It is not saying it takes that into account. It is saying the replacement rate is higher in a country with increased childhood mortality. In other words, they have to have more babies to replace the one's that died.

If people would learn to exercise some common sense with having kids, and churches would stop encouraging more child birth to ensure future parishioners (and donations), and governments would create plans on how to encourage and discourage pregnancy rates based on populations (don't force people, just encourage them via communication, like you encourage savings or spending based on economic indicators), then this conversation would not be needed.

The whole issue over population control boils down to those who 'have' realize they are going be required to share.

There are no resource shortages, just manipulated availability. Take a look at the news and open your mind to what is being said...on one hand they talk about how we live in a disposable society and yet we are running out of resources? The western world wastes roughly 40% of the food it produces and yet there are too many people to feed?

We are being played, period.

You don't even need to wait for the news to cover particular stories...just watch, you will see them contradict themselves within the same story, at the very most within the broadcast.

The biggest threat to the establishment generated by massive population is simply quality and efficiency. Businesses will have to actually produce goods that last longer than the warrenty (look around your homes...the things passed to you from your parents were built to last, today those objects are built to last 13 months).

Money, as always, is what this is about. The requirements for sustaining a large population cut into the bottom line.

I agree with you it does, but I still feel that if you educate people properly they will eventually cast aside the religious view for the evidence based science. There have been efforts in Africa for years which work on the duality of proper education but also provision of protection, and they have had considerable success. I think this will be true of any developing nation. If however the country is controlled by a religious authority then I admit you have very little hope of succeeding.

Just to add the Cornocopian view is in stark contrast to most people's beliefs and I feel there is some merit in this. Massive investment in renewable energy and vertical farming in urban areas is the future.

I think autistic people should not procreate. Parenting is a responsible endeavour, and an autistic person is not up to the task. Think of the children in the first place!

Exactly, 94% of this country is rural land. No one lives in it. The problem is too many people in one area. Huge, congested, miserable cities. If you have too many people in one area of course the water table is going to be stressed. Encourage people to move! Stop hoarding all the damn land. As for energy, take a look at this.

This is the new project at the local army base. I think EVERY house should be retrofitted with a solar system. There should be tax breaks offered for it. Cities should mandate all houses be built with solar systems. This would help alleviate some of our energy issues.

The problem is not the lack of resources, it is the allocation of those resources.

She's very conniving. One minute she's talking about how the uSA should stand up against illegal immigration then next criticizing him for wanting better border control? Typical media manipulation. I don't know what this guys organization stands for but he's clearly just standing up for the uSA protecting itself from illegals and further degradation of the lifestyle and opportunities. The guy is 100% right. It seems this Fox via this lady is trying to negativise border security while undermining the idea that population reduction as an adenda. They've taken a guy who's speaking honestly and correctly and made him the scape goat. This is pure misdirection by Fox.

call me cold hearted but I think that the 2.5 million people in the united states prisons should be killed to help with this depopulation bull#.. Honestly, 80 % of inmates are career criminals when they do get out from their 4-6-7 or even 10 year stents in prison they come out and do another crime just so they can go back in because they have already grown accustom to "prison life" 3 meals a day, a place to sleep with no bills, an hour outside to play basket ball or lift weights. 80 % go right back in with in a year of being let out... THATS BULL#! They are wasting our tax payers money on these low lives. And for the 20% who are good people that just got caught up in a bad situation ....well to bad for them... It will set an example to these young lil hoodlums we got now running around to straighten their asses up. My fiance and I are 25 and we went to our local pizza place to grab a bit to eat with our 2 year old daughter.. a group of 6 kids (16/17 yrs old) Kept starring at us.. it kind of made me feel uneasy. So my fiance said "WHAT?! With his arms in the air and these lil punks came up on us yelling "What you say dog? You got a problem man?" My fiance said "Yea I got a problem with you starrin at us while we're tryin to eat, WHATS YOUR PROBLEM!" Then this kid!!! Was like " You dont want none of this dog, you dont want none of this, I'll F*ck you up " BLAHBLAH BLAH I turned around and told them "HEY! I got my kid with me! IF you got a problem take that S*it somewhere else "DOG!" The street lights are on I think its time you go back to mommy's and get ready for school. SHOW SOME FN RESPECT.".... I CANT STAND THE THUG MENTALITY!! I CANT STAND IT!!! If they were to execute people for commiting a crime, watch how fast our crime rate drops. These lil hoodlums walk around like they are so hard because they know they are teens and a REAL adult cant legally touch them untill they turn 18! Ohhhh it aggravates me to no end!!

But I agree with the depopulation idea.. Im not talking about MASS MURDERS or a genocide, Im talking about these 13-19 year olds having babies!! Go to a highschool, any highschool and COUNT the young girls that are pregnant!! COUNT THEM!! I graduated in 04 and believe it or not we had 8 girls at some point in a pregnancy walking around in the halls! Only one graduated! The rest dropped out.. Our generation is getting larger and more uneducated!! Once these girls have babies most do not get their geds, nor do they move on to college. Its PATHETIC!! Its sad... really, I think something should be done about these teen pregnancies, weather they put something like in IUD in these girls till they turn 18 or something, because obviously abstinence is not working!! Add this with the prison statement and kicking out all the illegals...and we should be ok...

If this depopulation plan thingy is indeed real or imagined, I think there are a lot of other possiblities for this. Let's consider the possibility that mankind might indeed be in some kind of danger from a lot of different sources. What if humankind does have an exact number that we could reach in population ( i.e. 6.66 billion/the number of man?) that is unsustainable by our present and future resources? What if the earth itself has built into it's ecosystem, defensive mechanisms that would automatically be activated (like our antibodies) when we or any species would become like a out of control disease ? What if there was an extraterrestrial contingent who is given authority to govern this number by their own means (i.e. "The Day the Earth Stood Still ")? What if TPTB knew all of these things and decided that they better take action before these outside controls kick in? I feel these are a few questions one might ask or at least cause one to pause.

Overpopulation (worldwide) may not be a big problem yet, but is that a reason not to do anything about it and let things go their own way?
What are we gonna do? Shift the problem to our children and grandchildren?
( that is what our previous generations, our parents and grandparents, did to us on several areas and we do not like it either...)

I don't agree with taking drastic measurments, but population should be in balance with nature.

areas that could help are: abortion, euthenasia, when a person asks for it.
Educate children better about taking precautions when becoming sexualy active, in their pre-teens, before it is to late.
And a limited amount of children per houshold/mariage (maybe 3 is enough instead of the 6-7 some have).
Make more oppertunities in the adoption field, inspire people to adopt older children also, instead of only the babies.
could go on and on...

the above does not bring down the population, but it can help to stop the growth... and... when taken seriously, it can create a lot of new jobs.

It's our job to stop the growth, don't shift the problem to our children! If nothing is done now, some day some government will take drastic actions (if not already)

If a person cannot take care of a child well, it is wrong to let them procreate, period. It does not matter much if it is for health reasons, financial reasons etc. First take care of yourself, then think about having children.

What means should we use to accomplish this goal? I am not expert in this, but Chinas one-child policy shows that it can be done, if there is a will. According to oficial numbers, it prevented 400 million births, so a substantial effect is possible with some clever policy.
This policy would be different in different countries. The developed world would not be subject to this, because their birth rates are too low. Some thoughts:

- limit the number of children to 1-2-3 per pair. If you have enough money, you should be able to buy (or be granted) more permits - there is no need to limit the wealthy.
- people who cannto take care of themselves in the first place, should not procreate (unemployed, seriously disabled/ill...)

How to enforce this policy? You could do it financialy (through higher/lower taxes, fines, some benefits...) or other way (prison, mandatory birth control, temporal sterilization, pouring birth control into water sources... or not )

There is more than enough to go around. As biological entities we are not overpopulated but as human beings we are.

Maybe a few of us are angels; a very few. But for the most part it is true to say that any one of us can be a monster. All of us are prone to mental/emtional problems and stupidity. And sometimes we just make mistakes for no particular reason at all.

2 people infected with rage are less dangerous than 3 people infected with rage. And there is potential for rage in all of us.

It is a matter of chemical kinetics. The more molecules you have in a specified volume the more chances there are of molecular collisions and chemical reactions. The more people in a specified volume the more probable are the chances of violence between those people.

As the population goes up so does the average person's chances go up for being the victim of an assailant. Wars, crime, famine, disease, environmental damage, all those things go up.

If people ever do solve their problems as a society it won't be because of intellect and inventiveness. It will be because of good heartedness.
