead of right, the rooms were on total opposite sides , almost like a mirror image of the house . even the lighting was strange, there were candles all over the place lighting the house, it was just light enough to see where i was going . Also there was a strange girl curled up in a blanket on the landing that looked at me like she was afraid of me or something. It might not seem strange to most but it was for me because it was somewhere I had been before but exactly opposite. Has anyone ever had a dream where they have seem a something non-fictional but have not been introduced to it yet. I'm talking about a dream I had when I was about 5 years old I remember to this day like it was yesterday. Something I had never seen before but when I acutally did when i was about 16 it was exactly as portrayed.

Yes, I experience the same thing. We are expected by psychiatry to be revealing personal affectations of our lives through our dreams.

However, there are many of my dreams that have absolutely no connection to my life. I find this strange.

For me, I don't really find it as a movie. Perhaps a past or future life. Who knows. It really is perplexing. Someone please come along and explain.

Makes perfect sense, i believe i jump into another life, sometimes in another dimension/reality. Nothing is like the waking life. A thought that i have been pondering about is communicating with that other self. Last nights dream felt as if I had some control. Others it feels as if its just a ride. I would really want to leave a "message" of sort, something that the other self can question, or even respond to.

The other day I had a dream I would like to share.

It was in the post Egyptian period and their was an old support structure made of travertine. The structure was tall and at the top of the support structure there was a missing Egyptian sculpture.

What replaced the the sculpture was a rudimentary stone mosaic (granite) ugly patch in place.

However, the ancients placed either great wealth or information behind the novice patched stonework.

I knew in the dream it was of a great work that was bestowed behind that patch. But, that is where the dream ended.

Something great is awaiting our discovery. Why did I dream this in vivid detail. I would recognize the structure in real life. HMMM.

It "feels" like another existence, another reality, like "life" but the circumstances are completely different. quote:

It could be due to the vibrations leading the spiritual awakening. I have dreams in which I can feel my emotions physically and I have learned to participate and control the outcome,to force a change in the outcome in the ending of the particular dream. What you can do is to tell yourself that you will actively participate in your dreams. Try to strengthen your willpower and repeat to yourself to program your subconsious. Like this"I will actively participate in my dream and control the outcome" until you are able to do it.
Do not take all dreams at face value. Most of what is in the dream are messages and you have to try to find out what it means and what it is pointing to.This is the same with dream predictions. It does not mean that things will happen exactly as what is in your dream.
Whether you or others choose to believe this is your free will to awaken yourself,to elevate yourselves.Maybe as time passes you may find that there is some truth in it.

Hi!

Yes, I have had similar experiences.

When I was a teeenager I was bored one day so I challenged myself to the thought that a dream can never feel real. Well, that night I had a dream that I was walking through a park. I could feel the wind blowing on my skin, I could hear my friend talking - it felt exactly like real life feels!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since then I have had similar experiences

That is probably the best analogy I have heard, and it is a really good comparison.

The thing is that I am in control, just like life. The sensations are all there along with the emotions, just like in "real life".

I hope that you will feel a bit less bewildered knowing that you are not the only one feeling this. I know I do!

I can absolutely relate. I am 29 years old and have always had dreams, some weird, some fairly normal, but they all felt as I was watching a movie after I woke up. Then about a month or so ago, I had a dream that was so profound, so vivid, so real. I felt like I had some control or at least consciously participated in. Since, I have had 2 more vivid dreams like that (none of them were related). As you can tell my by my username, the dreams are why I decided to open an account here. Hoping to get answers to dreams that felt more like to me actively participating in another life of mine (past, present, or future) or experiencing a moment of another life of mine. I immediately wrote down the details of my dreams each time and can still remember all 3 pretty well. I will post what I wrote down for each dream I had, they are long, but maybe someone else can relate or help me since I don't understand why I had these 3 dreams. I still have my normal "movie" dreams by the way. Had one last night where I was in an episode of King of Queens (which is one of my favorite shows, so I can understand why I would dream something like this). The 3 dreams have no relevance to anything in my life (that I am aware of), which makes them even more strange. Here they are:

I am lying in bed and and next to me a very tall (7ft approx.) pale skin, almost grey woman is hovering by my bed. One eye is normal, like a human and the other is a ocean blue, reptile green mix with some sort of pattern with no pupil or iris. She then layed on the bed next to me, gazing into my eyes and communicated to me telepathically and said these words "Your existance in this universe is like that of ants on earth. Do not focus on money and material things". She then left my bed asked "Can I leave now?" I said yes, but was thinking no. I sensed she knew I wanted her to stay, but she just disappeared. I immediately woke up and wrote down as much as possible. We were talking as if we already knew each other and like she wasn't suppose to be talking to me. Like we have done this before and she cannot get caught doing it. She was benevolent and actually gave off a soothing, calming sensations. I tried asking her questions like who are you and where did you come from, but she did not want to answer and seemed to get agitated, so I quit asking. We never acknowldged each other by name, as if names did not exist in this dream or (or whatever it really was). This has stuck with me for a while now, it's been a month since the dream and I keep thinking about her. I have tried thinking about her before I sleep, but she has not returned.

I was with 2 other people (didn't recognize them) and they took off before I did. I had told them of a secret spot of mine and they rushed to get there and I followed behind. I then started to kinda fly/float through a large grassy field at night.I was going fast, like in Star Trek when the ship goes into warp speed. When we got there it was like a giant cul-de-sac of grass with a forest surrounding with a giant tree in the middle. We were all in amazement. One of the other persons I was with went to the far right side of the field and looked over a ledge. I started to go over to see what he was looking at and to my amazement, we were actually not on the ground but higher, alot higher up as a pink and purple forest resided below. I then realized this was not earth and I was so excited I woke up and wrote down all of this. What could this mean? I have tried thinking about this place before I go to sleep, but I have not returned yet.Even though I didn't recognize the place, I feel connected to it, like is/was/will be another me's secret place.

The first memory of this dream is being in a large, what seemed like a Catholic, church. The ceiling was dome shaped with a lot of stained glass, but didn't recognize any of the art or symbols on them as the ceiling was very high. It was stadium seating with each row being about 20 seats long. The priest was a woman (had a female voice) and was very far away. She was speaking, but I didn't understand what she was saying. Not sure if it was another language or that she was just too far away. My row for some reason was only 2 seats and there was a woman sitting next to me (didn't recognize her). I noticed the priest coming up the isles and stopping at each one for a brief moment. She was completely covered up in some sort of robe, I couldn't see her face and she had no feet, she was floating. As she passes me, I can see a small pair of piercing eyes turn back and glance at me. I black out. The next thing I know, I am in an elevator with the woman that was sitting next to me. I look down and I am hooked up to a machine similar to a small portable oxygen machine. There is a long clear tune going from the machine and into the back part of my left leg. I can see my blood flowing through this tube. I am panicked at this point and then I noticed that the blood has stopped pumping as the tube starts to get clear and I feel faint. The woman in the elevator does something to the machine and makes it work again. This happens about 3 or 4 times throughout the dream. I cannot tell if we are going up or down, but we arrive at what seems to be a small market. The woman leaves the elevator and starts looking for someone. I follow her since I do not know where I am. I tried asking her who she was looking for, but she would not answer me. We went back in the elevator and go to the next floor, which is another market, but the layout was different and went through the same process of looking for someone and then back to the elevator. When we get to what ends up being the final floor, the woman is gone. The door opens and it looks like an ER and the "doctors" have all this equipment on and are motioning for me and are acting like they are panicking over my condtition, but I suddenly felt relief. They put me on some type of flat bed machine dolly that they could adjust. Then I woke up and wrote all of this down. What could this mean?
