There is no "other side"

Not all muslims are or support terrorists.

I guess the real sheeps must be ATS since you dont anything about Islamization, you never questioned why Islam spreads so fast, and why they do want eupore as there own.

Oh and french has problems with islamization thus this way they are banning the wear of burqa.
And you know what? i agree with the french on the issue of burqa your in there country and thus have to follow the law of the land.

If you want to wear it why not go back to your country then?

You remind me of my cousin. Se watches the news non stop and worries consistently over nothing. Islam is not speeding like you think it is. In truth the Christian religion will and is already spreading faster over the globe as we speak.

Why Not?

Hmmm... maybe this? Guess that people do not want to talk about this... hehe

Question: Why did they name this $100 million dollar Mosque the Córdoba house?

Answer: It is named after the first mosque built by Muslims in Spain as a triumph for victory over Spain.

A mosque at Ground Zero is something intelligent people can dispute honestly and in good faith. But honesty is essential, and it would be dishonest to dismiss the implications of proposing to name it Cordoba House.

“Cordoba,” in Islamic symbolic terms, means Islamic rule in the West. It does not mean “coexistence,” unless coexistence is interpreted as referring to Islamic rule. Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs cites the article (original in Arabic) published by Iraqi-American Khudhayr Taher on 18 May, in which Taher explains the following: We must note that a hostile and provocative name [Cordoba] has been chosen for this mosque…Choosing the name ‘Cordoba House’ for the mosque to be constructed in New York was not coincidental or random and innocent. It bears within it significance and dreams of expansion and invasion [into the territory] of the other, [while] striving to change his religion and to subjugate him…

“Cordoba” is not a name that evokes peaceful coexistence of Islam and the West.

The Imam, according to the link provided below, wrote a book originally titled What's Right With Islam, later called, What's Right With America, and still later in 2007 retitled for distribution in the Arab countries:

" From The World Trade Center Rubble, Islamic Da'wah, Post 9/11"

From the book, according to this link, "The American political structure is Shariah compliant", and, "For America to score higher on the Islamic or Sharia compliant scale, America would need to do two things: invite the voices of all religions to join the dialog in shaping the nations practical (secular?) life and allow religious communities more leeway to judge among themselves, according to their own laws"

Is that a call to a theocratic America?

My first question on hearing this a couple of weeks ago was whether Americans are completely ignorant of history.

Cordoba was, of course, the seat of the caliphate established in what is now modern Spain after the Islamic invasion from North Africa in the 8th century A.D. The medieval occupation of Spain – “al-Andalus” – is considered by Islamic theorists to have been an inevitable step in the manifest destiny of Islam, and its eventual reversal through the lengthy European “Reconquista” a tragic but temporary triumph of the infidels. The great mosque at Cordoba was built on the foundation of a Christian cathedral, and when Europeans retook Cordoba in the 13th century they turned the magnificent mosque back into a cathedral.

But there is also no question that the mosque at Cordoba represents a history of conquest and reconquest that, from the perspective of Islamists, is at an unfinished stage as of today. The caliphate of Cordoba was the geographic high point of Umayyad Muslim rule – that is, of the original caliphate that succeeded Mohammed – on European territory. It represents a glory that Islamists intend to restore. Its eventual loss to the Europeans represents, equally, an evil reversal, imposed by infidels, that requires redress.

It used to not even be a stretch for reasonably well educated Westerners to recognize the place of Spain and Cordoba in the history of the West and Islam. Many of today’s younger adults, however, have learned nothing about the Mediterranean before 1492 except that the Muslim period in Spain was a flowering of science, art, and culture. There was a great deal to admire in the accomplishments of the Muslim Cordobans, but they did, in fact, invade and conquer Spain, sell its inhabitants into slavery, provide a base for slaver raids into other parts of Europe, and rule by the sword in much of the caliphate.

“Cordoba” is not a name that evokes peaceful coexistence of Islam and the West.

A mosque at Ground Zero is something intelligent people can dispute honestly and in good faith. But honesty is essential, and it would be dishonest to dismiss the implications of proposing to name it Cordoba House.

Baa-aa-aa

Islam isn't doing anything that Christianity didn't already do and now it's being vilified and used to further the real problems in America.

Eye opening to say the least but my views are unchanged. Their statement is only effective if we show them we care. They have all the right to make a statement honestly after we turned several Iraqi and Afghanistani cities into places resembling a WWII-era Britain. But eff em, let em have their mosque its not like they're in my backyard takin my livestoc and burning my crops.

I just think that a place of worship for all faiths and beliefs would of suited our country better. A non denomination place to congregate and brake bread together, outside of our differences in 'faith'.

It seems to me this would of been more 'up with the times' then a Mosque or church of any kind.

We are bringing a religion to ground zero that awaits to spread its 'spiritual laws' to the world.

We could of made the worlds largest congregational ground for people of all faiths...over a place of ONE faith.

It would of allowed us to grow more as a people, to of made a place to come together and congregate, outside our belief systems and still show acceptance to one another, being of ONE kind.

Okay, I have a couple of questions. Maybe more than a couple (I don't want to derail/hijack the thread, but "Oh, well!"):

* What do you believe to be the 'respectful' distance from ground zero to build a mosque?
* Is two city blocks (about 1800') too little?
* Why?
* Do you object to the building of a mosque because you have thoroughly researched Islam, or because you believe the entire religion of Islam was responsible for 9/11?
* Why do you think Islam was responsible for 9/11?
* Explain why a mosque is disrespectful to the victims of 9/11.
* Please provide empirical proof that Islam was the cause of the 9/11 attacks.

* If the Mosque, and all other houses of worship, paid taxes would you think differently?
* What would be the effect on the deficit if religions paid tax?
(No that interested in "why" you think they should/shouldn't pay taxes, just how it would affect things.)

So a religion, who is tax exempt, have the wherewithal to build a house of worship on (let's face it) very expensive real estate, and people are upset because they believe - right or wrong - that a religion was responsible for 9/11. Am I reading that right? Mosques are bad because (allegedly) the perpetrators of 9/11 were supposedly Muslim.

If some business-savvy people, who happen to be supporters of Islam, find some prime real estate for the right price, and take advantage of it, isn't that the "American Dream"? Or is the American Dream only open to white capitalists? I don't see the problem here.

Should we despise all Christians because a vast majority of the people who supported the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima were Christians? Same logic, right?

People really need to work on separating religion from "individuals" and various extremist nut jobs and groups when they protest things. I'm not religious myself, but I don't run about blaming religions for the acts of people.

There's no real proof of Islam creating the 9/11 attacks, so why attack Islam when the do something incredibly American?

[sarcasm] I'll be selling tin-foil hats (signed bySean Hannity) in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza.... Very expensive, but you know you want one, since you obviously believe everything you're told to believe [/sarcasm]

It is not right because this is America, ground zero became what it is today because of the hate relegated in this same religion against westerners. The site was chosen because it was an american icon.
A better question would be why?
Why ground zero?
So many places to build, but ground zero is where they want it. It is not hard to figure out why. A child would know.

I love your idea, I think it is great. However, the very basis of Islam will not allow that, because Islam doesn't respect or recognize any other religion.

Thanks for that....its ironic...we seem to be going the opposite direction of where we could be going. To a place that would love to see their religious laws acknowledged world wide.

its my opinion that no mosque is to be build in the whole of new york , a new one that is . there are allready to many.
especially with the historic attacks on new york by muslim terrorists over the past decades.

I know Obama wants to become like Europe , that is more leftist , socialist ect. but you have to realise that with that islam will come to because if you want to become like Europe you have to kneel before islam and build your hole country full of mosques and let as many immigrants from nation like turkey , marroco and iran into your mids just as we in the Netherlands and all other countries have.

Why do you think that Geert Wilders gets so much votes this past election in holland and why do americans think why the EDL in UK is getting so big and powerfull .. people here are fed up and that is why things are brewing up.. it doesn't have to take much or a civil war breakes out in Europe.
I know that if muslim terrorist try something here like bombing or trying to kill geert wilders all hell will break lose and yet again mosques will burn like in the days when theo van gogh was slaughtert in the streets of amsterdam.

If mosques are going to be build around ground zero that would be a victory for islam.. it just like building a mege church in mekka or building a statue of adolf hitler as big as the statue of liberty in New york in camp auschwitz
