Captain Pike...errr...I mean Yeahright - I'm sure your not the only one. I have watched most of the other series, but I'm sure that there are others who have only watched the original.

I dunno what this is about but I love it!

I've had my *'09* Chekov one for at least 3 days now though...

Love it, too!

I updated my avatar and sig after seeing the Star Trek theme today. But I can't access the page to upload my pic from this computer, so it only shows in my profile.

I really love Chekov. He's just too cute.

I wonder what's going on though...
I'm useless at speculation.

I just read back through the thread and laughed at whoever said "someone will find this thread in a few months time when the avatars are back to normal."
It's so very true.

The first and only Star Trek related clip I have seen turns out to be named on Youtube as the "Worst Fight Scene Ever". I remember laughing at the badness of the "battle" when I first saw it a few years back. I'll try find the link.

Well at least that sounds logical, you saw something, it was bad, and decided not to watch any more, I can understand that!

I can't understand yeahright, ziggy, or anyone else watching the original star trek and then never checking out at least one episode of a subsequent series, that's pretty amazing! The only one that I just couldn't stand to watch at all was the last one, Enterprise, that was awful writing, casting, and performing, though the sets and costumes were decent.

Star Trek: Enterprise

After a run of four seasons and 98 episodes, it was the first Star Trek series since the original Star Trek to have been cancelled by its network rather than finished by its producers
Canceled due to low ratings, I guess I wasn't the only one who didn't like it.

in trying to make this show dramatically different, which we are trying to do
Maybe a little too different?

DS9 varied from good to mediocre. The rest of the series were pretty good I thought, so you folks who haven't seen them, don't know what you're missing!

I like the avatars and I must admit I'm so sick of seeing the question "is "X" a sign of imminent disclosure?" that I hate to see it anymore, if it's asked seriously. But maybe if I ask jokingly, it's ok? Are all the mods' trekkie avatars a sign of imminent disclosure?

He is a cutie!

Oh, I have an idea about what the Star Trek theme might be in honor of. Just did a quick Google search and discovered that it's Patrick Stewart's birthday today. Happy Birthday to him!

Why don't the mods grow up some and graduate from kiddie stuff like 'Star Trek' to the more macho 'Avatar'?

They seem to be stuck in a time warp! Sheeesh!

Probably because I saw the original series when it was shown the first time. By the time the newer series' came out, I was otherwise occupied.

Never seen a episode of the Homicide series, or an episode of 24, or either of the Law & Order series, or JAG. I'm extremely backward when it comes to pop culture.

And before someone else says it *cough~Dr Love~cough*, other things.

Ahh well Ariel definitely got further in speculation than I did! Happy birthday to him, anyway.

And yeah, he is a cutie

LOL, yes, I am very well aware of that.

-grin-
-remembers the mantra ingrained in her mind from statistics classes-

Hehe, well, I did say might.

But, since the title of the thread asked what was up with it, just thought I'd look into whether anything did happen this week in Star Trek history that the theme might be honoring.

Of course, it could just be random.

But it is cool that this was done around the time of Patrick Stewart's birthday, coincidence or not
.

'Q' is a colonel in stargate, not sure what he is a colonel of, a nut perhaps?
anyway, just could not resist the pun.
Also, I prefer 'stargate' not too much weird stuff in it.

Closer. Sort of an ad hoc flash mob type thing that generated a life of its own. Or something.

I think you nailed it. Yeahright not really denying it would also seem to imply that you guessed it. I'd give you a star if I could. Good detective work.

It's fun. I think I'll keep my Kes pic and sig up for awhile. At least, once I can get to another computer and sort out the picture hosting thing.

Thanks!

It would be good to know for sure, so I hope they do eventually tell us if that's it or not. Or if any other guesses are correct.

Yeah you'll need to upload the image to ATS Media, then link from there. I'm not the avatar wiz by any means, as should be obvious by the old school analog B&W daguerreotype image I'm using. I think Mathew Brady took it.

Oh, you've got a good pic. Avatars don't have to be super fancy.

Hmm...sounds pretty easy to navigate. Now, if only this computer didn't block the media site! Ah, well. Shall attempt it later.
