Stating everyone who uses oil in some way is guilty is unfair when there is no choice. Sure anyone would be able to live without oil either given enough funds or willpower to live outside of society. But if we'd all did that I don't think we would be better off and many would die making it an us or them situation, in which case I'm genetically programmed to choose the latter.

Humanity couldn't support the current number of people without oil, there would be food shortages, problems with medicine supplies, loss of business (thus livelihood).

Sure there is greed. But be honest; we've all contributed to this image of being succesful when you have a lot of money. People with fancy cars and expensive suits aren't boo'd at or treated negative in any way, the contrary is the case, they are applauded. This is because such people make those things the masses want possible. Kids are raised with such notions, we can't cry when they've grown up and turn out to be worse than the generation before them.

If society valued integrity and honesty more than making a lot of money, many problems we have today would not exist.

that's funny,

there is an excellent alternative for oil,
it can grow in your pot
or it can be planted on fields
you can make plastic from it
you can make fuel from it
you can make concrete from it
you can make medications from it
you can make food from it
you can make thousands of more products

and they are all biodegradable

it is called cannabis sativa

alas, most of you people are so unintelligent that sometimes I
really wish that something wipes you out from this
wonderful planet

something like methane ignition on planetary scale
or a tsunami (that I dreamed about last night)

sorry admins for the rant

It really saddens me when someone wishes for disasters like you have done.... there are certain people who need to be wiped off the map not all!!

You should be more specific on who would like to wiped off when you dream.... it's people like you who don't think before opening your mouth... you are most likely the person who go about with a gun shooting innocent people just because they were there....

Walk outside, have a look around you. Our ENTIRE western civilization is built by, runs on, lives breathes and eats oil.

We are the consuming drug addicts, BP and other oil companies are the drug dealers.

I just want you to look at it in this perspective along with your own, which I do agree with. Corners were cut, dangers overlooked, and what we have is potentially a cataclysmic event for all life. I believe this event will plunge us all off the cliff.

Its beyond words what has happened and may god help us all.

But I will say to you don't ride a high horse when it comes to this megalithic fu@k up.

We are all to blame.

While I agree with your premise, I must say the demand would not be where it is today had the WTO not engaged China and the US had not outsourced jobs to India and China. Furthermore, the two wars they are fighting cause tremendous demand for diesel and other oil products. Don't try to blame the consumer for the actions of a bunch of cheap-labor-conservative BP bigwigs.

What BP did was try to drill in an area that would produce the most oil from a single well. While I have no problem with that, I do have a problem with their disregard of safety warnings and drilling too fast. By not capping the well with kill mud, they disregard the most common practice for sealing a well. The list seems to grow each day with respect to BP's negligence.

TPTB have the solutions to our energy problems, but are just sitting on them. Believe me on this one.

I will post this video to my facebook.

I can barely watch the destruction anymore. I was a complete mess the other morning after viewing the baby dolphin dying as they frantically tried to rescue it. Couldn't stop crying through the day. My mother in law was saying "It's just a dolphin.... we will always have dolphins". The inlaws think I'm insane because I cry over these things. And I am shocked by how apathetic alot of people have become.

Very good writing BlackOps.

Most people have become like cattle, they either go blindly about their day, grateful TPTB haven't excreted on them and theirs yet or they are beyond even caring.

We, as a collective consciousness have allowed the STS souls to rule over us by our blindness and apathy towards each other.

This is the kind of world the majority of us have chose through our service to self compliance and this type of world will continue and get worse until enough of us get mad enough and some how put a stop to this insanity.

How much devastation, war, famine and unequality will it take?

When will the majority wake up?

Look at the posts here on ATS. I consider the average person here a little smarter - than the average person yet most are still blaming Obama, he's nothing but a puppet.

People need to look deeper, research - it's our governments that have been bought out at the expense of the common man.

It is no longer just America, it is now global, it is virtually all governments.

We're still arguing among ourselves over ufos, bigfood, secret societies, my god, your god, sexual prefence, race, etc.

This is how they keep us divided and conquered.

We can't even decide on who the real enemy is as they successfully remain nameless and faceless.

Some say Obama, some say corporations, some even say none human.

There was another post on ATS yesterday saying that until we, all of us, put aside our petty differences and stop allowing ourselves to be distracted and manipulated, we will continue to be herded like cattle onto the slaughterhouse truck.

The tricky part is it will require the majority of us together to wake up and take some kind of action together.

What most people don't realize is that truely what affects one of us affects all of us. If my brother is hungry, I am hungry. We are all that intimately connected, but most people don't understand or care enough to take action and so incidences, like the BP Leak (it's not a spill) will continue until we as one collective mind put a stop to this madness.

I have posted time and time again about the many injusticesses that have been allowed, only to be met with "I don't care", "so what", "that's just the way it is".

So stuff like BP will continue until we do care enough and the majority not just a few of us, ALL OF US put a stop to this madness.

TPTB are smart, they know how to keep us divided and distracted.

United we stand, divided we fall.

The me me me attitude must stop for what affects one of us affects all of us.

Until we figure out who the real culprits are, unite together as one collective and take action this frap will continue.

How much is enough?

Some dead animals... Most of you are not vegetarians, you eat meat nearly every day. So? How can you say "this poor animals", when you eat others? And come on, 1 billion humans needs food. This is more important. But there is a difference: You don't have pictures. You don't see how childrens hunger, so you don't care. This is normal. We all don't care about this, because its old stuff. And its sad. Anyway, there is more important stuff than this damn oil spill. The oil spill is new, the other sad storys not. When its over, it will be forgotten, and everyone on ATS will have other threads where he can say "All this makes me sad." You will close this thread, and do some other stuff. So you don't really care.
I will do this too. Don't misunderstand me: This is not a text written by a starry-eyed idealist. The point is: The oil spill is not the biggest thing on earth to care about. Good to know about it and good to make some investigations. But sadly, there is more sad stuff on earth.

I have created a simple facebook group to help spread the video by the woman in Louisiana, simply having a person join the group and inviting others to join the group could cause the information to go viral fast!

Hundreds of millions of people use facebook on a daily basis. It is the most used website and has surpassed google.

Here's the group page: www.facebook.com...

Please join the group then invite your friends to join as well.

This whole situation doesnt show how stupid BP was. It shows how pathetic humanity really is. People would rather destroy the ocean and eventually the entire #ing plannet for the almighty dollar. Thats what makes me sick to my stomach.

I disagree with you on that. The Average person needs an event like this to shake the sh!t out of them so they are aware just how these companies work.

Just like a slaughter house, everyone simply sees nicely cut steak. No one sees the stuff behind the scenes. And for all intents and purposes, what they are told, is done as humanely as possible.... Sure, in regulated and properly controlled places.

But the facts are, no one sits down and thinks about any problems associated with these events. Why? Because we're lead to believe these morons know what they're doing. And this PROVES that they do not.

So yes, in my opinion, this highlights exactly how pathetic and ignorant companies like BP are. Willing to stake an ecological disaster if the odds are that it would pay off. It didn't. WE have been watching this.

WE don't want to risk the entire planet. We are told it is ok, they are handling it. BULLSH!T! THats where the anger must lie. Not with humanity in general. Who do you think is out there now, saving as many of these animals as possible? Certainly aint the martians...

There is a new path we can take til we can get off oil.

We do not need to drill for it, we can grow it.

Algae oil via vertical hydroponics.

100,000 gal/per acre/year in the desert.

Mankind has brought untold suffering, havoc, and death on the natural world for thousands of years. He hunted the great mammoths to near extinction 10,000 years ago, stripped bare the Easter Islands, Deforested and polluted all the waters of Europe..., then came to to the US and stripped all their forests and killed nearly all their animals .., and now ruined the gulf and brought death and possible extinction to blue fin tuna, the brown pelican, turtles, untold death to the dolphins (of which most in the world live right in the gulf!).

This dosen't even begin to document our history, and I hate to say it, but we are like a swarm of locust, a virus and deadly parasite to other life on this planet. It needn't be that way, but we yet remain narcissists to the very core.

If there were a God, and we were being judged for our actions on this planet, we would be gone tomorrow! It makes me shameful to be part of the human race, but while I am one of them, I do my best to lesson my footprint and impact on the rest of nature. To those who say "booh hooh' to all of this, your very hearts, soul, and sensitivity are covered in oil tar!

Its time for a new spirituality to sweep the land which respects nature, demands sustainability, and honors our home and fellow passengers on this planet - away with religions which suggest domination and the plundering of this world for our hedonism. If not, we seal our fate, as nature is rising up as we speak to shake us off as a dog does fleas.

Look at it this way.

These animals are giving up their lives so you can go camping and
use Plastic Knives and Forks.

Are you prepared to eat with your fingers instead, I thought not.
I suppose you could always use chop sticks, no wait, damm you
tree huggers.

It all comes down to all the animals dying so that humans can live
the way we want to. It's not just BP or the Government to Blame,
It's everybody making and buying products made from Oil.

Well, you can count me within that group that also feels the same way. Humanity is destroying this planet with their selfish self-serving self-gratifying greed for wealth and excesses beyond necessity. If humanity is not willing to surrender to nature and her ways, unwilling to put an end to this industrial age of raping and pillaging the planet and every natural resource they can get their hands upon, simply for the sake of profit, fast cars, iToys, and so many many many more unnecessary things they think they need, I say nature should protect herself and wipe 89% of humanity off the face of the planet. And FAST!

Listen, I don't care what the impact might be to someone's job or career or pension or hoity toity lifestyle, I think the only way 7 billion humans could possibly survive AND preserve the planet for future generations is for everyone to go back to living in little log cabins on the prairie, something similar to an Amish lifestyle, and take up (manual) farming.

And in so far as my compassion for humanity at this point in time, let me ask you this that might think it evil of me to feel the way I do: Are you willing to give up your automobile and everything plastic and everything else that is not absolutely essential for survival on Earth? No? Well then, YOU have just condemned my children and grandchildren to a horrible future on Earth .. a polluted and trashed earth that has been deforested and mined and raped to death .. all because YOU just won't GIVE IT UP!

I gave up the pursuit of unnecessary crap 10 years ago when I decided I would rather live a modest minimal lifestyle, which also afforded me the ability to retire before I turned 40 year old. Instead of working until I turned 65 and could afford to sustain this hoity toity lifestyle of excess for maybe 10 more years if I lived long enough, I realized I could retire at 40 and make what I had last indefinitely if I lived modestly and conservatively. My only toys are my computer and my cameras and lenses. I don't own a sprawling castle in the burbs, no TV or home entertainment center, no pool in the back, no SUV and boat in the driveway, no lazy ass riding lawn mower, no iPhone or iPad, no vacations in the Bahamas, no bunch of other stuff. Now, to some that might sound like a deprived life, ha, but who's the working slave, in debt up to their eyeballs, without a dime saved for retirement .. and who is FREE and living guilty free (well, as guilt free as one can be right now), hum? I would never trade the life I have now for the life most everyone else is living and worrying about and trying to so desperately hold onto and maintain.

Seriously, I go to sleep praying that mother nature is capable of defending herself and will one day wipe all the excess loving planet trashing monkeys off the face of Earth that would destroy it all for their own self-serving selfish fun fun fun and thus depriving my descendants from ever hoping to enjoy this planet and all that nature has/had to offer us. 89% of humanity is out of control and insane and I pray something catastrophic happens to STOP THEM dead in their tracks before it's too late and we're ALL gone from the face of Earth.

Gawd, do you know that some humans adorn themselves with gold, or use it to protect their (so-called) wealth, not even realizing or caring about the ecological impact that gold mining is responsible for? Disgusting .. kick them people and their kind off this planet .. I hates such people that just don't give a damn and would doom my descendants to a horrible trashed in debt doomed world !!!!!!!

If humanity really cared (as apposed to offering mere lip service compassion for the ecology), they would just GIVE ALL THIS CRAP UP and begin living a simple modest minimal lifestyle.
