Also notable that, as so very often is the case, none of these stormchasers saw anything at the time.

Actually, they might very well have seen it, but if it were a bird, there wouldn't be anything to comment on or even remember. It flew by and that was that.

No clue what it is, but I know what it is NOT.
Given the revelations in the past few pages (the history of the filmer), I'm likely to believe this is a hoax.

SquirrelNutz.....

Unfortunately, it's starting to look that way, in that Lamphere knew he'd filmed something prosaic, but misrepresented it as an "unknown" nevertheless.

Ziggystar.....

That's an excellent example of a bird that could have been claimed to be an "unknown".

I've posted what my initial thoughts were earlier on, that was that of something close to the camera, considering noone saw it with their eyes and the way it fades. If I could see any interaction with the cloud, or any other actual evidence other than this guys word, I would consider other possibilities though.

Curious and Concerned.....

Sorry.....I must have missed your earlier commentary.

And yes.....it does appear to be something close to the camera.

Please note my comments (above) regarding my thoughts pertaining to Lamphere subsequently hoaxing this.

Kind regards

Im a MOD and I tend to spend a lot of time analysizng photos/videos here.

ETA:
For clarification: I do not think im better than anyone or an all knowing moderator or right while everyone is wrong.

[ -July 2nd 2010 / greeneyedleo]

You're a mod ? Well thats bad news for ATS. Why even start a post saying ,,I'm a mod" ...
Honestly you're ignorant statements are a little insulting to users of this forum.

First of all you clearly are a debunker,...
]

I thought some of the same things you expressed, just not as abrasively as you have chosen to express them.

In defense of the mod in question…

Unless we have experience being a mod we are not always aware of all the things required of them in their mod duties.

We all offer different opinions on the presented evidence in all threads we visit, but this particular mod has demonstrated in the past an uncanny ability to supply ATSers with information regarding video and picture analysis.

We all have good days, and we all have bad days.

But when it comes to denying ignorance, or at least confronting it, it does require the skills of others who may have more specified skills other than offering an opinion on the matter at hand. I for one make adjustments to my opinion varying upon new information I may not have fully understood.
There is an apparent and obvious difference between an opinion or opinions verses the perspective someone can offer us concerning certain aspects of what skills they have to offer when speculating on what is in a video and what is not in a video.

Sometimes we must take on faith that a piece of information presented may be accurate, if we cannot refute it 100%. However, this does not mean we need to fall into a pattern of incorporating such knowledge as 100% fact.

There may be far more stupider things going on here in the ATS community than a mod offering their skills to weigh in on a thread topic…..

CASE & POINT:

WHO ON THIS THREAD WANTS TO ADMIT PUBLICLY THAT THEY ARE ONE OF THE MEMBERS WHO GAVE A STAR FOR SUCH A POST CONTIBUTION AS THIS:

NINETEEN STARS???

4 words = 19 stars???

Is this where the bar is these days on ATS?

Anyone care to explain why they thought such a contribution was worth such high praise?

Alpha_Blue,
I may or may not agree with you about some of the mods statements, but the mod is moderating amongst contributors who reward such 4 word posts with stars when they contributed little but a
joke as the first post that replied to the OP.

look throught some of the threads and actually see that this has become a disturbing trend on ATS. great posts a few pages into a thread do not get stars, but the first post that provides a smart ass snide belittling funny funny haha about it gets plenty of contributions.

sorry for the rant, back to topic....

Thanks,
ET

p.s. Don't make me a mod anytime soon. i like to post my opinion too much! PEACE!

Dumb people + people payed to ridicule and distort events to make people lost interest + people who think it was a good joke.

But people have been TV-programmed all their life to think there is no such thing as aliens, so its not their fault. Its considered "common sense" to disregard aliens as a possibility.

Like Ive said many times, people who go by probability will never see anything but birds and optical illusions in the sky. They will never see a UFO. Never ever. Occam's razor will shave any doubts clean off. So there is zero point in arguing with them, unless you are really bored and want a heated discussion where you can waste some time.

Same goes for skeptics. Dont attempt to tell a believer there is no such thing as aliens, unless you enjoy meaningless debates where nobody learns anything.

I've not seen the actually original video, but I have to say, i suspect it bares the faint hint of the aroma of the sea and piscean scent.

Just my two scents, but the guy comes across as a self publicist trying to carve out their own little niche in the media soirée surrounding UFOs. To even suggest this footage deserves more than a cursory mention on any show let alone a whole documentary does display a humungous self belief/totally out of control ego.

It's a blurry white light, and it's a tornado. As has been pointed out , the advanced guard of the Pleiadian republic will always claim it as their own, the"I don't care if it a disc baring the legend, made on Reticlae 5, knocks me off my push bike rams a red hot probe up my jacksie and brands my colon with the words "scientific experiment", will believe it is a bird or an insect.

That said, i have agree that no mod should ever use the phrase 1000% sure and the quotes about bird speed were unbelievably inaccurate. Now i know Greeneye does some sterling work and tries to keep a level head in the face of not only hoaxers but blind stupidity as well as sheer truculence . However, as a mod you undoubtedly opened yourself to accusations of bias by your original post. if you are a mod and you going to post *facts* check them umpteen times. in this case, it actually was a question on the TV programme *Smarter than a 10 year old*. The answer, pretty much, anyone in Europe would tell you, is either Swift or Swallow, in normal flight.

on another tack. Maybe it is time to update the old saying.." A picture paints a thousand words", to.... " A video launches a thousand posts"..

It would seem sadly that, one can have a truly fascinating case supported by the testimony of any number of unimpeachable witnesses and it will be run over and ignored in the mad rush for people to venture their opinions on an indistinct blur no a video. That, is a shame in my opinion.

Now this might be gorssly off topic as a video but it mgiht just break the rather entrenched state this thread has found itself in?

Hi everyone, this is my first post on ATS, so be gentle.

I've read through the thread, and it seems some people are weighing the "facts" presented in the video as legitimate and use it along with their analysis, while others are not.

But for us to stop this back and forth issue about it being a bird\insect or whatever, we should try to look at the footage at a common ground. So let's first focus on what WE know and what WE personally can observe, and that is we have to look at the footage independently from the supposed facts the cameraman supplies. And from what I can tell it's not possible to discern what this object really is from what the footage shows. We can only speculate as to what it might be, so I'm certain we will not get a definite answer this way.

So my point is that the footage will remain to be inconclusive and it will have to be substantiated from the alleged sources before we can move closer to a somewhat definite answer. And that it's not very productive to continue to speculate about the footage by itself.

Some amazing footage , it's very similar to this video here . You can see the object going by with amazing speed at 16 seconds.

I can attest to that. I took several pictures of/from a building rooftop a few weeks back (as part of my job) and when I later looked at the pictures, almost all of them had one or more pigeons flying past the camera. I remember taking the pictures, but I have no recollection that the pigeons were in frame...

...and that's because there is nothing out of the ordinary about a bird in the air, so there is no reason to specifically remember it.

Looking at those pictures I took made me immediately think about those people on ATS who offer up a "UFO" picture of what is probably just a bird. Those people usually say "It can't be a bird because I don't remember a bird flying past at the time".

Well, I didn't remember the birds while taking my pictures either, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.

absolutly amazing!!I am not a believer in ufo's (only cause I have not had an experience, but am openminded and want more than anything to witness something!!
What gets me is the speed. Even before you put up numbers you could plainly see .some major "MPH" and the depth because of the in & out of clouds.
This one has me truly baffled. At first I was like "OH its probably a bird"
But my friend because you seem very professional, and your creds are well documented I almost feel as though I've had an experience!!I still need to witness something myself, but thanks for the thread

there are two schools of thought concerning which species native to Oklahoma are capable of moving in such a way. although the experts may agrue adamantly that they are sure one way or the other which of the two options are most viable, be it penguin or osterich...
i'm going with penguin. definatly a penguin.

No less than 30ft long and 18ft thick traveling at speeds between 9-16 thousand mph. Thats one hell of a big insect/bird. That alone would be a new discovery.
I think I have to agree with the professionals from Marshall Space Flight Center, and not the typical ATS response.
