The progression of this thread makes me question the way the flagging system works. We have a "Flag Thread" option, but no "UN-Flag Thread".

We should be given the option of aging - saging threads here to show disapproval for utter nonsense. There's too much one-sidedness to the program and it allows for threads like this to outlive their shelf life (about 2 minutes by my careful scientific deduction). It should even be allowed to go into the negative digits... That way when the complete nutball crackpots post a thread, come back the next day and see negative stars and flags, maybe they will get the hint and stop posting here.

It's just a suggestion for recycling and taking out the garbage. Trying to keep ATS green, right? Someone gimme one of those cliche knuckebumps that are so popular with the young people.

72 also refers to The Tetragrammaton and the Seventy Two fold name of God in Gematria. How come you don't talk about that? A little too hard to twist that into your story, isn't it? Better to stick with the devils... Devils are evil and therefore the use of them makes it easier to manipulate and persuade people into believing this tripe. OMG GUYS BP IS DE DEBIL!!!!11!one

I also find it a bit humorous that you know of the Lesser Key of Solomon but didn't point that out, as it's pretty much the basis for it. You're a joke.

I hear what you are saying but I believe the problem lies in the agenda of some members. ATS has its share or regular trolls and disinfo pricks. You know it, I know it. The philosophy of "if we leave it alone maybe they will just go away" only works as far as that individual can perceive. So to take your idea a little bit further, maybe a way of labeling someone as said troll or disinfo agent or a more sophisticated screening process for members both initial and ongoing (if possible).

The self-education levels of many need to improve for further healthy and productive thread discussions. There is a search bar, top right. Any member worth his weight in logic would employ this valuable search bar for his or her intellectual pursuits. Sift through the BS, follow the links and cross reference material. Never believe something 'straight off the bat' because BS will run around the world a couple of times before the truth even has it's shoes on. That is my strategy to be confident in my opinions because I'm no philosopher or PhD, I design, hand craft, polish and install solid timber furniture and joinery.

Cant remember where I was going with this...
It don't matter, man. So f'n what? Dah na na na na naa *air guitar*
Thrash metal fans will understand? Any out there within earshot?

Cheers.

I think the only connection between BP and Wormwood is that BP probably has been hitting the Absinthe too much. Considering they don't seem too concerned about the state of things, I'd say the Green Fairy has a hand in this!

The aim was a fresh , natural look and feel [yes i know bum really] if you knew on a personal level the people who worked on the rebrand you would have no fear. They spent more time partying and clubbing and using up BPs expense account than hiding a warning.

Let me just say BP paid quite a few million for the rebrand and I got a great [holiday] work experience in San Fran.

BANANAMONTANA.....

Well.....

That shows there is nothing to this BP thing.

It seems to me that some of the conspiracy theorists promulgating this unfounded BP theory also need a good holiday.

Even more problematic is the sequence of events that proceed this in Revelation namely the 6th seal which precedes the trumpet judgments,

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. (rev 6:12-13)

We had some major earthquakes in Haiti and Chile but they don't really meet what the passage calls for, being a world wide event. For that reason I don't think this is really it. However, I do think the time is close at hand. Perhaps God is merely doing a little foreshadowing to wake some folks up?

Good lord. Baby Jesus in a little canoe. You sound like one of those obsessive Facebook users who demands the "unlike" button or the "hate" button . . . whichever you prefer.

But your right there should be a new system in place. . . . wait a minute before there was star contribution for ATS and BTS now there is flag contribution. . . . the pyramids are aligning to the stars once again!!! . . . nevermind.

I would fear such a democratic system. A fair voting system brings both the positive and negative into this world and right now there is far more negativity to shatter the far right paradigm.

Oh yeah and ATS needs bookmarks. I'm sick and tired of flipping through all these pages just to get back to the page I was on before.

Anyway I happen to own a big bag of wormwood. You can find it anywhere nowadays. Don't think I paid more than ten bucks. Stuff grows like a weed. There doesn't seem to be any of the flowers in it. Perhaps that is the trick.

If anyone knows where to get a bag of wormwood flowers. I want in.

yes , I am afraid it is quite dull, nice internet company as well, until it went belly up in the 2001 dot.com carnage.Got a great work experience.

That rebrand was a very dull time, with very dull designers , interesting reading though!

I am relatively new to ATS, and normally relegate myself to only reading; however, I was interested in this post and wanted to raise some questions.

At first, I thought "what an interesting point;" however, the more I read about the Wormwood provisions of The Bible's book of Revelations, and other references to Wormwood in The Bible, the less this post makes sense.

First, the passage in Revelations states: ""And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter."

This passage specifically references rivers and fountains of water. These are FRESH WATER sources, and not salt water. The seas and oceans were referenced throughout The Bible on many occasions, and if the writer meant "sea" or "ocean" then I believe those words would have been used.

Next, Wormwood is undeniably somehting, a star or other object, which "fell" from the heavens, and it burned like a lamp as it fell. While this does sound tantalizing in it's fiery similarity to burning oil, the oil disaster neither fell from the heavens or burned as it fell. In fact, the oil actually rose UP instead of falling, and any burning came as a quick explosion, rather than a light, "burning like a lamp" fell down to the earth.

The closest similarity may be in that when Wormwood "fell," whatever it may be, whether literal or symbolic, the "fall" itself is not what killed men or poisoned waters. The aftermath appears to bitter the waters and make them unpalatable to man.

While this may actually make one say "Yeah, that's the ticket!," it doesn't make sense. Man gets water to drink from palatable sources like rivers, aquifers, and lakes, and not from the sea. While we often create potable water from the sea, when we do, we clean it of impurities, and again, would clean the oil and pollutants from the water if we were to use actual polluted oil water from the Gulf (why is beyond me) to drink.

As an aside, one may look at the symbolism associated with the passage and try to make the passage "fit" with what is occuring in the Gulf with BP. While I don't make any specific objections to that, my personal opinion is that this specific scenario does not "fit" with BP's Gulf oil disaster.

BP's symbol has a passing similaroty to a star. It is round and has little diamonds around it....but so do flowers, designs, stars, and a dozen other broad, generalized shapes. It has a passing similarity to a flower, though it doesn't exactly look like a wormwood plant.

Respectfully,

Kyre

Sorry, just caught the thread and haven't read all of the posts yet, but felt compelled to add something as I've seen it time and again in the posts I have made it through... I think maybe we should consider, that if John of Patmos wrote something inspired by God, did he *see* it, or was it *spoken* to him?

I tend to think that the words were dictated, rather than seen. Looking to other passages within the book, 10 headed monsters, and whatnot, I'm thinking this isn't something he "saw"...

Actually kind of important to the question, in my mind, because if it is something that is spoken to him... wormwood is an oil producing flower. BP is an oil producing company with a flower for a logo... So, if a third of the sea life perishes from this spill (doubtful, imo) this would be quite interesting. Otherwise, it is a bit of an eerie coincidence, from my perspective.

There is another thread on the site that talks about the gas bubble thats forming. And talks about if this bubble should explode there would be a chance for a quake on the new madrid fault. If I'm correct the last time there was a big quake along that fault the mississippi flowed backwards.

If that would be so wouldn't that take the oil and water from the gulf up the misssissippi river. Would that not inturn also send that oil water mixture into rivers that feed into the mississippi?

When John was shown all this he believed that there was no other land except for what they knew of in those days. So perhaps 1/3 of the water and sea life in the United States is what he saw not in the whole world. Since he wouldn't of recognized the land mass that he saw. Maybe what we now consider to be 1/3 which would be as they say biblical porportions aren't as big as we've been taught to expect. Since we have blindly assumed John new just how big the world was as we do.
