cryptome.org...

"Within the last few hours we have learned that WIKILEAKS (Assange) will commit no more time and effort into restoring our website www.__._

The website has been effectively down in terms of document submissions for many weeks, and as we speak there is no way for the general public or potential whistleblowers to upload documents to the site.

We have been told that WIKILEAKS will be launching a completely new site hosted in Iceland. However, Assange would not provide any time lines, or any indication of user options and facilities.

During the exchange, Assange also confirmed that no legal team had been provided to Manning, and no one from WIKILEAKS had met Manning during his detention in Kuwait. This was completely at odds with recent WIKILEAKS emails requesting $50,000 in donor funding for a legal team to fly to Kuwait.

Wikileaks Insider"

I can't find anywhere else reporting this yet so unsure of the credibility!

I really hope this isn't true.

well you know they showed us the way.

many websites have server space and forums and message boards.

if you are a whistleblower, post your evidence everywhere.

Fakebook, Myspace, ATS?.. haha Godlikeproductions.. wink..

If you want to expose wrong do it, don't rely on wikileaks. we are all listening.

i'm fast going off wiki and they seem to have turned into all talk and no action or they got paid off to not show the 250,000 documents they say they had.

Do tell me i'm wrong someone.

On a side note Iceland is going to be big in hosting web sites now obama wants to restrict access to the internet with a kill switch and is taking sites down and you can bet iceland will tell the DCMA to take a walk.

i'm still downloading 10GB of torrents a day and not a word said from my ISP.

Bearing in mind Cryptome.com has been championing Adrian Lamo I'm not sure what to think.

I don't think they would risk their credibility by publishing if it wasn't true though?

My avatar does sum up my feelings on this

"i told you so" comes to mind.

and wikileaks didnt pave the way for anybody...cryptome did over a decade ago.

and the only reason it came and went so fast is because of LurkerMans diligence and ability to see throw government fronts.

they've been made. shows over.

Iceland's population has recently taken a strong stance on supporting the social value of whistle-blowing and they have committed to a new culture in government that will protect such efforts.

It stands to reason that Assange might be inclined to seek a safe harbor in which to operate; one that at least seems to be sincerely committed against the oppression that whistle-blowers have endured for decades.

gawker.com...

First when wikileaks appeared i remember a list of donors "leaking" among others there was an email address that belonged to Lamo , or the homeless hacker. It was something that impressed me, but something i wouldn't have done as i was in doubts over the legitimacy of wikileaks.

For someone who donated them at the begining now to be in a so called war with them...i find it hard to believe

leaks and counter leaks...

Still nothing from Wikileaks confirming or denying the closure

Nothing from the MSM either but no surprise there!

Sounds like someone was threatened or paid off to go into the dark once again. This is very sad

As far as I am concerned, wikileaks has done great work in presenting whistleblowers documents in the past, and the last video was definitely something the Cabal did not want to be made public.

The Cabal has every reason to want to discredit him, so I am definitely going to give him the benefit of the doubt at this stage and reserve my judgement and wait until I hear from Assange himself.

If he has got a mountain of leaked documents there will be a mountain of work to do to verify them as best he can before they are published, and no doubt lots of legal advice to go into. And also to make sure he is somewhere safe.

I urge everyone to hold their judgement. Slander and defamation of those who are a threat is the game of the Nazis.

Let's wait and see.

Hopefully the new website Assange is setting up based in Iceland will prove all the doubters wrong.

I'm guessing he is trying to protect all whistleblowers by doing this, a lot of people will have been put off by the Manning arrest. The additional protection Iceland should offer may coax more people to come forward.

I could be totally wrong of course but I don't want to give up on them just yet.

Yeah as I've said before it's great and noble. However isn't it bit convinient that this sort of 'safe heaven' would be in the one place in the world where whistleblowers would be the easiest to kidnap? If someone very high profile were to seek asylum there and were a threat to any nations intelligence they'd be easy to extradite.

Thank god that 'buzzword' isn't being used anymore... Oh damn it, I can't even remember what it was now... What was it?

OOOOH, I remember...CABLES! Yes, we needed to see the cables! It was cables this, cables that. If I had seen the word 'cables' in this thread I would have left ATS forever.

On topic though, I find all this very interesting because there are some people who never trusted Wikileaks and there are some who idolised it.

I was on the fence to be honest but I did find the Apache video shocking and would be surprised if it had been released by TPTB.

However, who knows the extent of the mind games that they play...
