Fidel Castro returns to TV with dire warning of nuclear conflict

I don't know what's more disturbing.

Castro coming out to blather his insane propaganda, or people here cheering on this dictator like he is some sort of hero. How sad. Perhaps it's just the doomsayers tho.. hoping beyond hope we'll all die in a fiery nuclear Armageddon. Gotta hold out hope somehow, that we'll enter a horrible war that will kill millions or billions, right?

Pathetic...

What does the landscape in Cuba have to do with Castro?

I just get tired of people who feel they must demonize the U.S. (why the hell they still live here, baffles me, for those that do), by making heroes of known killers, militants (fine.. call Castro a socialist militant, if you like), and terrorists. It makes me shake my head when people tout Bin Laden as if he were a freaking war hero with his anti American gibberish.

I've nothing against the people of Cuba. Nor Iran, or Iraq, or Afghanistan, or anywhere else on this planet. I have respect for any person who just want to live a good, decent life, and has no ill-intent for other humans.

I do have something against a nutcase "socialist" who overthrew his own country, and allied himself with Russia against the U.S.

I watched some of his speech online today. He sounded like a senile putz. I like how he said we increased our defense budget from something like "300,000 million to 563,000 million." Yeah, okay Castro. That would be 56.3 trillion dollars. And it wasn't the interpreter messing up because she translated everything fine (and fast) from the interviewer. Castro has just lost his marbles. If you take his word at face value, you will once again be disappointed like every other prediction on ATS that fails to come to pass.

another big difference i found ...

CNN :
One subject Castro did not mention during the hour-long appearance was Monday's release of political prisoners.

Al-Jazeera :
"[Castro] pointedly talked about the US administration increasing military spending, the US now spends more that all the other countries combined. So I think there is a real concern about war, we should take this I think at face value."

cnn line is not on aljazeera
aljazeera line is not on cnn

this is a just another proof that the media (CNN) is manipulated
hiding important statement
adding non-subject negative stupid statement
the release was confirm ... ? yes so why wanting to put more fire on it

conclusion :
by putting this statement about the prisoners concern on the cnn site
will make Castro speech uncredible to the eyes of the american public

they know Castro is trying to expose the usa government plans
thats why they wants to shut it down with propaganda tactics
since all the assinations attempt by the CIA didnt work in the past

I'm sure that 99% of Americans wouldn't even get the "563" part right. Also, this isn't an "ATS" prediction; this is a prediction from the former leader of Cuba, not some conspiracy nut living by himself with no contact to anybody. Unless the people around him are making him paranoid for some purpose, what he says has some validity with everything that has been going on around the world. Does that mean nuclear war will happen? Maybe not, but to this day, I'm shocked that we haven't went to war with Iran yet.

The AMERICAN GOVERNMENT are the known killers and absolutely they are terrorists.

The United States Government is absolutely the most vile, corrupt and purely evil organization on the planet Earth.

A government that would bomb their own people to create an excuse to get a foothold in the Middle-East. America pillage and plunder, rape kill and torture. That is all the US military has been doing while in Iraq and Afghanistan.... Oh and securing the oil and natural earth minerals of course.

Or maybe I'm wrong... they're looking for Osama Bin Laden. Found the guy yet?

Pathetic

___________________________________

For all those who look down on Cuba and Castro consider this:

IF:
A tiny third world island nation situated right below the worlds largest and only superpower who hates it, they have to import 60% of its food (95% of its own food production is organic and pesticide free) and has nothing to export except cigars and a little bit of nickel (from a single mine I believe) can give all its citizens: 100% FREE world-class Universal Healthcare, 100% Free education (right through university), has higher literacy rates than the US (I think, in any case they are good), has virtually the same life expectancy as Americans, can feed all its citizens, can send doctors all over the world, gives scholarships to anybody from a third-world country (and the US) -AND- influence to varying degrees, in particular, the greater part of all of Latin America (and elsewhere) in the face of a crippling and illegal blockade/embargo and other imperialistic aggression... (I could go on)

With all that in mind, has it ever occurred to any of you that - They must be doing something right!?

Seriously, learn to critically think.
"wah wah wah its a dictatorship"

If you do a little research, I'm sure you'll find that Cuba is more democratic than the US in alot of respects.

Alot of Americans need to get off their high horse.

Bentlys, Big Macs and Tramps aren't regarded as synonymous with freedom to all of humanity, though they are carrots for the weak and easily misled.

He is just sticking to a topic that he has experience in.

Which world would that be? I've yet to meet anyone who fears Chavez.

On the same note I don't know of many who feared Castro.

Why does a man have to be feared to be credible?

There will never be a man like Castro, for good or bad.
The saying "Dont hate me cause, you aint me" has weight behind this story.
Fidel Castro has connections we can only dream of having....

And to think America couldnt take him down...yep he's the man

castro always likes to yap his mouth off and make ambiguous claims... Like always he will make claims that "it is all the fault of Capitalism, and the imperialists in the north"...

Us Cubans are tired of listening to his ramblings, and in Cuba people are FORCED to listen to his ramblings... I have to wonder why people in other nations would turn on their tvs, or read more crap from that asshole...

If castro knows something about some nuclear war it could be the Iranian goverment who will start the nuclear war.

After all, in order for the Madhi to make his appearance the world has to be in chaos and at war, and Ahmadismessedupinthehead is a believer of the Madhi...

Perhaps the millions of Venezuelans who have been protesting for years against Chavez and his take over?....

Tell that to the tens of thousands of Cubans that were murdered by orders of castro...

Tell that to the tens of thousands of Cubans who were sent to prisons for speaking about liberty or for trying to fight in one way or another against castro the tyrant and his tyrannical regime...

Tell that to the millions of Cubans who who are suffering because of the restrictions/rationing set up by the castro regime...

Now I know one more person who is very ignorant of the actions of both castro and Chavez....

Still NO TRANSCRIPT OF HIS ENTIRE TV SPEECH/INTERVIEW AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH that I can find. All English language (MSM) coverage that I have found thus far appears to be highly edited. Is there anyone here able to do the transcript, or point us to a Latin news outlet that has done that?

Until I read the full transcript, I will not be in a position to make any balanced assessment on what he is saying. Personally I think nobody should be posting critical comments about this until we have read what he has to say in full, that is if you are big enough to handle free speech?

Upper class Cubans my behind... the only upper class Cubans that exist now are the high Communist elites....

My grandfather was a farmer, as was most of my family back in the day, castro took most of my grandfather's lands for the state...

My family was never rich, and most Cubans are now poorer than dirt..

castro is a legend to ignorant people who have no idea of the history of Cuba...

I agree with what he said. But he and his gang IMO are still absolutely incompetent at managing anything let alone a country. His regime is nothing but a militaristic system of feudal aristocracy with revolutionary communism as disguise, just like any other communist country so far. He and his gang mates posses absolute rulership and power over the country only limited by their own imagination.

And let's not use "it's better than US" as an argument, because frankly it doesn't change the fact that its totally backwards. As for "who's right", for me only politician who makes any sense is Ron Paul, and Castro only makes some sense, while of course, I make the most
.

What has he actually said though, what did he say in this TV interview, in full?

I simply want to read it so that I can contextualise it against what I know of him, and the wider world, I don't necessarily want to get into a debate about Cuban politics. I just want the facts: What has he said?
