yes, i do know and realize all these things.
:shk:
more and more, lately, i am ashamed of my country. not my fellow citizens but our so-called leaders.
i am disappointed that we, the people, have not been vigilant as our founding fathers warned us to be.
i am obligated, presently, to remain in the land of my birth because i am the only caregiver my mom has and she is my #1 priority for the rest of her
life - and she won't even move across town much less across the national border and especially not overseas.
i am presently doing a few things to try to do my part to change this despicable situation, and it's on my mind almost all the time about what i can
do and how i can be the change i want to see in my country. everything i think of that i can do, or hear of someone else doing, i will do.
this state of mind has only just come to the forefront of my existence since the oil spill...it made me delve into some other things and frankly, i am
shocked. i already knew of our reputation abroad and also how we are backwards in so many things compared to other nations, but i didn't realize how
bad it really was, internally. i had other things in life keeping me occupied but now i have a new crusade.
i have always been proud to be an American but not because of the way things are now...but because of the noble truths and awesome efforts that were
made to bring this country into being. i see so much that is profound and forward thinking in the documents upon which the US was founded, and i
don't even fault the forefathers for not being able to live up to their own ideals.
after all ideals are just that, ideals. they were drafting a future for their fledgling nation, a future that has already arrived but is not in line
with their blueprint.
i have faith, and determination, that one day this land will be what it was conceived to be, in the hearts and minds of the men who founded it and
believed in the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
i also believe in altruism and being a good neighbor and non-violence and peace and living in harmony with our Mother Earth.
