I will get to the point.

After it rained the other day here in the MidWest, Missouri, I have had some symptoms I'd like to discuss with anyone experiencing similar or concerned about the 'fallout' from the BP disaster and the Gulf stream winds and rain.

Here is what I am experiencing:

Staying out just a few minutes after the light rain began to fall, I noticed a slight metallic taste on the sides of my tongue.

Within 30 minutes my head began to pound, and that night I woke with a very nasty taste in my mouth and felt my upper lungs begin to feel infected.

The next day I felt lethargic and gradually more concerned about having been exposed to a toxic mix from the Gulf disaster.

Last night I was spitting up chest mucus and continued to have a really infected taste in my mouth.

Today, I took some meds to clear the lungs and felt pretty good otherwise. I couldnt get enough to drink, and there is a slight elevated temp, but being very healthy I think might have helped.

The headache has been constant.

Anyway, I know that there are several BP threads that are so important, and I follow them daily, but I also did not want to try and discuss the health effects of my worries and derail the important topics being discussed.

Thanks.

Well I am in Missouri as well and I have the same symptoms. However I also traveled to Louisiana several times last week(crazy story).

I have a bad cough and a sore throat my daughter has the same and so does my driving partner. We were all caught in the rain during one of our trips down but did not start feeling bad until the rain in our home area(Mid-Missouri). However I have not been "in" the rain here.

I will say I feel like something that needs to be picked up with a plastic bag and put in the trash.

Hope we all feel better soon.

Thanks for posting, I am sorry to hear about you and your family.

Am I being paranoid or is there something being carried in the rain which is potentially going to cause problems for us?

Would they ever advise us?

I wouldnt think much about it other than I am hardly ever ill, I was the only one out in it and am the only one showing symptoms.

If you are paranoid then so am I!

I spent a large part of my youth playing in the rain down south and never got sick. Our world is changing and I don't doubt that my illness and that of my friends and family is due to additives in the atmosphere.

There is no way anyone will be kept from this oil spill and its after effects.

I KNOW! There is nothing I love more than a refreshing summer rain.

Will usually stay out in it untill the lightning gets too close. .

But if there is a danger people should be told!

Here is a prime example of how the media should be acting during this most significant and wide spread disaster.

I am in Ontario Canada. For some reason, I am experiencing the same symptoms. I am a landscaper, as my friend is, and he has the same thing.

Now, it could just be a flu or something, but that taste you described is what i am experiencing. My cheeks seem to be sore as well. If you have sore cheeks(all around the mouth) please do tell.

We are having the foul taste as well. My daughter has a sore that erupted on the roof of her mouth and we just keep rinsing it with salt water. It is all very strange.

Here in Ga...we had a downpour yesterday....was outside taking trash to the curb during the light part of the rain. My 9 year old daughter has complained of her throat and eyes burning for about 3 days now, and yesterday after coming in from the rain about 5 minutes later I had a migraine and I feel today like I am getting a chest cold. No metallic taste, but I woke up this morning feeling like I had a hangover. This of course could just be a summer flu (I do not get summer allergies) but I'll admit, with us being so close here in the south, yes, I am paranoid.

Hello Antar and Freedomataprice......... I live in SW Missouri and you may have not read about the project that I and Paxnatus will be launching on testing the rain for dispersants or other toxic compounds due to the Gulf event.

I also took a sample on July 3rd and have sent it off to a lab for testing.

I invite you and anyone else to join us and help collect samples for testing.

We will be making an official announcement here on ATS hopefully this week of the project launch. We have individuals collecting samples over many states…………

This thread talks about it……… www.abovetopsecret.com...

U2U me if you would like to submit samples from your area…………

More to come on this project!!

Thanks,

Clouds

It appears a few people in this have suffered the same symptoms, IMO that's kinda something to worry about

How does one hide from toxic rain?
Hope this doesn't get any worse.

Sorry to hear that you folks don't feel well. It is strange, I am in Ohio and with the exception of the metallic taste, I too am having these same symptoms and so is one of my daughters. I don't think its the oil spill though as I am no where near it.

I find it really hard to believe that this oil spill is already affecting us here in the Midwest. Would these affects be from the COREXIT? But doesn't it seem hard to believe that this is coming from the Gulf without a larger mechanism pushing it, like a hurricane? How could this physcially and scientifically be possible?

However, and I hate to admit this, but it rained last night here in Michigan as well. Today, all of my kids have the same symptoms that you all are describing. I was in the rain more than them, but I do not have their eye and throat symptoms. Instead, my whole body is itching like crazy since last night. Oil spill, airplane chem trails, Corexit, or what?

Upstate NY.
We are all having the same symptoms (3 people in household, plus other family and friends). I am past 2 weeks with it now. I usually fight things off easily, but can't seem to shake this one. As far as I know it did not come on from being in the rain. First was high temp with stomach cramps, then extreme fatigue and muscular ache with chest and nose thing. The nasty taste in my mouth is probably from having germs in my throat , chest and nose.
My friend saw the doctor, he was diagnosed with BACTERIAL sinusitis and Bronchitis. I don't get sick often and never in tha summer time. I have been with my boyfriend for 12 years now and this is the first time I have ever known him to have a fever.

Personally I think its way too early in the investigative stage to tell if toxic rain could potentially be causing sickness.

Ultimately some real medical professionals are going to have to do a barrage of real tests, on individuals who are really suffering these symptoms in an ongoing chronic fashion to make that determination.

However the age old adage of physician heal thy self is very true. Your mind can either assist you to get better in really almost any case where you aren’t missing vital body parts, or your mind can convince you to get worse through the power of your own suggestion as well.

Does that mean the symptoms aren’t real? No! Does it mean they couldn’t be caused by toxic rain resulting from the Gulf of Mexico oil leak? No! But conversely it doesn’t mean that those real symptoms aren’t being helped along by some real paranoia, and some real fear, and it doesn’t mean that the symptoms are a result of toxic rain either.

People who really, really want to help deny ignorance, need to get their butts down to doctors and clinics when they feel these things are happening, and commit themselves to the real procedures and tests that will give them as well as all of us the peace of mind that comes from really knowing.

In the meantime in all honesty in my humble opinion people who are thinking along these lines, but just thinking aren’t doing themselves or anyone else any favors just by voicing what is essentially unconfirmed fears.

Let me put it to you this way, if the people are as irrational as the government is, when it comes to pursuing these things honestly and fully, we are all in real trouble.

I hope everyone feeling poorly feels better soon, but if you are sick and you really think it’s from the rain, do yourself and all of us a favor and get to an honest doctor and find out why you are really sick.

Thanks, and good luck to you all.

This post will self destruct in 10 seconds, if any of you are killed or captured while at the doctor, ProtoplasmicTraveler as usual will deny ever having made this post and disavow any knowledge of you!

Seeking out multiple medical opinions is not mission impossible!

Guys, what you are describing sounds to me like an Upper respiratory Infection. Have any of you been to the doctors about any of these, if so without going into too much private stuff, what did they say ?

EDIT to add, I am a medical Professional before anyone ask's

Ontario is too high up north from the Gulf despite the curvature

i'm sure if Ontario was affected then almost the entire southern states would be incredibly sick right now

I hate to say Modern but thats not true..........Canada can and will more than likely be affected if the rain is "toxic"

Can you believe the US gov conducted research concerning acid/toxic rain over a 6 year period in some of our National Parks..........

The results were very alarming. Toxins from as far as China where detected.........

Here is the link...... www.epa.gov...

www.cbsnews.com...

Knowing that this study is out there.........all areas in North America should be tested if samples do come back "toxic"
