Have you looked at a map of Alaska? It is a huge frozen wasteland. The Valdez spill compared to the size of Alaska is like an atom to a block of cheese.

Off course the oil is still there because of the LOW TEMPERATURE.It is essentially frozen. So what if it still there?

Hardly anyone stays there except people who are too jaded to live in normal places and need "adventure".Then they whine about it because of a little oil on some isolated beach.Alaska is mostly empty, can they not move away from it?

I mean one patch of frozen ice looks pretty much like another.

What is the big deal about beaches anyway? I mean it is just some sand with a giant puddle of sewage water nearby.People go there to cavort about semi-naked and display their mounds of flesh and ogle each other.

People seem to revere the beach like some kind of Nirvana. You could do the same in your back garden or swimming pool and be much safer.

Time for you to zip up, you've exposed your ignorance. My brother lives in Alaska and is career Air Force fighting the good fight of this war on terror you claim is so much more important than the oil gusher. Make up your mind. Should the Air Force base pack it in because Alaska is just a hunk of ice that doesn't matter?

That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Are terrorists trying to steal the ice or blow it up?

Wakey! wakey! Everyone knows terrorists come from the Middle East.

What in God's name is your brother doing in the wastelands of Alaska?

Did he take a wrong turn on his Sat Nav?

Fighting terrorists in Alaska!

I think you need to phone him and tell him he is in the wrong hemisphere and send him an air ticket to the Middle East pronto.

I mean I have heard some people being bad with maps but this is ridiculous...

Okay, I have a very simple question for you nobodysavedme. It might seem a little strange, but it's important... ready? Here it is...

You are in a swimming pool. There's a first grader about 15 feet from you. You see the water around him turn bright blue because he just peed in it.

Now, are you going to stay in the pool, or are you going to get out until it's cleaned?

[edit on 17-7-2010 by Legion2112]

Urine has no effect on people. It is just a mixture of weak ammonia and various salts. Some people actually drink it for medicinal reasons.

Also when YOU have been in ANY swimming pool I guarantee it has been peed in by someone or other.

Urine is not blue.

"You said you live in Montana. If you took all the oil and spread it evenly over Montana, it would be about 14,000 feet thick. Still think it's no big deal"

I don't believe those figures are accurate and the figure of Montana being at the bottom of oil 14000 feet is fantasy. You have made an error.

I suggest you re-do your calculation.

We should adopt a laid back policy of do nothing and you will find it is the best policy.

Any system which is disturbed will attain a new equilibrium and this effect percolates through society too.

Some people have lost jobs but they will move away and find other jobs.In due course it will all recover.

In a historical context nothing will happen. We will still be here tomorrow.

Remember a billion planets exist out there all waiting for us to arrive. We should increase research funding into advanced space travel as quite a number of theories exist in which rapid travel is possible.

In my estimation this will happen within 30 years.A number of theories are expected to converge to a practical advanced capability of traveling without moving.

Once we have this advanced capability we can ditch this planet and move on to a billion other planets. We could expand and colonize the Galaxy and every single American could have their own planet or Solar System.

That would be the Ultimate Luxury. No more annoying neighbours.

We could all be Kings.

Look closer to home.

It was Transocean, a American company which has evaded $2 billion tax by moving it's head office every year.

www.guardian.co.uk...

Deepwater Horizon alarms were switched off 'to help workers sleep'

Alarms and safety mechanisms on gulf disaster oil rig were disabled, chief technician at Transocean reveals.

The evidence of deliberate dilution of the rig's safety mechanisms is likely to have wide ramifications for BP and Transocean, the world's largest offshore drilling company. It switches the spotlight of blame away from BP and towards the subcontractor which took the decisions. Of the 126 crew on board the rig on 20 April, seven worked for BP and 79 for Transocean.

And here is the clincher:-

When he saw that the system had been bypassed, Williams protested to a Transocean supervisor, Mark Hay, who dismissed his concerns. Hay responded: "Damn thing been in bypass for five years. Matter of fact, the entire [Transocean] fleet runs them in bypass."

whoooa yipppeeeee ha haa haaaa!

giddy up dobbin.

Americans should learn take responsibility instead of blaming others and whining about it.

I have been proved right.

Totally vindicated.

It was ado about nothing.

i quote:-

The slick from BP Plc.'s blown-out Macondo well has shrunk to the point that cleanup vessels are having trouble finding skimmable oil, and tiny bacteria that thrive in the Gulf's warm waters may have neutralized much of the danger.

"The vast majority of the oil" -- about 75 percent of the 4.9 million barrels of oil spewed by the well -- has evaporated or otherwise been contained," according to a U.S. government study released on Wednesday.

uk.reuters.com...

Apologies will be accepted from all who attacked me with their hysterical media driven ignorance.

I don't know where you live, but if you are able to, you should come down here and visit the marshes and Barataria Bay. You will find oil there. I have seen it in person. The MSM is showing only what they want you to see. It may not affect you, but it sure as hell is affecting us. Not attacking you, just stating a fact.

Nice neener neener.

Can I just point out that you cannot measure the impact in less time that passed during the incident.

It will be years of misinformation and misdirection that lead us to a confused state.

AIDS, Exxon, SARS, 9/11, Iraq, The Gulf (just a few examples for you).

"ado about nothing" is news about celebrity gossip, race issues and current talk about marriage rights.

There is one race and no one life is greater than another.

I respect your opinion and hope you can broaden your view beyond, city, county, state, nation and continent to global.

Peace

I think your looking at the world through rose tinted glasses.

If you had one chance only to save either 1 white child or 1 black child who would YOU save?

Wow! That is some ignorant thinking. They are both human, which was my point about one race.

Let's try your logic elsewhere. Your iPod only plays one track at a time. Will it be rap or metal? Still music man.
