Seems since the Chinese Airport incident that yet again the greeen plasma line has been drawn yet again in the martian sand!!!

This is a light heart discussion to see which side of the fence you stand!

Are you with me on the Believer side ( All hail believers with our open but non closed mind)?

Or are you with the Closed side (All hail *debunkers with our closed minds)?

I HAIL THE BELIEVERS!!!!!

But were are you?

I am a believer, I have to believe that there is more to this world then what I know, and What Ive been told. I never stop asking the question why. Im naturally a curious person, but that doesnt mean I am so gullible that I believe everything..... I do have a mind, and I do know how to sit back and connect the dots, if the dots dont connect, Im missing information or it is complete bs.... Hail Believers!! Deny Ignorance!!

I believe, but we're yet to see proof.

I don't blindly believe though, I approach everything presented here with caution. Sadly more often than not something comes up that looks really good, only to turn out to be either misenterpreted or outright fraud.

Star for you too mate....

At least you believe there is more to the crap than meets the eye and have an open mind without debunking it without a second thought!

I used to be on the fence on the whole UFO issue intil me, my girlfriend, and my son I saw one in 2007. It wasn't a shiny disk in the sky or a bright orb, it was a huge, dark grey cigar like object that would blink in and out of sight. Pretty ominous looking really.

Before I saw one for myself, I had a slight interest in UFOs (like everyone else) but I never went to ATS or any other websites of its kind. After, well, here I am.

I understand why there are unyeilding skeptics saying "give me hard evidence or it does not exist" because if you look through whats on the net reguarding UFOs, its 99% trash.

"I saw her face, now I'm a believer. Not a trace of doubt it my mind."

I'm a fence riding skeptic.

While the Chinese airport incident was interesting, it's still not quite good enough for me to get off the fence.

It doesn't have to be an either or.

Nee problems with skeptics.... But debunkers can kiss my white slothy goonie forehead. No offence!

Skeptics don't have closed minds!

Just hearts

How about this.

Don't believe anything. But accept its possible.

Don't freak out because you want to know the truth, and don't separate yourself from others because of your beliefs. Wars get started that way.Big and small.

I don't like the words believer and skeptic but I guess we have to use them. Yes I am a "UFO believer", I have seen several UFOs and I am fairly familiar with the literature. But that doesn't tell me whether the China airport incident was legit. I doubt we will ever have enough information to know. I can't picture the Chinese government allowing that, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Why do you pose it as an either/or? In the "Chinese airport" thread the Believers did a lot of name calling but never showed a connection between the alleged photographs and the actual incident. Just because someone doesn't believe everything they are told doesn't make them a bad person. People need to think for themselves, using sound evidence.

Bad trolling attempt.

It seems you have a flawed premise.

Skeptics most certainly do have open minds. They simply require evidence.

"Believers", conversely, do NOT have open minds. They are unable to free themselves from their preconceived notions.

Exactly?

Are you allowed to be a believer and a debunker?

Or is that against the rules?

Debunkers and skeptics can be believers too. They just might not be believing a specific or a particular. In fact, I think it's pretty healthy if believers remain debunkers and skeptics too. And most probably do in their own minds at least.

But I know you're probably referring to a very small subset of people who set out to disrupt intentionally in any way they can.
I can't imagine there are too many people who totally discount the idea of extraterrestrial intelligent life, so the pool of true non-believing debunkers and skeptics has got to be relatively small?

Ok you make a valid point with the skeptic side and thus i will remove it from my thread............. But your second point is lame

No, my second point is dead-on accurate.

If you are a "believer", nothing will change your mind about your beliefs. No evidence, no skeptic, no debunker will sway your belief. That's as closed-minded as it gets.

Thank you for bringing this up - I was going to post something very similar to that but hesitated due to not wanting to be ripped to shreds.

I am curious about one thing though, why is there such tenacity to draw blood with individuals who, as roughly as I can put it, don't buy cereal without checking to see what the ingredients are first?

I mean in the long run, we're all human beings and we all make mistakes - somebody will call what 10 people believe is a UFO an airplane, but the ratio of agree to disagree automatically makes that person wrong by the standards I've seen put forth. If anybody pipes up to compliment that ratio in the favor of the disagrees, it's automatically assumed that person is a shill and in cahoots with the first disagree...and we end up wanting to kill each other (figuratively, hopefully).

Can't we all just just agree that alienating anyone in a forum about aliens is a bit absurd?

- Fry
