After all the doom threads lately (and they have increased by 1000% it seems), it would appear that people are following this with the herd mentality. It's almost like they WANT these catastrophes to happen. These threads are always started under some premise like "get prepared for the end of society!!" and so on, etc. I'm starting to see these threads as more pornography than anything. Addicting and escapist behavior that removes one temporarily from the harsh reality, monotony, and boredom of real life.

I have one question:

Are YOU prepared mentally in case nothing happens? What will happen to ATS, to most of the members on here, when June 24th (day after Operation Blackjack), Oct 12th (day after ET_Man's prediction), and Dec 22nd 2012 comes and goes and nothing of note happens. What will YOU do? Will you be duped into the next doomsday date? Will you become disillusioned with anything to do with conspiracies? Will you even return to this website? Is that maybe what the plan was all along? Will you chase David Wilcock, web bot guys, and timewave zero people through the streets with sticks now that you have invested tens of thousands of dollars into survival gear and dehydrated foods for nothing? I personally know many people that are so emotionally invested into this EOTWAWKI scenario that i seriously fear for them if nothing happens.

I'm genuinely curious.

I think at this point it is inevitable for EOTWAWKI to happen.

Do you think we are not at a crossroads in our history?

Can we go on like this without the world as we know it ending?

It may not be in the form as people predict it, but I'm pretty sure we will see the EOTWAWKI in my lifetime.

Here is what I am prepared for:

A hideous and painful death when the world dies (I hope not, for both).

A peaceful death (I hope)

The coming of Jesus (I hope)

Nothingness - then I would not care.

But too many young people are too influenced by apocalypse movies and scenarios and are not connecting with each other.

If our young people do not connect on a face to face basis, the world is doomed anyway.

I am counting on living for quite a few more years, but whenever it is I do die, I am pretty darn sure that will be The End Of The World As I know It.

I agree, I use my life in the aiding of this.

But I understand the OP's frustration with the verbal-masturbation and negatively-connotative behavior that a sizable portion of ATS subscribes to.

Don't Deny Ignorance - Become Wise

I am personally only on ATS as recreation and discussion on alternative politics, culture and issues that can help promote alternatives to the crap we are stuck with at the mo' ...

Hi ghost, I hope you are not including me in that?

I think I made a few good points.

I think an equally valid question would be are you mentally prepared for if something does happen?

Jeah, and I think the OP has a point with people wanting this to happen.

I feel it myself, I'm tired of living this lie, and I almost welcome the EOTWAWKI, regardless of the consequences, it seems inevitable so let's get it over with.

Things will get much worse before they can get better.

If I die in the process, so be it, I wasn't planning on living forever anyways, at least not in my current physical form.

S+F for you my friend.
You know, I've been thinking the exact same thing lately. I see all these threads (eg about the oil spill) and the numerous ways in which it could mean the end of the world, and I honestly think people do want something to happen. To the point where it's almost a disappointment when a day goes past without anything really changing.

I understand the feeling, heck I've felt that way more than once - not about thinking the world would end, but wishing that 'something' would happen to make my day a little more interesting, like hoping there'll be a power cut at the office so you can have a day off. But people on ATS seem to have bigger ambitions than I do

Are YOU prepared mentally in case nothing happens?

Yep, I am. My life with hubby will be just as it was the day before the predicted 'end of the world'. Yeah the end of the world might happen in my lifetime or it might not (has to happen sometime) so it's nothing to get hung up about. Just try and enjoy your life, and if the end comes, at least you've had a good time. Spending each day worrying about it isn't gonna make it any easier or better.

They'll probably start looking for the next 'end of the world date', just like they do when a date they've predicted in the past comes and goes without so much as a whisper. Or, they'll find some dubious and tenuous link to something that did happen round about the time that was predicted, and go "hey, see I did predict something, it just wasn't exactly what I said it would be, but hey, it was something, right?" and then they'll appease themselves with the knowledge that they can make a difference.

Thank you for a wonderfully entertaining post OP, I can't wait to see the replies on this one

I don't know about the two previous ones stated, but if absolutely nothing happens in December of 2012 then I will be drinking,if not before?

I DO NOT want any SHTF, but i am making steps towards being more self sustainable in the event of it taking place. i understand your sentiment OP and i do feel like alot of others would like it to happen.

but on the other side of the coin if nothing does happen i think i will still be better off for the steps being taken to move towards sustainable independance from the grid. so basically either way i think its smart to try and plan ahead, even if the plans never need to be utilized...

forgive my spelling, amd thanks for the thread.

I have honestly had to leave ATS for a few days because of this, and when I do post, I have to overlook (very hard to do) the doom threads. They are so depressing! I am over it! If the "end of the world" does happen, I want to be happy when I leave, not depressed and wishing it for it all to end.

I make a wish every night before I go to bed (kind of like a prayer) that my husband and I will get to see our 50th anniversary. That, hopefully, may take care of my "Doom" fear. I read these threads, then look for someone to step in and refute it, but the thing is...the knowledgeable (no offense!) people, they do not want to waste their time debating this with people. And so it's all doom doom doom!
Ugh.
Let's get back to Aliens and ancient civilizations on the recent posts page! Not the BP icon threads!
I love conspiracies; not preaching and scary stuff! I would rather read the titles of NWO, Obama, 9/11 (did I actually say that?) threads instead of "omg we are all gonna die" Pages 1-122

And for all the ones saying "well, you dont have to read the threads", YOU try to overlook all of them on the recent posts page and tell me how that works out!

Again, no offense to anyone.

Me too

I haven't been a member of ATS very long (although I was reading stuff on it before I became a member) but lately it is hard to find good threads to read. I want to read about conspiracies, mysteries, something to get my teeth into, not doom and gloom.

I wish there was a way of hiding all the doomsday threads from the list so it would be easier for us to find the good stuff

I always keep my tinfoil hat and gas mask close by, because you never know when its about to go down.

Maybe chase David Wilcock through the streets.

As for the web bot guys, their work is some what interesting, maybe not all there as in not having their system working in perfect order. Maybe they could be more accurate if they allowed outside help with it.

Terence McKenna left us with a very interesting piece of work with timewave zero.

I don't come to this site for predictions, and I doubt the 18 million plus other people who come here or the people just looking in don't come here just for predictions. There is so much more interesting and bizarre things to read and look at here, predictions like with anything else in this field are mainly for entertainment, sure some will stake their lives on it, but that is their choice.

I hope nothing happens. That's what I am mentally most prepared for. If nothing happens it will filter out a lot of the lies we have been hearing lately and discredit certain people as well so that we can spot out the truth.

I think either 2013 will be a year of many truths.

For me personally,i feel that 'something' NEED'S to happen.
In a world of deception run by the rich, with so many people living in poverty and with fear, the time has come for change.

Now.Can we facilitate world-change on our own?No.
Could we together?Yes.

It has been recorded throughout history, that in the most dire of circumstances the human spirit pulls us through. We band together to fight opression,to fight for our freedom. We stand together.

The way i see it is that we are at a crossroads right now.We KNOW that we are being lied to,we KNOW that the way things are are utterly wrong and we want to change things.....but how?
In a world where the majority of people 'follow the herd',where we have forgotten to trust ourselves and our own judgement, choosing instead to listen to the advice of our controllers.
We are lost....searching.....hoping....for 'something'.

In the event that nothing major happens to facilitate change for the better(catching TPTB out with un-deniable proof, natural disasters etc) i would hope that ATS becomes a place where instead of waiting and watching,we become a community of human beings seeking and implementing change ourselves.

At the moment i see people like me,as another herd of sheep.
You've got the media-believing,soap-watching herd of sheep.....and then you have us.We are the 'we know the world is not right but, what can we do?' sheep.

Well,we CAN do something and, when(or if) we hit the 'nothing happens' scenario.....i believe that we at ATS will evolve. We will realise that the power was always within us to make the change and....we will.

That's my two penneth anyhoo

i honestly think that for those who are stable minded, and just freaked out by the scary world around us right now, will realize more and more every time a date comes and goes that nothing predicted will ever really happen and worrying about it on teh internetz is a "waste of time"
though i must say, its damn entertaining, is that bad??

then again, maybe there is a reason they have increased 1000%
but i guess one could argue its the lunatics ranting that caused the increase.
we shall see, i guess.

First of all, June 24th (day after Operation Blackjack), Oct 12th (day after ET_Man's prediction), and Dec 22nd 2012 are completely different things, the first two dates doesn’t mean anything on an universal scale.

“Dec 22nd 2012” is not a date but a process already happening and IMHO it means finding your true self by giving up the things you are not like (your) mind, body, religion, citizenship, name, memories, POV and so on. When this cleansing is complete you shall be ready to be born for the first time…

Yes, I am prepared. In fact, I am betting on it. I am 57 years old and I have heard the doom and gloom stuff since I can remember. It's all never come to pass. but if it does all come to pass, I am prepared. Because I am a human. And that is what we do: Survive.
