ShadowArcher, we have crossed swords before, but on this occasion I tip my hat to you for standing your ground in the face of what can only be described as a real reluctance to face reality from other posters.

I saw the same over Manchester around the same time, at first I thought they might be UFO's but my mum said they were sky lanterns. I have Chinese family so I just believed her tbh.

I spend alot of time in London in my wife's flat (we split our time between here and the boat) and she lives on the 12th floor of a block seemingly surrounded by chinese lantern enthusiasts. We see them all the time, mostly from pretty close range due to them being released near the base of the block and rising in the lee of the building. The flickering and colour in the first video you posted is exactly what I see at least once a week.
Watching them sail off into the distance I can totally understand how you could mistake them for UFOs.
As for there being no wind. That was at ground level. 100 feet off the ground it is very, very rare for the air to be still. I know, that is how high I am right now. I would estimate a 5 knot wind is pushing those buggers along. Barely noticeable even if it were blowing like that at ground level.
I'm not a skeptic, by the way. I saw a triangle UFO near Brogborough, Bedford in the mid nineties and I will never forget it. I firmly believe you have chinese lanterns here though. They have reached epidemic proportions in the London area.
