My husband works in a company with hundreds of people each day, and he has stated that the level of apathy there is through the roof.

Everyone wants this to go away. Most people just want to stop talking about it or hearing about it. They believe that this isn't THAT big of a deal, and that eventually life will just get back to normal and we all will be okay.

This is going to change everything..... and I worry about the future of our children while the people of this nation sit back and let big brother handle everything for them.

I must agree that people are being lulled back into apathy by the length of time this is going on. I just happen to be speaking with my Apt. Manager yesterday and I was saying that it appears that some effects from the GOM has created some toxic rain issues here in Dallas. Her eyes glazed over and she began to look at me like I was talking in Latin (Which I studied for 6 years).

Most of my other friends and family outside of the 5 Gulf states are back to Biz as usual and have no clue about whats really happening, even though I send them important info. I feel like I'm in the Twlight Zone!!! Sad.

Thank God for ATS and all of us who stay engaged on this issue.

those are just the normal reactions of people who have been putting up with your ideas and thoughts for a while and classing it as weirdly interesting...after a while they lose interest and they just wish you would stop talking about this stuff..ive experienced it myself..doesnt bother me though..i know theres more truth to a lot of conspiracies than most people will acknowledge...and if i bore them then fine...im sure they will find someone who will gladly talk about stars on ice with them for hours...they NEVER bore of that...

Just checking in quickly for the morning, I see things are as crazy today as yesterday.

From the video of the retired guy who talked about the 48 hour process, I assumed the results were going to take at least that full ammount of time and probably much longer in reality if ever to resolve or slow down.

Now there are two distinct sides here and I wish I could know which side is right?

Are we in danger or is this just going to be the biggest ecological disaster ever in recorded history?

I just checked the live feed on the multiple feed page and only the first four are operational. There are currently no feeds showing the actual oil. Two are on guages and the other two don't really show anything.

So does that mean the ROV is down or that they are keeping the ROV clips from the public eye?

this link from page 6 is working..but what i cant grasp is why its possible to move the time handle backwards and forwards..if this is a live feed how is that possible?

You must have an older browser or an older WMP plugin for that Browser. As you can see via the timestamp in the video, you aren't actually changing time.

EDIT: Now if you can provide a screencap showing the time as 5 minutes ahead of the current time, I'm sure conspiracy nuts will love that.

I'm no expert, but everything I have read from geologist's around the world say a nuke is not even and option.

The real experts say if a nuke were detonated it would cause fissure all over the gulf, and only temporarily seal the leak. The reason is a nuke only creates a glass sphere to seal the leak, but due to tremendous pressures it would fail quickly leaving a larger whole than the original.

Plenty of sources and threads already on ATS.

Nuke's are a fool's option.

Is it still true that, as they have been saying for weeks, even if this cap is successful, a permanent fix still won't come until the relief wells are completed?

That well was so hastily built with too many shortcuts. The moment they shut off the last valve all the pipe will come shooting out like Mother earth popping a zit.

Re the apathy, even though I am concerned and want to stay informed, I can feel that come over me. Perhaps not so much apathy, but I can definitely feel the strategy working: Provide conficting information, make statements that really say nothing, and give contradictory information, this diffuses the emotional response and eventually leads to a feeling of resignation, powerlessness and disconnect.

It seems to me that the MAIN issue is actually the SECRECY. That is where the focus should be - on tearing down the wall of secrecy. As long as we all focus on the garbage news or non-news about it, as long as we get caught up in the fear they are promoting by not giving specific and reliable information and allowing all sorts of rumours and theories to circulate, we AREN'T focusing on the core of the problem - the SECRECY. The secrecy which is NOT in the national interest, the secrecy which is NOT constitutional, the secrecy which is a gross infringement of human rights and civil liberties.

Tear down the wall of secrecy and all sorts of relevant responses and relevant actions can take place.

Everything that is happening is happening just the way they want it and they are orchestrating it. The secrecy is the wall behind which they abuse the people and commit all sorts of devious, underhand dealings and crimes.

It is outrageous and that's where I am going to focus my attention from now on

There should be a national and global outcry against this secrecy, because the potential consequences of what they are up to could impact a large part of the world, if not all of it.

The oil has been spewing all night. Yes it has stopped spewing from the central pipe, but it has been spewing from a secondary pipe all night. It was never shut off and still isn't as seen here:

As soon as it stopped coming out of the center pipe, they started to spray a dispersant onto the oil spewing from the other pipe(s) as I detailed in this thread: BP now spraying a dispersant onto oil spewing from Gulf of Mexico well?

yes..but there was just a pipe that was bent 90° waving around with the 'oil' coming out of it...it wasnt the dispersant pipe...that was in the picture too at the same time..
