Hey everyone..

I just thought I'd drop in to share my two cents on the question at hand. I saw the title of the thread and thought - 'what a **** - he's bound to be just another wannabee supermember who enjoys bashing people's beliefs and whatnot.'

And then I read it.

And then I understood.

And lo, while I did not lose my own beliefs, I appreciated the perspective of others, and this made me feel happy.

I realised something anew - it's not about whether we (as believers in an eventual End Times scenario) are right or wrong (God let us be wrong); rather, it's a question of emphasis and focus as relating to our daily lives, actions and motivations.

Good thread - OP, I commend your honest and questioning approach to the determination of the psychological state of ATS'ers. I for one maintain that I hope the world continues onwards to a more enlightened and peaceful condition than it has ever previously experienced (unless of course you believe the legends of Atlantis and Lemuria etc, in which case it would be a return to former glories).

I enjoy living and have a lot to live for. I'm married with two kids, and I get scared for them when I see the way the PTB abuse this world. However, that's not to say I won't encourage them to seek their own path or that I'll indoctrinate them to expect the apocalypse. Getting all biblical on you for a moment, Jesus did say "...How terrible it will be for nursing mothers and parents of young children in those days" (when referring to the End of Days/ 'tribulation'). Notice he didn't say "for the children". My guess is that they would be granted some kind of spiritual/experiential anaesthetic if it were a true armageddon, but it really doesn't bear thinking about.

And there's a thought. Our Western minds cannot abide the thought of suffering children, yet forget at times that the world over children are suffering in horrific ways at this very moment.

So, the summary -

If there comes a point when the system collapses and we're all forced off grid (apart from those who think it's a good idea to submit to a totalitarian Demon-Ocracy) then you'll find me meditating on a mountain top somewhere in the Northern hemisphere.

...........

I've had enough of typing this for now - the thought of kids scavenging on rubbish dumps and being forced to earn their keep in brothels has made me feel quite ill, so I'll leave it there.

It's quite depressing thinking about the state of the world today - let alone the EOTWAWKI...

Change is not a bad thing.

It is only depressing if you think it is.

To use your own words, anyone believing in the made up malarkey by ETman is has no effin clue about reality. The dummies that took his fiction need to think for a change. Stop embarrassing yourself by acting like a patsy for every hoax that comes around the bend.

Here is some science for you:
1. Magnetic pole reversals are not fast.
2. Physical pole shifts take millions of years and have not happened in 200Ma, except for a possible event 84Ma.
3. The Mayans have no predictions associated with the end of the Haab calendar.
4. Your comments about 'limited human body' are rather silly. They are unsubstantiated ideas you have no idea are correct or not including the existence of the soul.

Fear not... The end of the world as we know it will come. It's not if, but when.

The thing is, nobody, and I mean nobody can put a date on it. Even if you could accurately put a date on disaster, it's not entirely certain that anyone would even notice. The societal effects of situation X may or may not be readily apparent at the time the poo actually makes contact with a fan blade.

Many times, it's not clear when some disaster actually started until weeks, months, sometimes even years afterward.

One thing is certain however, and that is that we're well on our way to a dark age. We're already on borrowed time. Think of it like unemployment. You lose your job, and you get by on unemployment benefits. Sooner or later, those benefits run out. If you're not willing or able to secure employment before they run out, you're kind of screwed. We're not actively "seeking employment" by making proactive changes to the societal deficiencies that are sinking our ship. And how could we? Those in a position to do so tirelessly reinforce the false idea that everything is a-ok.

So, I propose that it is a waste of time to prepare for a particular date. However, I think it's foolish not to prepare for the future in general, and all the possibilities that come along with it.

Why do you think we are heading for a dark age? i want evidence and dont say because there is a recession and natural disasters, the world was much worse in the 30's and 40's. The world has been a great place to live since the 50's.

Well that is hugely debatable.
Global greed corruption and the 21st century version of evil are far greater than back then..

Evidence?

If you want evidence that all is not right with the world, pick up a news paper.

If you want evidence that our society is headed towards collapse, pick up a history book.

None of this is new, it's all happened before, and it'll all happen again.

Just because the 21st century sounds futuristic and people behave differently now because of current technology does not mean we are heading for death and destruction.

I'll explain a bit more, the way i see it is people think "oh god its the year 2010 that's such a big number and it's just a decade into the new millenium!something big must happen soon". Sounds nuts i know but this is what alot of people think i know this and it's crazy.

Just continue to read the next dramatic episode but take it with a gain of salt as I always have. I personally predicted an earthquake at one time and didn't tell anyone - I regret that as lives and property were lost. Maybe if I had told people it could have saved a life or 2, who knows. If a person truly believes something will happen they should say so. At the same time I realize there are those that make things up to add to the drama, just the nature of people I suppose.

The point is that people are NOT behaving differently. People are behaving the same way they have all throughout history. This is why, sooner or later, our society will collapse, just as every other society and civilization at one point or another in the human past.

Really serious question, today the ATS servers slowed down quite a bit, and i don’t think there have ever been more than 1000 users online at the same time. Will the ATS servers handle 2012

With the obvious passing of "Operation Blackjack" several weeks ago without incident, and a visible end coming to the Gulf Oil spill, my interest in this topic persists. Thank you for everyone who has participated in this thread so far, i hope many more people will chime in.

I am reminded of when Lindsey Williams said that his super secret inside informant said the PTB will never cap the well because first of all it's impossible (70k psi pressure etc), second of all they need it to consolidate power. Hmmm...looking forward to his next interview on why it's already been capped.

I'm not saying there isn't something maybe we don't quite understand about the Mayan Calender, or life in general...i just don't think everything you see or hear of in the news is a NWO/Zionist population reducing conspiracy. Let's keep our minds open but keep the fearmongering to a minimum, that's all.

Are you prepared.. for NOTHING?

I don't think that even sounds right. Being prepared is something that everyone should do, and I don't think that a SHTF scenario is needed for either mental or physical preparedness. You should be prepared for anything at any time.

Of course doomsday predictions will come and go, but if you think that being prepared makes you vulnerable, think again, Its a leg up from everyone else. I rather be prepared for something, then not prepared for anything.

Peace to you...

Are you freaking kidding me?

What's your world consist of midlle-class an up America and Europe?

Because you just may have an arguement, possibly if that's "your" world.

Sadly the sustainably of that increased benefits for us have been the bane of pollution and destruction of other countries we like to call the third world.

You think places like Brazil Kyrgyzstan Indonesia Africa and China created the starvation hideous governments deforestation and pollution of fresh water that has billions upon billions living worse than EVER?

Or is all that okay with you cause you have your ipod?

Surely the majority of the world is much worse off from centalization and corporatism than at any other time in history.

And when the top 1% finishes consolidating their wealth even America will become a hell that will make Satan jealous.

You are living in an illusion Neo.

I am quite prepared for nothing to happen. Indeed, I expect nothing to happen. But I have food, water, and other stuff anyway. It can't hurt and will represent a small waste of money if nothing happens. It takes up a bit of space, so no big deal. I really hope I'm dead before anything happens, that way my heirs can deal with it any way they want to. I believe this is a prudent approach that does not give way to hysteria.
