It wasn't a couple of tents. There are more in the back, I didn't capture them all. There are more trucks too.

About 20-30 dark green camo colored trucks, and about 20 large tents. And I went by there again today, and saw about 13 guys with M-16s around their shoulders walking around in the open.

Talk to them! I promise they won't shoot you, as long as you walk directly up to them. Or go around to the gate and ask a guard. If they shoot you, I will apologize immediately and take great care of your wife!

As another poster stated, according to Mapquest, there is a Defense Fuel Supply Depot right next t to a park just west of the harbor. This is probably what you are seeing and there is a National Guard training exercise for their FTX going on, which is why they are armed. Case closed, IMO.

Edited to add: Good job on keeping your eyes open and staying vigilant.

I really would not panic, yet. Yes- I do not like seeing the USMilitary troops, doing "routine" drills, in our streets, either. Yes- I think it is part of a plan, to "desensitize" us, when we start seeing them EVERYWHERE.
I have a REAL PROBLEM, if those guards, had THEIR FINGERS ON THE TRIGGERS! You don't even do that in battle, EXCEPT WHEN YOU ARE SHOOTING! EVERY trained shooter knows- trigger finger=flat against side of gun. It doesn't take a fraction of a second, to put it on the trigger, from that position- and is umpteen-times safer.
If I lived there, I would do some "inconspiquous" sleuthing. Also, use a GOOD camera, to get some usable pix.
Those tankers, being painted BLACK, do offer some food for thought. Tar, is usually transported, in black tankers, to help keep it hot & liquid. Light volitiles (gasoline), are usually in SHINY tanks, to reflect as much infra-red as possible.
It does look like some military base. I saw what appeared to be guard towers. If so, then all bets are off- we are at war, with half the world.

The tankers are not BLACK. the camera made it appear that way. They are dark green camo, very dark.

And for clarification, most of the soldiers are just walking around with the rifles in their hand or around their shoulder. I only saw a couple which had their trigger finger near the trigger.(FLAT)

The guard tower was always there I think. I dunno.

You're probably right. That's why I ask you guys instead of speculating.

Okay, just to update:

I passed by there and pulled over to the side of the road. I asked one of the guards hidden under the trees , "Hey is this a military base here"?

He said, "Nah, it was an old Navy Base turned into a fuel depot, we're just training"

I said "Oh okay, just wondering what was going on here"

His partner said something as I left, like some smart a**ed remark, but I just kept driving.

They weren't too happy to see me.

So there you have it.

Dam! Can I still entertain your wife? Even though they didn't shoot you?

Nice going on pics, on stopping to ask, and on not jumping to any crazy conclusions! Nicely done thread all around!

Last friday I saw a huge 5 mile long convoy of all kinds of military trucks going North, also here in NM. Now I watched multiple convoys being brought in during the preparation for gulf war I, but of course they were going south towards Fort Bliss, not North, the ocean is south, so whether they were supposedly going to the war in the middle east or to the gulf, they should be going south, also south for the new border initiative, makes me wonder wtf?

I was wondering about those guys last week also. I had to work in that site last week, twice actually but the last time I was there so were they. I almost asked the guard at the guard shack why they had campers on site but I didnt. I do know they are running two 24" fuel pipes from there to a milatary fueling yard about 5 miles from there.

Those tankers could be full of something other than oil.

Who's paranoid?

Thank you very much for presenting your concern about what you saw and provided pics.

A moment slightly off topic, I mentioned my concern about the oil spill: what would happen if the once-filled area (cavern) holding oil would go empty. would it collapse? etc? Would it collapse and cause major earthquakes or tsunamis? My comment/concern seemed to be ignored.

Now, on your thread, I am just wondering if my guess could be right:
if there is a HUGE problem regarding our oil supply, could it be possible that armed forces are trying to protect those types of areas from attack------- attack from desperate civilians in dire need of fuel, trying to travel to a safer area and are/will be prevented in doing such?

Like I said in my previous post on the other thread, I do not post often unless I feel a very strong need to. My feelings are strong that they are or will be trying to protect the fuel from us, and they hold priority on the fuel usage.

thank you for being so brave in getting the pics, but thank you mostly for caring.

Thank you so much for your investigation and inquiry into this situation. i enjoyed following this thread and I'm glad you finally stopped to ask what was going on. id be a little on edge to if i saw military posted up somewhere i wasn't used to seeing them and I'm glad you were concerned enough to bring it to ATS

Thanks again

THat is a military base. You can see the gate on your video at :50 into it. The baseball field is on the base. I didn't bother reading past the initial post as it was so easy to evaluate. I have been in the USAF 16 years and have seen this alot. I call BS on your part for not knowing you live next to a base.

I suggest you set up the HD cam from your car and film yourself filming them up close with your cell cam.

Just in case...

I would be skeptical of anything you see in regard to troop movements in the states during the summer months... The National Guard loves to do train during these months in mass. No conspiracy here people...move along.

Just to add...

I am in an Infantry unit that is based in a little town. On the weekends when we have drill we'll routinely conduct patrols through the streets with full battle rattle, weapons with empty magazines.

And every time someone will stop and ask if we're under attack lol.

I'm sure this happens all over the country and when you get paranoid people seeing troops training in full battle rattle they jump to outrageous conclusions.

Simply SEEING troops around is NOT evidence of anything sinister. It is NORMAL MILITARY PROCEDURE for troops to be out and about and training. We are in TWO WARS and our troops are training for those wars.

Unless you actually see soldiers opening fire, dragging people out of houses, or something similarly nefarious, Occam's razor would dictate that it is a training exercise and you have nothing to freak out about.

And yes I know people will say "well train on military property." A lot of national guard units do not have this luxury. We must train with what we have available. We can't afford to bus the four hours to the closest base and train there when we have drill. We use what we have, and often times that is civilian roads and lands, etc.

The military is not a homogeneous evil entity. It is filled with patriots and a lot of really young kids. Anyone who has been in the military knows how absurd it would be to expect any kind of mass mobilization of troops for sinister purposes to be kept secret and under wraps.

18 year olds would be sending texts like crazy if they got orders to mobilize. Patriots would raise all hell if we were ordered to do something that was not in the interests of the people.

Please get it out of your head that the military is a evil entity. Top leadership may not have the interests of the people at heart. But the military is filled with patriots who love this country. I have personally had conversations with people in my unit, and we all agree that if orders come down for us to disarm citizens we're going AWOL.

I live next to a couple bases, it's freaking San Pedro. You didn't get the POINT of the thread, did you.

I have never seen troops set up there in over a year I've lived here. They were walking around with M-16s in a very accessible, public area. BS on my part?

It's a FUEL DEPOT that used to be a Navy Base. The baseball diamond there is PUBLIC. Kids and regular citizens play on it all the time, and it's not on the 'base'(depot), it's on the side

I made a thread because I have never seen troops there EVER and wanted to know what people thought.

You've been in the USAF and seen this a lot? Well congratulations, you win a prize for stating the obvious for a person that's been in the Air Force for 16 years.

You're calling 'BS" on me? Well good for you. I don't recall ONCE in this thread "BSing" anyone.
