You're spot on correct Rams...and on that note I'm surprised at how many stars and flags you've gotten (I'll be giving you some too.)

This site is really good for bringing stories and ideas to my attention that I might not see otherwise; so obviously I like that part.

But the fear-mongering that goes on here is rampant and despicable. It seems like well articulated, thoughtful posts are often relegated to obscurity on these boards, but asinine ramblings like "PROOF of the end of the WORLD on..."and just insert a date because the apocalypse is always coming, it is always just around the corner, it'll be here tomorrow but it never comes. That's but one example of something that might get a 100+ stars and flags around here.

Deny Ignorance people, seriously! The world will end one day, perhaps in our generation but no one has any proof of such things and those who claim to are most probably liars, fear mongers or idiots.

Edit to say: I really like this one "RELIEF WELLS NEAR COMPLETION in the face of Methane/Oil SUPER ARMAGEDDON"

Nah. A Super Armageddon is just like a regular Armageddon, only with 42.6% more panic and suffering.

...I'd probably prefer the dying twice idea.

Information is information. If you become fearful, that is your problem. When someone tells me I am in danger, I like to think that I am charged with vigor and tenacity. I hear this fear nonsense all the time. Fear is a natural part of life. If you don't move past it, it will confront you to the point of madness. When hearing things like swine flu reports, instead of getting scared, take it as a knife would take a wet stone. The world is a wetstone and your mind is the knife. You can either shrink away from a challenge or embrace it as a chance to grow.

I feel sorry for the OP but I don't feel his reasons for finishing his life @ ATS are adequate. As others have posted, there is clearly visible threads that report AGAINST 2012, Aliens, Nibiru, etc.

Also, there is more to ATS than doomsday theories.

This site hosts a LARGE number of forums that deal with MANY areas of conspiracies, unreported claims, and more.

Just because he/she chooses to read nothing but the negative thread does not make ATS a "Scary" place to be...

I for one, read each post with transparency... because I know there are loonies out there... amatuers, and fakers... the key is reading what's infront of you... and making a judgement call for yourself.

I agree that some predictions have been wrong.

Some were likely disinfo to keep ppl full of fear.

It is hard but try to get past the fear and act on your concerns.

Do what you can to prepare you and your family thru the
common survival means.

Certain events like nuclear war, a comet or asteroid, or
super volcano, or Cumbre Vieja are going to be VERY hard to survive.

So you have to draw a line how much you want to prepare.

As for things like the Georgia Guidestones they are real and
I do not know when they plan to implement it.

Someone shelled out $50,000 for them with a GAIA religion
cadence to their new 10 commandments.

They do mention mass sterilization in john holdren's co-author
booked Ecoscience so it is not a farce.

In the Mims-Pianka controversy he did get a standing ovation
for calling for genocide of 90% of the earth via a bioweapon.

These are not predictions, they are fact and really happened.

Evil is not a fabrication if you pick up a history book, evil
is just not wanting to show itself clearly as it has been
squashed hard several times in the last century.

When you feel fear it comes from within because you do not
know how to deal with the situation and feel peril.

You will feel fear every time your in traffic and almost get
in an accident, you will feel it when you almost fall off your roof.

Fear it is part of life, but turn it into action to survive.

I don't understand why people are afraid of what is being discussed on this website. I understand having a concern about what is going on in the world, but fear? If anything is learned from this website it is that we as people need to be prepared. Whether it is a terrorist attack, biological warfare, food shortages, government control, alien invasion, zombie outbreak, super volcano, oil rain, ect, ect.

The bottom line is to have a six month minimum supply of food for your family, weapons to protect your family, a plan in place if things go sour in the world, and some emergency supplies such as flashlights, batteries, shortwave radio and other common sense stuff.

I am surprised you do not believe in Bilderberg, CFR, The Club of Rome,
and the Trilateral commission.

Many have shown their meetings on video.

Many have admitted to attending in public.

They use the phrase a "New World Order" often and HG wells wrote
a book almost 100 years ago saying how this would come to pass.

Others have written books covering it decades ago as well.

Even Lou Dobbs believed in it before they kicked him off the air.

Not that Lou dobbs should be a universal litmus test, but there
is a lot of evidence out there.

The MSM has been pumping fear non stop for years and it is a
method of control.

OP, I agree.

When I first started visiting here, I actually got worked up over some of the threads... I warned friends and stocked a little ammo, drinking water kit and other survival things and then after the suggested dates came and went with no incidents I started to feel a little silly. The more I thought about it, I really really began to feel silly. I can't believe that I was so gullible.

I learned a valuable lesson that while it never hurts to be prepared, use common sense and be rational about it.

I think there is a part in all of us that wants there to be something more to life than what we see at face value. I think there is a sadistic side to all of us that wants to believe there is some great cataclysmic event looming. Maybe it's the idea of being relived from all this responsibility and daily grind? Maybe it's like a bad car wreck - it is tragic and we wouldn't wish it on someone but it is also entertaining in a way...we can't help but gawk. I don't know why we think like we do but it is easy to get caught up in some of these doom and gloom threads.. especially when they have "Credible Sources" and present them well.

After you are around here for a while you have to learn to take the content with a grain of salt. Seriously, what percentage of the dooms day predictions on here have come true? What is worse, the posters of all these doom and gloom threads have no shame or repercussion for posting that garbage that never comes true.


- I also agree with another poster a couple pages back on the 20-30% relevancy of content. Actually that 20% might be too generous.

I am pretty open minded but sheeeeesh where do some of these people come from? There is a fair amount of post that sound like the OP's had either been dropped on their heads, have done waaayyy too many psychedelics or just need to go back on their meds....

At first, it makes for a good entertaining read / some good laughs, only problem is after awhile it starts to get repetitive and it really waters down the legitimate content AND MY IGNORE BUTTON IS NOT WORKING. - What is up with that?

Lastly, There are way too many pissing matches between over-opinionated-internet-tough-guys and people full of hate on here that are fighting just for the sake of fighting. Yeah, the whole point of this site is discuss things and share your opinions but when you personally attack and intentionally insult the other person - your not going to change their mind - you are just causing strife and negativity.

I have found with this website to keep everything on a grain of sand. I do remember the great swine flu scare of 2009. Though it luckily got a lot of press and nothing happened, for a while I think we were all expecting something.

But I have found that a lot of predictions have been made, and, though you may not know the source of the prediction (or the predictor's source), I say, just mark your calendar for the ones you are concerned about and just keep awares around that time. If nothing happens, the date may have passed and you didn't even notice until you change your calendar's month to the next month and see that one date that so and so made about a horrible terrorist attack. I will say that, of predictions, almost none of the crazy one's have actually come about.

I get freaked out sometimes and I won't lie the whole blackjack thing had me freaked! I know one day something on here will come true but right now I just read it and take it with a grain of salt, nothing is set in stone.

There is no real hard evidence about Aliens or Governments, that's why
there are Conspiracies. And without any real evidence you can not
prove anything. It's very difficult to disprove something exists when
there is no proof that something exists in the first place.

And with the Internet it is so easy manufacture your own evidence and
create your own personal conspiracy. The more websites that pickup
your fake evidence, the more momentum it gathers. I submit Richard
Hoagland as Evidence....

Yeah there is fear in Isarel, but you think it's the TV? Maybe. It's a freaking war that as lasted for over 2000 years and it's still going on. They fear suicidle people who explode randomly for there believe. They fear other humain with uniform that can act as imbecile with a kind of "power". Ya right your gonna go all "well it's there land etc" ... You are scared, you leave, you change country. You stay there you'r courageous(defending your rights ... stand ground or whatever). At what price ? Now that is something to fear.

I could give you the patriot act BS speach, that transforme fear into courage. But just like fear, it can render you "blind". Just like Mr. who claim ATS = Fear ... He will stop reading it because he fear ... Or he will stay, using courage and hard work as a motivation to find real truth behind all these thread. It's stimulating him, toward what action... how knows for now.

Maybe he will learn something about himself too ! Maybe that's what he fears.

In the end, what is to fear, on ATS or any where else in the wolrd ? Turning ugly, Losing a limb, dying ? In a funny way, FEAR is like beauty ... "it's in the eye of the beholder". Some people are born ugly, other born victime and other decide what they are or will be along the way.

I readed a very nice signature later on saying something like this : Dont fear what could damage your body, but fear what could damage your soul.

If ATS is not good for your soul, because it's a kind of food(good and bad) for your soul .... easy, just quit and wath a blank DVD.... or two.

You fear weapons, or people holding the weapon ? Believe me I get your point, I do think that sentimental values are used to manipulate people. But you have to notice-it in all it's futile form before claiming that it's done only
with fear. Fear is not a weapon, it's an ingrediant of the soul. Weather you lac of it or have to much of it, it's not good !

That's because ATS has turned into just another arm of the MSM an anti-conspiracy site if you will.... there are still some decent people left on this site but for the most part ATS doesn't stand for Above Top Secret anymore they just float MSM topics with an extra serving of doom... the real meaning of ATS these days is Americans Talking #!

whenever life is feeling great and I say to myself its just to good to be true, one simple visit to ATS and after reading a few posts I am all paranoid and depressed again

seriously, too much rubbish posts with people seeking attention, everyone knows someone on the inside, has inside information, knows the real story etc etc...

unfortunately I replied to one post of such rubbish and told them it was such, and what do you know the ATS mods gave me infraction points.

it seems if you have some made up mindtrip you are more entitled to influence the ATS members than a sane minded person.

sure somethings are not right, and somethings make you think, but some things posted here are completely made up and are devaluing the entire ATS community.

There should be a list of false prophecies and the members who post them imo.

Hmm while ATS does spread a lot of fear through prediction dates of disaster and such there is a very bright a positive side of ATS.

I think one has to ignore some of the fear mongering, it will drive you nuts. I remember I was so paranoid about the October 7th 2008 prediction I called up my parents to warn them about it. Of course nothing too big happened, yeah the DOW dropped 700 points but it wasn't the collosal collapse I was expecting.

Of course that is an example of how predictions can come true in a way. It was predicted the economy would be hurt significantly then and surprise surprise the DOW dropped 700 points. But of course the "October Surprise" never occurred, thank God.

You just got to do research and think very hard about what your beliefs are, how much faith you put in them, and the consequences of such beliefs. I suppose I'm a doom and gloomer about the economy but the way I see it is it's truth. I don't read and spread the bad economic news for the sake of being a downer but so something better and smarter can emerge, so our future is brighter.

I think that is why so many people get so enticed by the fear mongering because deep down we all want a change in our lives for the better and to have that change we think we must go through a period of hardship. A search of truth.

The truth is ATS is a great place to share all sorts of beliefs and ideas. A lot of ideas are accepted here that aren't accepted in the so called "real" world.
