You know, this is the first time I have heard/considered the possibility that the internet kill switch could be implemented in an effort to hide from WikiLeaks.

Does the spider destroy the whole web?
I have seen the spider suck the juices from the victim, then eject it from the web and repair the tear.
Have you ever wanted to know secrets? Have you ever wanted to know mysteries? Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall?
Internet kill switch is a code word. It does not literally mean what you think it does. It has nothing to do with the end of technology. Only the end of certain voices.

Or just "take out" the DNS servers which translate the www.whatever.com into the numberic IP address.
I believe there were only about 12 or so of these main servers. Simply crash them, block them, disable them, blow-them-up, or wreck other havoc on them.

The point is, they don't need to kill business and whatever else by shutting down the internet. If they really wanted to they could just target wikileaks as they have in the past. Don't try to turn my valid point into some kind of dumbed down logic.
