I guess that all of the efforts to stop devastating diseases like smallpox, polio, and guinea worm have been overlooked by you.

I guess the fact that many of the aforementioned diseases were brought to said countries by the imperialists is overlooked by you.

A smaller and smaller percentage of people own a greater and greater percentage of the worlds resources, but still our standard of living is better, yes here it is. For the other 5 billion or so things couldn't be worse.

There was a time you could go to a well in Nigeria and drink water not chemical poison. But wait they found oil and that's impossible now.

There was a time when people could grow there own food even if they were poor. Our subsidized grain ended that.

Its the old bait an switch they show em America an then say "that can be you" to people who earn barely enough to feed themselves.

See they can no longer sell that American dream here as people awake to the bs. So they pimp out our butts through war, taxes, disasters, charity while they continually rape the wealth of the planet.

Wanna know when the financial system crashes?
When theres nothing left to steal.

Just because the 21st century sounds futuristic and people behave differently now because of current technology does not mean we are heading for death and destruction.

Take away electricity - to include xbox, tv, computers and everything else that runs on it.

Take away gasoline - no trips to the grocery store or superwalmart.

Combine the 2 and run out of food - I heard on one of the gloom and doom tv shows that at any one time we are 9 days from total anarchy - that is the food supply that most people have on hand at home - 9 days.

Don't count out death and distruction if there are hungry people in the streets, even the highest respected citizen would turn into a savage to feed his family.

Edit to add no food in that store either.

I am not a long time member, but have been on the internets for some time looking for forms of truth.

I have to agree that there seems be a large number of mostly baseless fear mongering threads here lately. Please, it really is/was just an oil spill.

Have to also agree that it can get addicting, searching the net for the latest and new fangled threat to mankind or "our way of life. Along with the every day run of the mill conspiracy about TPTB.

I am not, nor do I plan to be prepared for any uber-disaster. Living near the gulf it is wise to have at least a good hurricane suvival kit. ( I did major in Emergency Administation after all, psychology and economics minors)

I am not so worried about EOTWAWKI events as I am in what will likely be a very difficult financial correction in the western world in the comming years. I truely hope that people will wake up and take some of the control back from the infamous TPTB, and end some of the profit at all cost mentality and the seperatism that seems to be ruling the world.

Of course, I am still predicting a heavy-heavy correction in the markets for this fall to anyone that will listen. I think that at that time any question of a double dip resession will be mute. More bail outs to those that don't deserve them to follow.

But, thats just me

Here is what I am prepared for:

A hideous and painful death when the world dies (I hope not, for both).

A peaceful death (I hope)

The coming of Jesus (I hope)

Nothingness - then I would not care.

But too many young people are too influenced by apocalypse movies and scenarios and are not connecting with each other.

If our young people do not connect on a face to face basis, the world is doomed anyway.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but why the heck would you HOPE for the coming of Jesus this means you are dead. I don't care how you read it etc. You physical body is still dead and I love my body I love this life. If may have its ups and its downs, but I love it.

Don't pull the you don't believe because I do, but this is not something I hope for. I love this thing called life. If it was ever taken from me(with my believing now and the reason I believe I know it will be a long time coming) I would be pissed.

Here is some science for you:
1. Magnetic pole reversals are not fast.
2. Physical pole shifts take millions of years and have not happened in 200Ma, except for a possible event 84Ma.
3. The Mayans have no predictions associated with the end of the Haab calendar.
4. Your comments about 'limited human body' are rather silly. They are unsubstantiated ideas you have no idea are correct or not including the existence of the soul.

You know whats sad. I have been saying this for like 2 years+ now its pretty much fact. Will I google you a source? Nope sorry.

Nobody would go to the shops if they couldn't travel by car? I dont know anybody who would rather sit at home and starve than walk half a mile up the road to the stores.

Agreed mate, people on these boards try turning nothing into something. If you go with some them you'll mind will be warped and you will suffer from paranoia, the believe katrina,haiti,9/11 and the oil spill are all conspiracies when infact it's just they have literally nothing going on in their lives or anything to look forward to so make up little fantasies in their heads.

While I don't believe there will be a massive "event" on 12/21/12, I certainly don't see the harm in preparing for emergencies.

Earthquates and a variety of earth catastrophes could occur at any time, as well as war or a terrorist attack. Times are uncertain. It pays to be prepared.

I do hope emergency rooms have the foresight to stock up on anti-anxiety medication before 12/20/12, as it won't surprise me if they have full waiting rooms of people having panic attacks.

Yikes! Looks like somebody's been reading too many conspiracies!
You poor thing! You are a nervous wreck!

Remember, you have to employ critical thinking when considering the beliefs of others. Otherwise, well, you could wind up living your life in fear. Which is a bad thing --- yes?

Being prepared for an emergency is a good idea. Violent storms and flooding are more common than earthquakes and terrorism. In some places fires can be a problem to consider.

My friends and I all have home evacuation plans. We go over them regularly and it can pay off. My friends had a fire and the two boys were at the designated tree meeting spot after exiting the house quickly.

Does it pay to be ready for the collapse of society, the complete downfall of our economic system, complete loss of the electrical network, or such overwhelming disasters? I don't believe so, but be ready for the types of emergencies that are more likely to occur.

How is the food going to get to the stores with no fuel to truck them in?

One of the worst case scenarios is no fuel = no trucks coming in. If you live in a city with no growing of food, I guess you are sol.

This would make no difference if a grocery store was right across the street.

I am holding that thought, that either nothing gets worse or it gets a lot better really soon. I can't stay down for long and have researched the worst of the ideas and keep in mind that there is a group that may wish to bring that in, and there may be difficulties ahead. But for civilians and children in wars, those in Haiti and Chili, and everyday, all over the world, the worse case scenarios have already happened. So we need to work for a better world.

I hope you're not implying that their vaccines loaded with additives we don't require such as mercury are a good thing and that this was done to improve our health. It truly wasn't.

I think you better go do a little reading and find out about the fraud committed by the doctor that cause the panic associated with vaccinations.
